Ram Disks do not damage RAM, the RAM was defective or failing to begin with. -
Is there anyway to stop micro stutters in dayz

Yes it's safe. if you don't defrag it will slow down access times to your files on your hide drive because the files for programs get scattered all over the drive over time[Fragmented] and the drive has to jump around looking for those files which slows things down. If you have an SSD, then you NEVER defrag those, it won't do major damage but it will age your SSD prematurely and there is no benefit to doing it SSD's do not need to be defragged. The fact that you've never defragged ever is likely the cause of your stutters. In this case you should really defrag the ENTIRE drive... Depending on the size and level of fragmentation it could take a few minutes to several hours. Start the full drive defrag when your going to bed or out for the day and make sure you or anyone else DOES NOT power off the system while it is doing it. -

- Defrag your Arma 2 directory - http://www.piriform.com/defraggler - Install Arma 2/DayZ on an SSD which will get rid of that and reduce texture popping. 2 or more SSD's in RAID0 will eliminate it completely. Arma 2, Crysis and the DCS flight sims are games that benefit a lot from SSD's when it comes to issues like that. -

Bambi here, Just wondering if there is any info on the standalone?
jblackrupert replied to Benjamin318's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I prefer Thumper, at least thats what the chicks call me. -
A 560 can play Arma 2 and DayZ maxed out without problems.in the 40's up to 60 FPS depending on the map and location. An SSD is a good investment also, A single SSD will greatly reduce texture popping and stuttering, 2 SSD's in RAID0 pretty much eliminate it. The standalone will of course run even better then the current mod.

I think the game you are looking for is Far Cry 3

CPU - i5 for gaming GPU - GTX 560 or AMD equiv [or higher] and you'll be playing with everything on VERY HIGH. 30fps and Higher without any problems. Get an SSD if you can afford it... 2 in Raid0 even better....... Reduces texture popping and stuttering.

Wrong. People have been using Workarounds for ages. it wasn't until the latest BETA that they allowed you select which drive/partition you install to and thats not available for all games yet because they have to be converted to the new system. -
Used are cheaper and it teaches a lesson in taking care of your stuff. [invest in a shelf]

One does not simply play Dayz..
jblackrupert replied to dirtyzerg's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
A lot of it has to do with Steam not playing well with Arma 2 mods and addons. Why they insist on promoting the Steam version of it is beyond me. Less muss and fuss with the Sprocket version. -

Just found out Steam is going to allow Games to be installed on multiple drives. The BETA client has it but only for a few games. http://steamcommunit...66056837737711/ Amazing... only took 9 freaking years... maybe in 9 more years offline mode will work. There's also this app for moving Steam games to another drive http://www.traynier.com/software/steammover It uses the junction system suggested here but in a dummy proof app.
