I feel the implementation of the following weapons will drastically improve the game, & you can do so ( i believe) with existing animations. As of now i feel like dayzsa has no reason to build a base and store loot, in dayzmod i was a base builder, and i stored dmr/m24/m40a3/svd & the big machine guns, with ofc the regular assault rifles & pistols, and a lot of helicopter & vehicle stuff. But the ultimate goal was to get those big and nice sniper rifles. In dayzsa there is not much in the supertop-tier weapons department, so base building is just for storing SVD & FALs & ghillies, VSS is not rly good anymore. Personally i don't think it is enough of a reason to build a base, or a car in order to look for heli crashes fast around the map and get the lootz. Now every new weapon is welcomed, but honestly i don't think the M16 was anyone's top list, & rly doesn't change much the game, but i heard that you had to re-use assets because there is no "animator" anymore. I understand that the most difficult part of adding new weapons is animations. So if dayz is moving forward using existing animations only then this are the weapons that should come next because i believe existing animations fit well based on what i saw from a few pics on the internet on how similar the weapons are. DMR - from SVD /// M24 & M40A3 - from Pioneer By adding this top tier weapons, & dayz classics loved weapons, i feel you will attract a lot of people, probably break record number of players, it also benefits base building & the pvp guys. Even if the animations don't fit 100%, it is better than nothing, also no need to make the bipod useable. P.S: buff the Repeater pls !

Suggestion, make veggies & fruits useful and improve late game
maurotr12 posted a topic in Suggestions
TL:DR Am i the only one around here that has never bother with gardening because the calories in veggies & fruits are not worth it? am i the only one that has plenty of food past the coast so there is no need to grow food? Am i the only one that hardly ever goes past the NW airfield anymore into the super cool surrounding towns like lopatino, vavilovo, etc, because there are no practical reasons to do so? And even if i do there are few players in those areas? Ever since the airfield was reworked i feel i always just go to the airfield get fully looted and stay there waiting for pvp or go to stary/novy/kabanino. I feel there are no practical reasons to go lets say to vavilovo or novaya petrovka. Also usually no point in going to tisy, you get everything in the airfield either from loot or killing someone. Also there is more chance for pvp in the airfield/stary/novy/kab than in tisy & the NW part of the map in my opinion. Last it makes sense that veggies have low calories, but they should play another role otherwise the mechanic is mostly wasted. Well if i am not alone here is a simple suggestion to change all of this and make the northwest part of the map more practical to explore and disperse the pvp not just in the airfield but in the surrounding areas too. Here it is: Add a nutrition value, separate from the hunger value. What the nutrition value would do is improve/decrease a variety of stats. For example total stamina and stamina regain rate. The nutrition value is a value between 0-100, when a new character spawn it has a base nutrition value of 50. With time that value decreases unless you eat nutritious food, like fruits/veggies & meat. At zero the penalty could be something like -15% decrease in total stamina & regain rate and at 100 it could be a 15% increase. As for the regain/decay rate of the nutrition value i feel it should be low, so you can't just eat 5 vegetables and be at 100. The decay particularly should be low so as to not penalize fresh spawns as much. IMO after 1hour of gameplay if you didn't eat any nutritious food at all should be around 15 or so. You could also combine the different vegetables and even combine the vegetables with meat to create a quicker to eat and higher nutritious food that also increases calories. Like for example soups. The more variety of veggies the quicker you get more nutrients, this encourages planting several types of veggies, instead of eating 100 tomatoes you eat a variety of food in a single dish quickly. The spawn of seeds & gardening gear, as well as animals, should be low in the coast and high in the NW surroundings areas, hence creating a practical need to go into that part of the map that i feel is underutilized as of now. This would create a situation in which a lot of people would be either farming/hunting in the NW areas creating more pvp opportunities there and not just in the airfield. For example, let's say you are camping the airfield, and you hear a shot in the distance towards vavilovo, you know that someone may be hunting and probably about to farm, that will take a while so you can move there and get pvp/interactions. Another example is that if you just came into novy for ex, you have 2 choices, either go into the airfield with a low nutritious value, or go to a neighboring town and do some gardening/cooking in order to get into the airfield with stamina bonuses. Note: This example is just for stamina but this system could be expanded affecting running speed, health & disease resistance. Also if you implemented something like soups (combining veggies with meat) you could make a variety of soups that affect different stats. For example a bear meat soup could increase your health allowing you to tank an extra bullet. This would make bear hunting a practical objective yet dangerous & rewarding thing to do in late game and would incentivize exploration. Likewise fish soups could make you immune to disease. Venison soup increase your running speed by let say 4%. So basically another cool and practical thing to do in late game which i feel is pretty boring right now. Note2: The numbers i provided are illustrative and the balancing of such mechanic is completely up to the devs who know more than i do. That's all let me know what you think about it. -
Food spawn in the coast is now more common, you can also kill chickens or fish. I ve never done gardening in my entire dayz experience since i never saw the need for it. If you can't find food in the coast you either aren't looking well enough or you might just be very unlucky but that doesn't happen everytime, and when it does just kill yourself and look for another spawn, or try to kill someone with a shovel or smth. Either option is more time efficient than gardening. It is impossible to balance the game in way that will please everyone, some ppl want it easy and others hard.

Growing your food isn't an efficient way to get food, however getting food now is pretty easy, they actually buff food in the coast if i remember correctly in 1.12. But if you don't get canned food, there are usually chickens around towns/cities. If you are rly unlucky you can also fish, usually there are dead bodies in the coast to get bones from, and rope is crafted with rags. If all else fails kill infecteds with one shot sneak attacks. After the coast just hunt some animals. Also if it rains and you get wet and cold just lit a fire and dry your clothes.

Hello. It has always bother me that pistols & smgs are just a temporary weapon until you find a rifle or even a shotgun or sks (specially with 1.12 buff to sks), this takes away a lot of choice of weapons from the game and things to do. The situations in which it is practical to use a pistol instead of a shotty/rifle are rare early on and non existent in late game (except killing zombies). So i believe that pistols & smgs should have some advantages over rifles, but obviously not in damage. This way even in late game it would make practical sense to have a load out like rifle+rifle+pistol, or rifle+smg/pistols. So here are my ideas which i think are simple & easy to implement. 1- A 4% chance that when you are shot you drop the weapon you have in hands. This way, you need to have a side arm with you just in case. 2- Pistols should be absolutely silent when drawn/switch, smgs a slight noise, rifles a lot of noise. (For ex, you are in a bush sniping and you hear footsteps, you can either switch to rifle, make noise and alert the enemy or switch to pistol and stay undetected.) 3- The time to switch a rifle to a rifle( ex switching between blaze & m4) should be greatly increased taking like 8-10seconds, while switching from a rifle to a smg should be quicker ~5secs , and to a pistol ~2secs (if you have a pistol holder). Now drawing weapon times, a rifle ~3secs, smgs ~1.5secs and pistols ~0.5secs (if you have a pistol holder). This would make pistols/smgs essential to have as a sniper when a player is closing in and would leave the sniper at a disavantage as it should. 4- In line with suggestion number 3 and to make sense of the time to switch between rifles, only having 1 slot for range weapons instead of 2, so if you have 2 rifles one must be on the backpack or you must have it always on your hands which is risky if nro 1 is implemented, so it makes sense the switch to take that long. But here is the catch only lategame backpacks can carry big weapons like rifles, so that the loadout sniper+rifle is a lategame build if you get the top big backpacks, and in mid-early game you would usually go something like rifle+smg or +pistol, or rifle + sawed weapons. 5- Running with a rifle in hand slows you down like ~15%, while having a pistol in hand or sawed weapon makes you run at 100%. I think it makes sense from a realism perspective and gameplay wise. 6- This is probably more complicated and someone must have suggested this already but implementing broken arms. Since we have broken legs now i don't think it would be as hard to do it. This way we are only limited to use pistols until we are healed, or use a morphine. This suggestions would make pistols an integral part of any lategame build, instead of being just a very early weapon choice until you get a shotty or a sks specially after the buff. It would also make lategame much more interesting in player choice of weapon builds and hence the amount of looting we need to do. Right now if you got blaze+m4 you are absolutely set and don't need anything else, with this changes, you may want to look for a desert eagle, or an smg, or bigger backpack, or you may even choose to drop the m4 for a smg or drop your blaze and stick with m4 + pistol. Or if you get a svd you might drop the m4 because the svd is like sniper that also good for CQC. It would also make the pvp much more interesting and have more choice. Would you walk around with your primary in hand and risk loosing it and run slower? or would not and instead quickdraw your pistol if shot? or draw your rifle/shoty and take 3secs while the enemy is firing or take cover? Or if you get shot in the middle of the field and dropping your primary you can risk it and go back, or continue with your secondary run towards the sniper, or flee if you are chicken and have to loot another primary or maybe you had a big backpack and a spare primary? what would the sniper do when you are approaching? take a long time to switch to a rifle? take out an smg? or keep trying to fire at you and at the last moment take out his top pistol? What if the sniper never landed a hit and now you are close to him with a rifle and he just has a pistol? Or if you just heard a player, would you draw your rifle and alert him or draw your smg or pistol and have the element of suprise but with less damage? Anyway let me know what think. Thanks for reading.
