Knit’s Island (2023): A Film Chronicling the Real and Virtual Lives of DayZ Gamers

Knit’s Island (2023): A Film Chronicling the Real and Virtual Lives of DayZ Gamers Somewhere on the internet is a land where communities pretend to live out a survivalist fiction. The avatars of the directors of Knit's Island spent 963 hours there, creating a fascinating film resulting from their encounter with these communities. The "players" reveal their fears and fantasies, in an at times unsettling blurring of the real and the virtual. Somewhere online, there is a territory of 250 square kilometres, where people gather in communities to simulate a survivalist scenario. The directors of Knit’s Island spent 963 hours inside this video “game”, meeting the people who take part in it. The three of them have created a film within this virtual world, introducing themselves to the “players” as a real team of documentary makers, deploying direct cinema techniques, tracking shots, interviews, and shot/reverse shot techniques. It all results in a fascinating film, with an aesthetic reminiscent of a 2.0 Peter Watkins, taking place in the “zone” of Tarkosvky's Stalker. While physical and obvious, the boundary between virtual and IRL (“in real life”) begins to blur through their encounters. While some participants see it as an escape from their daily lives, others live out their most disturbing fantasies as they make unsettling preparations for an apocalyptic future. The three filmmakers’ dangerous mission becomes an investigation into the virtualisation of our lives, and the limits and possibilities of the metaverse. -
Freddy8 started following license the "Livonia" map to community servers., What is the default lifetime-persistence of the Field Transceiver?, Radio frequencies and and 2 others

What is the default lifetime-persistence of the Field Transceiver?

What is the default lifetime-persistence of the Field Transceiver before it despawns? -
I agree! We need more radio frequencies! Give server admins the ability to decide how many frequencies to make available. Role Play servers need more frequencies! with only 7 frequencies it's too easy to intercept other players' communications... then the groups use that s*it Discord and it ruins the whole gaming experience.

Which mod is the electric lamp on the tower that you see in the video?
-
Unfortunately this mod is not available for everyone, only for those who fully install the GDZ-Mod. DayZ has too rough electrical systems! insufficient! Take example from this mod, gamers want to RP, they want base-buildings well lit in the night and without the lag of vanilla halogen floodlights. Junction box Cable reel and very long electric cables Switch for lights electrical outlets Electrical cabinet ceiling light/ Wall Lights ( different models, for indoor, outdoor and with different light intensities, as in the picture and possibly without lag )

I don't think you can get a refund. then if a private community server buys the license to use it only on their server, why do you have to get a refund? I know my English sucks, but the proposal does not say to make it free. it would be like asking to remove taxes ... With your purchase you have supported Bohemia and you can use the map on all official and non-official servers. This idea only says to make it possible for the community server to have the map by paying for it and only its players will be able to use it. Not happy with your purchase? why would you like a refund?

You may license the "Livonia" map to community servers. (The server buys the license and the client doesn't have to buy the map)

I agree 100% with what was said by "Roostercake" What happens when after any disaster strikes a state or an entire civilization? people want to rebuild! they want to see things work! DayZ was born as a mod, then it became a real game! Do you want to remain a simple survival game or evolve into something more? We must think beyond just "survival". There are RP servers with MODs that expand the mechanics and possibilities for players to develop their stories, to make sense of their game even after they have managed to survive. DayZ has the potential to become something much bigger! I see that unfortunately at the moment the DayZ electrical system is very crude. There are only big lights, which unfortunately are not managed well by the graphics engine, inserting many of them the FPS drop exponentially. there are no other lamps with lower intensity (such as fire torches) there are no switches, power strips. I wanted to light up an entire city. In addition, the cable reels are very short, if connected in series and the first or one in the middle are disconnected, all of them must be repositioned and disconnected if you skip an obstacle or climb ladders. (maybe I'm out of place, but I'm speaking in general and maybe more for the PC version)
