You can't bullshit a bullshitter. "Networking opportunities" is a clever way to say, "Fuck yeah I got a trip that I can write off for business purposes that is really just me talking shop with some dudes in a different place". I saw what you showed at PAX. Dogs. Wow Rocket good job, you put dogs into ARMA, something that was already in ARMA, and they don't even work properly yet. I am not trying to underplay your successes because I love the mod and the chance that you took but jesus christ don't piss on me and tell me its raining. You are not the same dude now that you were when this was just starting, and I think you need to realize the reason it took off was because it was clear you were dedicated to bringing a good idea to fruition and you were working on it constantly. Updates were frequent and large and you were a visible and vocal part of the community and when shit was broken you promptly fixed it but that has all but stopped. Graphical glitches are just a part of the game now. You have basically bound admins from doing their job, and you are running around the globe chit chatting with gaming press. Fuck the gaming press, they have been sucking you off since this first exploded and you don't need to go to them to make shit happen PR wise. The gaming media doesn't buy your games, we do. The gaming media didn't suddenly start buying copies of ARMA 2 so much so that your bosses decided to back your project because it was making them mad cash, we did. Stop circle jerking with IGN, put nose back to the grind stone, and fix that shit that is obviously broken. Fuck dogs, it is a cool idea but with things the way they are you are adding needless shit onto problems without fixing them. Might I remind you what happened to CCP after using that exact same model for years. "Regarding patch 1.7.3, I'm not going to make the mistake of releasing a patch before it is ready. 1.7.3 just isnt ready yet." This is the most sensible thing I have seen you say in a while. I can wait for a patch until it is ready, so long as I know you are actually working on it and not just sitting around throwing around "wouldn't it be cool if's" with developers who aren't working with you. Good luck man, I really hope you get this shit sorted out because this has the potential to really be one of the great games but you have to steward it carefully.

A Threat To Banditry Itself, And A Solution.
Kuro5hin420 replied to Caesar (DayZ)'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
The funny thing is that with over 4,000 servers that leave less than 1 person from the coalition to a server. This is really no threat at all and the fact that you are even touting them as a threat not only gives them way too much credit but also gives them free advertising. Bandits gonna bandit bro. No trade camp has worked yet and more than likely none will ever work in any real way with things the way they are. Video is proof: http://www.youtube.com/embed/28cCU648kEw -
No proof at all, not an actual report

This is a bad thread and you should both feel bad
-
I apologize for what has happened and I promise you we are trying to do all we can to get the responsible party globally banned. I didn't want to shut the server down because we were hoping he would do something else so we could be 100% sure and they indeed did. The person will be held accountable. As for your gear, I'm sorry for your loss bro, wish there was something I could do

Definitive Side Chat / Server Message, Will I get Blacklisted thread?
Kuro5hin420 replied to phisher34's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Well altering my mission file by myself is a blacklistable offense and I am not going to do that, so anything you PM me is not going to be used unless I get express permission from a dev. But feel free to shoot me a PM with that. -
Definitive Side Chat / Server Message, Will I get Blacklisted thread?
Kuro5hin420 replied to phisher34's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Which leads to only one of two options: 1. People are altering their mission file themselves and are not being blacklisted for it. 2. Many of the server owners know and are on friendly terms with the devs. Given the amount of servers that have it I am assuming number 2 is not the actual answer, though I could be totally wrong. Please can I get a plain, black and white, straight up answer to a legit question about hosting a server? Am I able to turn on server messages/side chat myself, or do I have to have a dev do it. If a dev is the only one that can do it, can I please get a dev to alter our mission file because without that you are binding my hands as an administrator from doing something that you have listed as an exploit. -
Definitive Side Chat / Server Message, Will I get Blacklisted thread?
Kuro5hin420 replied to phisher34's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
So wait a minute, from what I am understanding from this thread is that the only way to actually get server messages re-enabled is to modify the mission file, but that is a strict no no per rocket. So the only way to actually have this done without getting blacklisted is to have a dev do it, but I assume devs won't be spending their time re-enabling side chat on servers which now leads to some servers having it because they know the devs or are friendly with them and others being S.O.L. because we don't know them/aren't friends with them. How is this a fair landscape? It really shouldn't be this hard to get a reliable answer about this. Can someone grow a set and lay it out straight so we don't have to continually guess about shit like this? It is really getting old playing these word games. If I am not allowed to alter the mission file, but side chat/server messages are not a blacklistable offense and the only way to do that is to alter the mission file, isn't that effectively the same thing as saying if you enable side chat/server messages you will be blacklisted? -
This thread is dual purpose. We enjoy this mod and we enjoy having a server of our own to call home and play with some of the same people on a regular basis. We have a nice batch of regulars and it is nice to see them on the server when I log on. The task of moderating our server is made pretty simple and hassle free thanks to the group of regulars who all play on our server and for that I want to quickly thank everyone who helps keep Dallas 24 a fun place to play by being helpful to the admins and other players. I can speak for all of us in Clan PMC when I say we appreciate it as it makes our jobs easier and allows us more time to play with all of you instead of spending our time telling people to behave. If there are ever any incidents with hacking/malicious or racist chat/people spamming the server or if you feel like someone is doing something they should not be please do not feel like you can not approach any of us about this issue. I will be checking this thread often so just post in this thread about your issue or if you just want to say hey. Hopefully this will stem the tide of people making threads about specific servers in our case at least. With that being said it is time to talk about hosting our own server. We host our server out of our own pockets. While it is not ridiculously expensive it does cost money and we have real life stuff that takes president over hosting our server. We will not be able to continue to do this without the donations of our players and clan and any bit you can donate makes a difference and is appreciated. At this time we are not able to give anything away in game for your donation but I am trying to work out a solution to this out of game to make sure our donors do not feel like they have given money to us without receiving anything besides playing on our server. Once I have this figured out I will update this thread and let everyone know. For the time being, we need help keeping our server up and any donation you make will be noted for future perks/cool shit and you will also get a personal thanks from me. We enjoy our community and we want to keep it going. Please help us provide a place for everyone to play the game they way they want to (Within the provided rules of course). Donation link can be found below, we are grateful for anything you can spare. Http://clanpmc.com/donate.html _____________________________________________________________ Legacy post above. Same statements remain the same, though I would like to add a little story. The other night before the dallas' went down I was on our server playing with everyone else and we had a few new faces who were pretty cool, Optimus sticks out right away but there were others. Someone was being an idiot and hacking in our server and destroying buildings and despite this set back everyone remained friendly and having fun and it felt really good to know that the hacker didn't get his satisfaction of f'ing up the game for everyone else. Thank you to the people who come into our server on a regular basis and those who come in for the first time and don't immediately screw the place up. You guys make weeding the jerks and morons out worth it and you also make it much much easier. We should be back up and running tonight and you are all welcomed and encouraged to come by our server and get in some play. I know I will be there. :Shameless self promotion: Please head over to our donation page, link located in the legacy post above, and help us keep the server paid for if you enjoy having a fun place to play with approachable admins. If you don't enjoy having a nice place to have fun by all means skip this part, but only if you hate fun and friendship and love and you want the sun to explode. You don't want the sun to explode, do you?

Yeah, I really do not understand why the bar for acceptable proof of a death dodger is so high. It is almost as if it is being intentionally set so high as to be impractical. If anyone is going to be proving anything malicious going on, which there is quite a bit of still going on, everyone has to be recording their game play at all times, just in case something stupid happens. That would require an insane amount of hard drive space and despite resulting in some awesome videos is impractical completely. If we can't use your own logs to stop something that has been already said to be an exploit, and you apparently can trust us enough to pay money for your servers but not enough to moderate said servers, what position does that put us in? I am happy to contribute to the community and help grow what is an awesome idea into a fully supported game but binding our hands as moderators during development doesn't make any sense. I understand you do not want admins abusing their powers and that is a real concern but why is it the rest of us who man up and play the game the way it is supposed to be played get penalized when we do something about the people exploiting? How is the burden of proof on us and not on the exploiter? Can we please have the ability to turn connect and disconnect messages on and off as a server option, and if not can we please get clear guidelines as admins on what to do against exploiters and hackers who are ruining the game experience for legit players?

Call to the devs and server admins about the issues with open servers.

I agree something along these lines would be awesome, but also troublesome to impliment and also use in a fair way. -
Night Servers during the Day (US)
Kuro5hin420 replied to cullenhelwig@gmail.com's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I know our server, Seattle 124 should be inverse time for the US. -
Well fuck, then I have no idea how I lost mine then. I had it in my pack after I found it at a heli crash site but when I logged back on it was gone. I figured it was a hacked in item and the devs had removed it from my inventory but now I have no idea.

Cheating on Dallas 24 "IslamyMcMuslim"
Kuro5hin420 replied to Allikas's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
As an admin who was present While these shenanagins were going on I can attest to the fact that there was someone indeed hacking on our server tonight. I can not confirm who it was, though I have my suspicions. I saw the killed by friendly fire message and was going to message rick and tell him to stop killing in debug, and then the side chat erruptted and I had to tell people to simmer down and stop lagging the server. Whoever it was that was hacking had blown up the hospitals and markets and has placed fence barracdes absolutely everywhere. It will take a while, but we will get back to normal. -
Murder Leaderbord: LiquidShock
Kuro5hin420 replied to ChuckGeller's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I have a clan mate who has gotten 10 kills in about 20 minutes. It isn't impossible -
So wait a minute, you are accusing him of using gear that you claim he got by exploiting it into the game and yet you brag about picking it up and taking it after you killed him? So you and your buddies are now in possession of weapons and gear that were gotten through cheating? This thread was a good idea and I am glad you posted it. Good proof 10/10 Would read again

DayZ Staff are overlooking administrative abuse...
Kuro5hin420 replied to Spartan36's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
I have seen a lot of complaining but no real solutions given. If this is the massive problem you believe it to be (It isn't as widespread or dire as you make it seem) then what would you do to solve it? Take the ability to restart the server, a critical function for admins to maintain servers stability away from them? More detailed server logs (this will increase the amount of load on the servers quite a bit)? And god forbid you should feel victimized in a game about the zombie apocalypse and your survival of it. I do not want people to think I am claiming that this doesn't happen. I am sure it does, and the people who are doing this should be punished, but in punishing them it is important that you don't cross the line into punishing the majority for the minorities actions. Also, if an admin uses the server logs to find out who killed them and then uses that info to stalk and kill the involved party there is nothing you can really do about it, as shitty as that sounds. Once again, a critical function for the server to survive and for admins to do their job is what you want to take away. Anyone have any rational solutions? -

You can use logs to ID people, you can not kill people at all. Anyone claiming this power is either a liar or a hacker -
DayZ Staff are overlooking administrative abuse...
Kuro5hin420 replied to Spartan36's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
This whole thing is getting way out of hand and the fact that there are countless threads like this continue to baffle and confuse me. I am an admin on Dallas 24 and I have been accused of all sorts of things that I have no power to do, like spawning zombies on a player who supposedly killed me and looted my uber 1337 gear even though he didn't know what my name was. I don't have the power to spawn zombies on anything, let alone target attacks like that and I never cry about dying. I smoke a cigg and get on with my life looking for the next good loot spawn. Contrary to popular belief being an admin is more of a hassle than a privilege, because on top of watching out for bandits and finding loot and vehicles and the like I also have to keep an eye out and make sure no one is mucking about in chat (they usually are), or spamming voice channels and lagging the server, or dukeing it out in chat like everyone does here on the forums. It is a game man. I understand that it is extraordinarily good and that you love it intensely, and I do too but you can't let that lead to you acting like a spoiled brat to everyone that is trying to help you out; and it especially doesn't help when you call the people who are making sure you have a place to play/express your thoughts and opinions on the game out and say they are not doing their job. Most of what is done administratively with this game is volunteer work and things are blowing up quickly in a way no one could have foreseen so the system is stretched to capacity and sometimes things slip by. This isn't administrative negligence or the devs or mods condoning this type of thing, it is people who are over stressed and working hard trying their best to keep up with the incoming amount of work. Next time you want to post a thread like this on the forums instead you should go grab a beer/smoke a bowl, go outside, look at the stars and relax for a little bit because this really isn't as big of a deal as you are making it. -
I do not see anyone in that screenshot being banned, only a message displayed that says they don't tolerate it. You could take that to mean virtually anything. It also doesn't say anything about stealing loot, only farming it. As for "raiding their camp" which their is no way to prove is theirs, I find it funny there are no screen shots or videos of that, and I have yet to see a thread with actual proof that something like this is happening. I am not saying it isn't, I just find it funny that there is never a shred of proof aside from multiple people posting in the thread that they were there and saw it. I have been accused of this on my own server, and I don't have a camp, so that kind of puts things into perspective for me. I suspect that the truth lay somewhere between the two but probably more on the people being but hurt about server restarts side.

The official Seattle 124 thread
Kuro5hin420 replied to Kuro5hin420's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Our server has been down for most of the day waiting for an update. I believe that is finally happening right now so we should be back up and running again in no time. to everyone who joined prior to this post I apologize if you were kicked but we did not want you to be in the middle of something and then BAM, server goes down for update. I will update this post once the install is complete and the server is running stable. -
Seattle 59 - ADMIN kicking all
Kuro5hin420 replied to azuredeviljin's topic in Mod Servers & Private Hives
Their server is running 1.7.1.2 which is an unstable build that causes servers to crash. My assumption is that they are probably trying to update and fix server issues as this last patch has been a real bugger. It happens man. Doesn't look like anyone abusing anything to me. -
-
I too am waiting for my server to update and I fear that people connecting and getting their weapons bugged out, spawning in the ocean, etc will result in a thread posted here about how my server or its staff are abusing power/allowing things like this to happen. On one hand I am trying to look out for them, but until the server host updates there is really nothing I can do for them aside from lock the server and not allow connections, but then again people will complain about that too. We have a host of regulars who are great, and we enjoy having them on our server and want to get them up to date as soon as possible so we don't have to refuse connections but our hands are kind of tied right now with no real way to inform them. Be patient and eventually servers will start being updated.
