I watched the factory in Elektro explode from a distance.Then got hit with a shock wave knocking my crew unconscious.

So I had spawned in my new character, walked into Cherno, and looted a bunch of stuff. Grabbed a hatched, Makarov with about 5 mags, and a revolver with 3 mags. Then, found a camo skin (Woodland brown? i think) and then headed out to some construction site. My inv was full of ammunition/food. I soon figured out that all the car/industrial stuff is found at the construction sites and quickly left as soon as I heard gunfire in Cherno. I then headed north. Some people gave advice to get to Novy Sober or where ever. I started walking and got to a small farm. I walked up into the balcony of the barn, got a crossbow and about 3 bolts (Still kept my Hatchet) and then left. as I was walking up the hill, I got Shot in the hip. I turned around, and saw a "Rifleman". I yelled at him. "Don't shoot! friendly!" He had clearly seen my crossbow and Makarov. He then said back "Go. Just run. Now". and that's exactally what I did. Ran straight into the woods. As I was coming out on the other side of the woods, I saw another survivor running on the road, and decided to take the chance to befriend them. Since I had the upper hand (Surprise) I yelled to them (Their name was Jamie.) "You running on the road. Lower your weapon and get on the ground." That's exactally what he did. Then, I shouted at him to engage in communication with me or I would shoot. He said nothing. No text. I even told him "/" was to talk and he still said nothing. After about a minute, I shot 2 rounds where he was proning. (this was through bushes as I could only see his name-plate.) I then walked over to where he was, and he had vanished! I am figuring he Alt-f4ed the crap out of there. Which sucks because I wasn't even going to kill him. So where should I go next? I am a bit east and north of Cherno.

*UPDATE* I just headed north to Novy Sober and cleared the castle. Got some loot there. Then, after leaving there, I found a UH-1H crash! Got a L85A2 RIS CWS with 4 magazines! Now currently heading to Novy Sober! and Stary Sober.

Steam: Skaterkidd92 I have been looking for a band of survivalist for a while. Do you guys have a home server?

I was using the beta patch, and so was the server. the newest beta patch. There has been an update, I am using 1.7.1.5 and apparently this is a common problem The servers I have tried it on are all up to date on the beta patch as well as the Day z version.

Run everything as an administrator.. steam, the beta.cmd... assuming you are an administrator on your computer.

I thought it was "Everyone remains innocent until proven guilty" ? lol

Where do I download the newest Beta Patch? Do you mean the Day Z Beta.cmd or the ArmA 2 OA Beta? It it's the Day Z one, I hope I can find it...

Are you running the Day Z beta.CMD file to start? or running it through steam? if you are running it through steam, try running steam as an administrator.

Okay, so I have been playing this mod recently, and I only started about 3 days ago. Since then, there has been one patch. Every time I check these forums or just chat in game, I hear people whining about how the game mechanics are broken. Which in fact, they are. I still don't get how people are not very good at this game, even with the broken mechanics. I mean, today, I didn't meet a single bandit. I have no murders. Never gotten killed by another player. I walked through Chernogorsk in the middle of the day, SHOUTING into my direct communication mic for a blood transfusion. I was also asking what city I was in, and how to get to Elektrozavodsk. (Later I looked online, comparing landmarks and found I was in fact in Chernogorsk.) Anyways, I don't see why everyone is complaining about bandits. I have not seen one. My character has been attacked by zombies, I even helped a fellow survivor but then watched him get mauled by a horde. (BTW every time a horde kills someone, the horde disappears. A weird glitch I guess.) Sometimes, I'm just walking through the wilderness, sending out random distress calls, (e.g. "I need help getting to Elektro, anyone wanna help? I'm friendly!" to "Anyone need help?") some people will say, stay away. Others will come up and trade gear. That's how I usually get my weapons/ammo. TALK TO PEOPLE. If i'm being chased by a horde of zombies, I yell until someone hears and they usually help me. Below, tell of the ways you've helped other new/experienced players get by in the world of Day Z. Also, the first time I spawned in this game, I had no weapon/food. It was right after the 1.7.1.1 update I guess.

So far in my time playing, (Which was at the release of the 1.7.1.1 patch) I have found about 5 friendly players, all who I have witnessed die. Like, I am walking with this guy, he goes prone, then 20 zed's surround him and i watch him get mauled. After he dies, all the zombies disappear. (Seems like a bug.) then, I felt bad about it, but I looted his crap because he had an M1014. This other guy wanted his hatchet so I let him have it. I've never killed any human. I think the point of this game is to survive against the zombies now because of the 1.7.1.4 update.

Yeah, usually I find a Makarov and then ask someone if they have ammo, trade painkillers or food for that. Then I almost always head into Elektro to find goodies. That is the safest of most the cities I would think. Players go through there quick, thus killing off most of the zombies. I found a few friends there, but they always die and then i'm stuck alone. D;
