  1. It has been suggested in the past several times. Unfortunately it is not yet implemented. And yet there is room for another weapon, the CR550. I don't get this logic. My little rant aside, the cattail can be found in dayz at nearly every pond. The rhizomes can be pulled out by hand and are packed with starch. It can be eaten raw, cooked or roasted over a fire, roasted being the most tasty. It is available at all year round. The young shoots are also edible but only available during spring and summer. The downy fluff in the cattails sausage shaped seed pods can be used as a tinder. Very handy when you want to cook that freshly caught fish but you have no tinder on you. The fluff is also a good insulator. A third use could be to repair the down jacket, but that might be a bit far fetched.
  2. While in 0.49 everyone was freezing their arse of, now everyone is starving to death. And there is not much we as medics can do about it because half of us are starving to death as well. I just played for 2 hours, i found 1 tomato. For christ sake devs fix those loot tables.

    Loot balance

    Axes: With the introduction of hypothermia/hyperthermia the importance of having an axe has been increased (making a fireplace). At the same time the chance of finding an axe has been decreased. New items such as the cattleprod have decreased the chance of an axe spawning on those lootpiles (correct me if i'm wrong). Vehicles do not seem to spawn loot anymore (i often found an axe on the hood of a car) and little garden sheds/shacks also seem to have lost their lootspawn. On another note i find axes get ruined far to quickly. 10 or so zombies bashed, 2 trees cut and your pristine axe is now ruined. Compass vs can opener: I'm finding compasses everywhere, houses, garages, military bases. I just found 6 compasses in Cernaya Polana and i didn't even searched half the houses. At the same time, finding a simple can opener seems as rare as finding a mp5 (which i never found btw). I do believe can openers are and should be a more common item than compasses in any household.
  5. As i was looting at the NE airfield i was standing in between 2 bunkbeds. All of a sudden my character starts moaning as if he is in pain. I have no idea why. There was no one there, no other player or zombie. My heatlh is at max, i'm not thirsty or hungry. I'm not sick either. There is nothing comming up in the console that would tell me something is wrong. Yet every minute or so my character starts moaning, sometimes saying: "F*ck that hurts". Whats wrong with me???

    I thought maybe i hurt myself from turning around when i was between those bunk beds. You know, hit my little toe or something. Anyway, reconnecting fixed the issue so thanks for the help guys.

  8. Yesterday i spawned at Electro. Looted a bit but didn't find any drink or food. Went straight for Mogilevka. By the time i got there i was starving to death. From the point of spawning to the point i was starving to death didn't took 1 hour. Respawned at Cherno. Found 2 waterbottles and decided to go to Stary. Just getting there alive took me 4 full bottles of water (refilled at Nadezhdino). At one time i was starving to death. I find a pristine apple and orange. I eat both. 5 minutes later i'm starving to death again.... So yea i'm of the opinion that the food and drink meter drop unrealistically fast.

    The OP has a point. He aknowledges it's an alpha and so do i. I'm not expexting a fully pollished game by all means. But i was expecting a bit more then what we have now and i can't help but thinking: "Is this what we get after 1.5 years in development?". The basics were there, the engine was there, the map was there. There was a solid base to go from. I had the same feeling when i played the mod. Things were so bugged for so long untill some coders started to take matters into their own hands. They fixed most bugs in no time (Redux being one of them). This made Rocket look like a bit of an amateur in my eyes. What he couldn't fix in months the community fixed in days. (no offence Rocket) I just hope - now that the money is flowing - the dev team wil do the right thing and hire a couple of extra experienced coders.
  10. I found this topic through google. I'm having the same issue just now, on my own server. (MPEventHandler RemoteExec Restriction #8) It's a vilayer server on dayz chernarus (bliss hive). We been having problems for days on our server now. After contacting vilayer they said the bliss hive was hacked a couple of days ago.

  12. No worries, i killed them for you. And don't trust them. KaptKrunKed tried to lure me by asking if i could fly a chopper over direct chat. Basically my options were to come with him or die. His 2 mates were hovering over Electro while i was in the office building. I caught a glimpse of KaptKrunKed and saw he was a bandit. As i refused to come with them he told me i was going to die. Fair enough... As he was sneaking into the the office building all i had to do was wait for him untill he popped into my crosshair. Easy kill, i had the advantage there. His 2 mates didnt like the loss of their friend and decided to finnish me. Dunno what their plan was but they managed to crash the heli into the office building. A failed landing? An attemmpt to crash the heli into the building to make it blow up? No idea but they both survived(i think they bailed out). Anyway as i sat there patiently i heard them chuck a couple of nades inside which attracted alot of zeds. Then i heard a leg snap just outside and the sound of zeds feasting on one of them. Kyle was killed... 2 down, one to go. The last guy finally came in and hit me a couple of times with his pistol. Emptied a stanag on him. Joshemyte(or something) was killed. There ya go, justice served! :)
  13. Just wanted to go play on our server but it's stuck on 'creating'. I can go in the lobby but no futher than that. From the lobby i tried login in as an admin and did the restart and shutdown command but when the server restarts it still goes no futher than 'creating'. Any help would be apreciated.
  14. We have recently changed host for our server (previously altitude, now Vilayer) because of the lack of control we had with our old one. Our old server (DE 440) will still run for a couple of days. The new server is running on the DayZ Chernarus hive (Bliss hive) which has fixed the duping of tent and gear and a lot of vehicle saving bugs. We also run extended scripts to detect hacked in weapons and items. 5 admins keep an eye on the server, including crawling through the logs sniffing out hackers. Combat logging will get you banned, period. To find the server, search for 'Alucardi' or 'DE 440' without the quotes. The result will give you 2 servers. The new one will say 'Former DE 440' at the end. location: Europe Side chat: on 3rd person: on Nameplates: off death messages: on crosshair: off vehicles: 30 time: UTC -5 For the fast ones, i will give a UAZ with some weapons in it if you say hello to me :)
  15. i think personally that every vehicle should despawn when there has been no interaction with them for 7 days. Some questions i have: Didn't i read in the release notes that ghillie suits only spawn in military areas? I could be wrong though, i played quite a few mods lately and perhaps i'm mixing up release notes. Anyway i found 3 ghillie suits in Electro today. 2 of them right next to each other in the same building. Personally i would rather see them only spawn in military areas and downed heli's. About downed heli's, i found 4 of them now on your mod. All of them empty. Well, i supose i have to be lucky that nobody looted them yet. But one of the choppers i found just 15 minutes after a server restart and still it was empty. Is there perhaps a chance that a downed heli will spawn with no loot at all? Backpacks. I have yet to find a packpack bigger then the patrol pack (8 slots). I have been in Stary 4 times and coamed the NWA 3 times but still no sigar. They seem to be very very rare, or maybee i'm just very unlucky. Don't get me wrong, i'm all up for making looting harder, the bigger bigger the backpack the harder it should be. But i would have thought of finding at least a chezch backpack by now.
  16. Well, it seems like so far nobody experienced these problems apart from you and your friend. Which makes me think the problem might be at your end, not the mod. Maybe you did something wrong installing the mod, maybe it's conflicting with another mod you have, i don't know. But so far nobody else has complained about this. If there was a problem with the mod then surely you would not be the only one having it. I would leave the system as it is now until there are others experiencing the same issue.
  17. Zombies used to be better in the past imo. They used to spawn a lot further away so you couldn't tell if somebody was in a town. They were just alway there. Now they start spawning when you approach within 200m of their spawn point. The spawns were also more spread out. Now they seem to spawn in clusters/groups. They also keep on spawning now it seems. No matter how many you kill, they keep on spawning. The view distance has also dramatically increased. However now they only see 'in front' of them. They used to have 360 degrees view, but their view distance was much shorter so it was easy to work out when to run, when to crouch run, when to crouch step and when to go prone. Now they are very unpredictable. We used to avoid agro-ing them using the run/crouchrun/crouchstep/prone tactic with a group as large as 5 going through towns. Now they are so unpredictable we just say 'oh fuck this' and just run in and shake them of in a building. Personally this broke a lot of the experience for me. They did however seem to run through every single wall on the map which was very frustrating sometimes. That seem to be somewhat fixed.
  18. If the server havn't restarted yet in the past couple of hours, my dead body is in the barn in Novy sobor. Got eaten by zombies while on the toilet :/ AK cobra with 6 mags, m1911, map, compas. There is also a bus in Novy which needs one more wheel to get it going again.

  20. Oh there is no shortage of interest in private hive servers in Europe. Just look at the mydayz.de servers, they are constantly packed with people. Everyone is fed up with the hackers and bugs in public servers. We have our own public hive server but we hardly go there anymore. I think that tells something about the state of this mod.

  23. Can i suggest making some loot less common? After all you claim this mod too be harder than the original dayz. I find certain loot in normal dayz to be way too common. Like hunting knife, hatchet, bandages, flares and chemlights, macaroni ammo, painkillers and so on. I would suggest changing half the macaroni pistols with a g17 and half the macaroni ammo with g17 ammo. That would make finding a pistol just as easy, but finding the right ammo for that pistol twice as hard. Other suggestions: -Put watches on dead zombies(3% chance) instead of the shop. -Make the higher slot backpacks more rare. Alice packs are too comon in normal dayz. -Remove barbed wire from the game, it's just an annoyance. -I would personally leave the rangefinder in the game, you cant shoot while looking through them anyway. -Increase the distance when zombies start spawning (200m in normal dayz) to 400m so it's harder to tell from a distance if someone is in a town or you spawned them yourself. You could perhaps do this to specific zombie spawns rather then all of them to decrease load on the server. EDIT: Just noticed on page 4 the spawn distance is 800meters, good :) tip: update the first post and put changes in there? -Decrease spawn chance of most common loot by 50%. (bandages, painkillers, hatchets, hunting knifes, flares, chemlights) -Decrease spawn of food and drink by 20%. -Change the spawn mechanics to avoid farming. In normal days you can empty a building of it's loot, drop the unwanted loot outside and wait 5 minutes at a minimum of 30meters away from the building for new loot to spawn. I suggest changing this to 10 minutes minimum. Just my 2 cents.
