Uh no they are not. Nvidia control panel will CHECK for new drivers only. it will NOT download and INSTALL them for you. That is ONLY if it is configured to do so. Coming from someone who thinks drivers are built into the card...... ya.. ok

FPS lag when i shouldent have any..
jblackrupert replied to kirbies's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Yes it's normal. It's a lot better then it was when Arma 2 came out in 2009 thanks to Bohemia's continued patching. Defragging will help and switching to an SSD will improve things also, An SSD won't help with FPS but it will greatly reduce texture popping and micro-stutter. Free Defrager here: http://www.piriform.com/defraggler There are 3 years worth of posts dealing with performance issues and tweaks on the official Arma 2 forum. http://forums.bistudio.com/forumdisplay.php?83-ARMA-2-amp-OA-TROUBLESHOOTING -
Hardware wise Nvidia and AMD are equal but when it comes to drivers and out of the box support for games Nvidia wins hands down. Nvidia is well known for it's good relationship with game developers, They always have good things to about them in industry magazines and sites.

Update video drivers and check to see that he hasn't got te view distance cranked up to 10,000 metres. Edit: Correction.. The View distance thing is if he's running Arma 2. [DayZ lowers it down to under 2000]

tower build for ArmA2/ DayZ/ general gaming...
jblackrupert replied to uwmd13@gmail.com's topic in Technology/Programming
OCZ has a bad reputation for power supplies, Memory and SSD's.... avoid. -
Intel HD Graphics <<<<< - Thats the reason for the poor performance. Buying the full game could go both ways and there's no real way to know until you actually try it. The FREE version uses low-res textures so the hit on the GPU is much lower The FULL version uses higher res textures so the GPU will take a hit BUT at the same time you'll have access to the latest patches which have improved perfomance of Arma 2 by huge margins since it was released back in 2009. If you're serious about playing games like Arma/DayZ you should seriously consider investing in a desktop PC.

I was wrong, sorry about that. SA will be released in 5 hours, 12 minutes and 46 seconds.

Could this rig run dayz on normal?
jblackrupert replied to ostrichmandude7's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
It can play games, but pretty much only old games and console ports. -
Can't join servers. It says 'common/air_d_baf.pbo''
jblackrupert replied to ninjarubberband's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Did you apply the 1.60 and 1.62 patches after you installed? -

Save some more cash and get a dedicated card, intergrated Graphics.........not good. -
Combined Operations is just a name for Arma 2 and Arrowhead together on DVD, Digital download and or installed together. The DLC is only for High-res textures, the assets are already there in patches but at lower res versions [Lite] Do as the person above said, verify your files.

Computer Component Question - Processors
jblackrupert replied to G0V3RNM3NT4L's topic in Technology/Programming
i5 for games i7 for Games/Video/Image editing A 3570K can be had for $200 and can be easily overclocked. MSI boards have something called "OC Genie II" you just push a button and it overclocks the CPU to 4.2GHz without having to do anything else You'll need a third party cooler though, the stock one won't cut it. Don't waste money on an i3. -
Skyrim is 100% Console port... Any bargain bin card could handle it.

You get that terrible feeling...

Fart into the mic -
Learn to do stuff manually and things will be a lot easier then dicking around with third party apps to install stuff. Also, in the future when if you need to reintstall you don't have to wait for Commander to download stuff all over again, you can burn the patches on a DVD and have them ready to go.

DayZ with Combined Operations DISCS
jblackrupert replied to sdarcy's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
You need the 1.60 and 1.62 patches installed. http://www.arma2.com...=folder〈=en You also need the latest BETA patch from here: http://www.arma2.com...eta-patch.php [Link at the top green bar] You should also install the ACR DLC [Lite] if you decide to play Arma 2. [Not nesseary to play DayZ] http://www.arma2.com...r-lite-〈=en Note: DayZ uses assets from the PMC and BAF DLC, the patches only install the LITE versions which have lower res textures. DayZ doesn't use any assets from the ACR DLC, so you don't need to buy it for higher textures unless you choose to use it in Arma 2. You can buy the FULL versions of the DLC on Sprocket.... Bohemia's own Digital download site. http://www.sprocketidea.com Intall order: 1) 1.60 2) 1.62 3) ACR Lite [You may skip this if you don't want to play Arma 2] 4) BETA Patch 5) Run/Configure DayZ Commander. P.S. Steam doesn't play well with Arma 2 and mods, If you buy Digital versions of Arma 2 you should buy it on Sprocket. You can login to Sprocket any time and download the files and retrieve your key, The files are also burnable on DVD no silly download client needed. -
Anything up to 150 is considered the tolerable range for Arma 2 so long as it's steady... Lots of Jitter and you're going to have lots of problems.

Gaming mouse. Is it worth it?
jblackrupert replied to void.false@gmail.com's topic in Technology/Programming
Have you used Contact paper before, I'm talking the Faux Leather kind I posted links to above? For $15 you can cover an entire desk in a few minutes with plenty to spare and be able to remove it if need be.. I't's smooth, sensors like it and it's easy to wash.. -
Best way to make DayZ run faster/smoother?
jblackrupert replied to Dark Veteran's topic in Technology/Programming
I'm currently running Core i5-3570K [3.4 Stock speed] Will overclock when I get a Noctua NH-D14 16GB DDR3-1600mhz Asus GTX 560 DirectCU MSI Z77A-GD65 Windows 7 32bit Arma 2/DayZ installed on a SATA 2 drive same partition as Windows. I'm getting 30-65 FPS with everthing on VERY HIGH...except AA. which is NORMAL....Draw distance 3500 FXAA on sharpen HIGH..... I can crank the draw distance up to 5000 and still remain in the mid 30's no problem, even in the large cities. Thats what you can expect with a system like that, a few tweaks and changes and I could probably squeeze a bit more out of it I'll be adding a couple SSD's in RAID 0 soon to elimate any stuttering and texture popping. Core-i5 3570K CPU's are pretty cheap [$200-220] and can be clocked close to 5Ghz with a third party cooler like the Noctua NH-D14 The MSI Z77A-GD65 is a decent board. The BIOS can be changed in Windows [Requires a reboot though] and OC Genie II allows you to clock a Core-i5 up to 4.2 with the push of a button. -
how to enter arma2 key and arma2 ops
jblackrupert replied to Temin32's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Sounds to like a load of bull to me. If he bought the game from Bohemia he would either have the DVD or a link to a digital download of the game to enter the keys into. -
Then you're a wannabe script kiddie that downloaded a fake hack and got your key stolen. Which IMO is even better, nobody had to put up with your crap.

Probably one of the best community maps ever made. Played it for over a year when it came out in MP,
