Ya, well EA promoted several hackers to moderator status on Battlelog..... EA hands out slaps on the wrist because they are happy with hackers buying new keys the only time the serious ban hammer comes down is when you say naughty things about their games on the forums that will get your account locked along with all your games. They did that to several people who were invited by EA to their studios in California to view Bad Company 2 Beta before it was released they said it was a bad, dumbed down console game not worthy of the Battlefield name and lost their accounts and games for it.

Don't be so sure about that. DayZ is selling copies of Arma 2 like hotcakes. It's been in the top 3 selling games on Steam for months. Then there are the Chernarus paper maps..[$16]...... Arma 2 players have been demanding those for 3 years and only since DayZ has Bohemia started making available outside of buying Arma X...... Money makes people do things they wouldn't normally do.....

Banning them from buying a new key on Steam or Sprocket doesn't prevent them from creating a new account but it does make hacking that much more trouble. If you get a VAC ban it applies to all games that use the same engine.... You can't ban them completly but you can make it hurt a little bit. A good deal of the hacking and duping is being facilitated by the admins themselves. Taking a hard line on it is good for the health and future of the game. Spanking the hackers and bad admins just makes good business sense.

The DayZ mod bans should also be ported over to the Standalone. * This is assuming the OP is taking about hacking. - Server bans should be up to the admins. However, The DayZ dev team should deal with admin abuse on Hive connected servers. If Servers are set up to facilitate hacking, Duping or other expolits they should be banned forvever also.

Minecraft is not a good example. There's nothing to dumb down.... Minecraft is a early 90's style game released in 2011. Minecraft could probably be ported to a potatoe if he wanted.

Ya it does effect us. EVERY SINGLE GAME that started as a PC exclusive and was taken cross-platform has lead to the PC suffering. The DayZ team will be a grand total of 6 people according the latest interviews that discussed the Standlone starting up development and once console development starts those 6 people will be even more burdened with trying to shoe horn DayZ onto 7 year old hardware and then the usual consoletards screaming for the game to be dumbed down.... remove this, remove that..... give us killcams, remove prone snipers should be wearing day-glow Ghillie suits cause it ain't fair their shoot me...waaaa waaa. Then you'll get the Consolers who own PC's also... [usually crappy, low end systems] Demanding the same crap because they think DayZ on PC is too hard so they want the dumbed down console experience on PC. Even if the PC version does not get dumbed down. the fact that the development team limited time and resources will be wasted on consoles still means PC gamers will get screwed over somehow and that'll probably be delayed or ignored bug fixes and promised features to DayZ taking forever to appear or not at all. The Battlefield Bady Company 2 and Battlefield 3 forums were FLOODED with consolers and PC/Console owners demanding [And getting] a dumbed down, consolized COD clone. Oh and everytime a developer has said the PC would be the lead platform lied and only admitted the consoles were the lead platform AFTER they got our money. Consoles STIFLE game development....... many developers are on record admitting this. Rocket himself has said it and is embarassed by the games he worked on for a console developer. Then there's the butt kissing you have to do to MS and Sony to get your games approved.

I can't wait for the console version supporters to start crying when the PC version of the game is left for ages in a buggy mess and promised additions never appear because the DayZ development team is too busy trying to shoe horn DayZ onto ancient console hardware [And yes, the next versions will still be ancient by PC standards] and kissing MS and Sony's butt and jumping through their hoops to get approved. Then theres the inevitable flood of consoltards coming to the forums crying.... Disable side chat and the problem goes away. There are plenty of tutorial videos on Youtube and Arma 2 has a built in tutorial, theres also a DayZ Wiki. Leaving it on just creates problems because you know full well people are going to use it if it is there instead of wasting time getting into a game of policing who talks and what they say just remove it. This is like the Battlefield 3 issue of foul languange. EA disallows it and there are server admins who disallow it but the characters in the game swear constantly in both SP and MP but the player has no control over it.. instead of just adding a admin tool to remove it they leave it in and allow to it create arguments and bans. Arma 2/DayZ allows you to disable it.... Use it or stop complaining when people do use it. Sounds to me like they are just keeping it on because they are looking for an excuse to use their admin rights like people who hate loud noise but choose to buy a house next to an airport.... they just like an excuse to bitch.

Yes, excellent maps. you can thank the Arma 2 community for demanding these for the last 3 years. Once upon a time games like Arma and adventure games came with maps [some even made of cloth] all the time and it didn't cost extra.

The server admins should disable it if they are so concerned about it and a permanent ban is overkill unless the person refused to stop when warned. This is a case of amateurish admins more then anything.

SSD's and RAM do not increase FPS. It may reduce stuttering but thats a totally different thing. SSD's and RAMdrives descrease loading times, nothing more. Those people reporting FPS increases are wrong and got corrected many times on the forum.

Running from RAM or SSD does not increase FPS. it speeds up load times. + You're RAM is pretty damn slow and xeon processors are designed for server applications not games. Cherno and Elektro will cause performance issues on all systems regardles of how tricked out they are. There are threads on the offical Arma 2 forums for using RAMdisks and SSD's, give those a read.

F2P means even more idiots in the game because they have nothing invested in it, they screw around ruining the game for everyone else because it's free and if they get banned they don't have to spend more money for another key. Thats exactly what happened with Bohemia released "Arma 2 Free". We got a flood of morons who only downloaded it because it was free and just spend all their time blowing up assets and TK'ing.

This is the reason. If you're looking to play DayZ during daylight hours just search around, there are plenty of US servers that are set to daylight hours even when it night time hours in North America. Third party launchers have browsers with bookmarks which makes it easier.
