Meeting other 'survivors' - A tale of disappointment.

I'm taking Semelfett up on his offer, but I'm afraid I can't play with you two, Kane. American timezones. What's more, the latency would kill me. Thank you, all the same. I actually just had a bit of luck tonight, with a pair of russians. It turned into quite the adventure, so my spirits have been lifted a tiny bit - Then they shot me in the back later. I think they did, at least. I'm not too sure it was them. In any event, keep lazy on the triggerfinger, lads. It really becomes more fun for everyone. Even if you want to rob and kill me, don't do it on sight. I'd rather be decieved later and have a bit of fun with it first ;) -
I'll give it a go, but I can't find you on steam, nor can I see the server.

Meeting other 'survivors' - A tale of disappointment.

Greetings, community. I'm relatively new here, but I've been playing video games since I was a kid. I'm now a young adult, and this mod brings a change of pace to all that is multiplayer. I have medium experience at this stage, having spent just about 20-30 hours playing it. But I am either extremely unlucky, or the 'survivors' need an adjustment in their mindsets, because I have not successfully interacted with another survivor -once- without being shot in the face. I know we're all paranoid because everyone can be a bandit, but given that I've had just about 15 interactions with survivors thus far, I'm starting to think that everyone is just out to kill and noone is interested in teaming up with others that they havn't met previously. I am fully aware of the risk it is to meet another player, and it is, without a doubt, better to shoot than be shot. But my efforts have been so great, without even the slightest reward thus far, and I soon will have no choice but to submit to the same mindset of shooting first and asking later - Which is a bit dissapointing to me. People seem far too triggerhappy. I just logged out after being killed a few minutes ago. I had situated myself in the com tower of an airfield and thrown out a few flares into the pitch black night. I had a broken leg from being shot at by another player much, much earlier (We're talking 2 hours and another server), so I was desperate for morphine. I situated myself on the roof and began sending out S.O.S. signals with my flashlight. Some 20 minutes later, I hear scrambeling at the stairs, so I make sure my AK is safely settled on my back and that my flashlight is all I have in my hand and I both type - And speak "friendly, friendly!" in the direct chat. A survivor emerges. He assesses me for roughly 2 seconds - And then empties an AK magazine into me. Is my desire for interaction really so foolish? Do I need to start shooting people on sight, or am I going about this all wrong? I'm not gullible, but I'd really just love to find some cooperative teamwork over .. This.
