Stab Vest should not be equal to the Ballistic Vest
DefectiveWater replied to wadiman355's topic in Suggestions
From what I know, it doesn't. Both stab and press vest have 50% damage reduction. Plate 75% -
I'm just commenting for visibility, hopefully it gets addressed by the devs (or AMD).

That would be a dream come true, but sadly I don't think it's technically possible to do.

Repair Buttstocks and Handguards with Epoxy
DefectiveWater replied to Pyongo Bongo's topic in Suggestions
I don't see nothing wrong with epoxy putty fixing attachments. Having stuff spawn damaged but not having ability to fix it sucks. Badly damaged attachments don't affect the stats from what I know, so it's purely cosmetics. Why can epoxy putty fix plate carriers but can't fix plastic bits? If we want to get nit-picky about realism then we need to take a few steps back and fix other more amusing unrealistic aspects. -
New GPU needed - AMD still got bad FPS in DayZ?
DefectiveWater replied to DrzZzZt's topic in General Discussion
Can't speak much from personal experience as I had no issues on AMD RX580 (older card) and now I upgraded to an RTX 4060. A friend of mine upgraded to a RX 7600 a year ago and he had much worse performance than my old RX580. Not sure how it is now, but there was something wrong with his card/drivers and it's not only in DayZ. Some other games have some weird crashing issues. -
Do we know the day of the official public release of 1.24?
DefectiveWater replied to Riddick_2K's topic in General Discussion
Can't satisfy everyone. Even if they do everything (adding content, fixing bugs, adding features and expanding survival like they plan on doing) there will always be somebody to complain about the free updates. -
It would be a great addition and it would make sense lore-wise, but it would require new ammo, 7.62x25. They would also need to add one or two more guns that use that cartridge. One contender could be TT-33 but that's about it really. There's few SMGs throughout history that used 7.62 Tokarev but they are all basically similar in nature so not much point in adding them. It might be better for them to look at .380, 9mm and .45 options to expand the civilian/police loot some more. There's many great options available for those rounds.

+1, by design it should use the default device selected in windows settings but I can't confirm if it actually works that way. If having a drop down menu for mic selection is too much, could we at the very least get a mic playback to hear how it sounds in the game.

What do you want to see in DayZ 2024?
DefectiveWater replied to SleeperZ's topic in General Discussion
I agree, but I also think they shouldn't always 100% aggro on the uncon player to kill him. I feel like there should be some (i just woke up and i'm missing a word here) that would determine wether or not they keep beating you to death. So let's say they uncon you, but another player is nearby or shooting or whatever. They should lose the aggro on you. And I also feel like they should have a random max number of attacks they do on you, ranging anywhere from several attacks to beating you till you die. Maybe they could still keep hitting you after you die - makes them seem more deranged and could ruin more of your gear. So there COULD be a chance there is only one zombie on you and you get lucky. It only hits you a few times after you go uncon and you live. -
Yeah it really is sad. I've heard it might be an issue with DX 11.1 and AMD cards, but I ain't no expert. Friend of mine bought an RX7600 and he gets abysmal performance (10-30% GPU usage and around 20-30 FPS). My RX580 beats it by like 300% (it's not affected by the issue as only the newer AMD cards suffer from issues). There was a driver patch like 2 years ago that apprently fixed some cases but it clearly didn't fix all. Would love to hear more info about this from the devs, what is causing this awful performance on AMD cards? what can the players do to help the devs fix the issue?

What do you want to see in DayZ 2024?
DefectiveWater replied to SleeperZ's topic in General Discussion
I want to see: - improvements to gun handling, something similar to pre-0.63 days, guns not locked to the center of the screen, quickscoping nerf, running affecting sway, hold breath less instant if you've been running... - some basebuilding features/improvements (different wall/gate sizes) - improved zombie AI - another pass on the movement inertia, weight affecting more things - leg damage when falling, wall vaulting animation, weight affecting stamina regen... - Bottle suppressor nerf - it deserves a MASSIVE nerf, it's absurd how strong it is. Should be useless on high power rifles - anything bigger than 5.45 - spray paint And finally, fix for AMD cards to work properly on DayZ... Friend bought a RX7600 and he has worse FPS than my GPU from 2017... But I'll welcome any other improvements to the game. -
I think zoom should stay, but it should be heavily nerfed to provide less zoom. down to like 25-30% of the current amount. Scopes/binos should be primary way of zooming.
-
Skybox and general lighting improvements. I don't think there's a single thing that I disliked this patch. Other than the bugs that occured - but most of those have been fixed for the experimental already. Why so many .308 rifles 😫 Don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on it. It's a fantastic gun but I feel like like 7.62x54mmR is now under-represented. Overall a huge W patch which shows by the amount of players playing the game. Many great additions (clothing items, dmr, field shovel), many great changes (skybox, launcher improvements, nwaf).
-
I don't think we'll see anything like that in DayZ... ever.
-
No idea but probably somewhere around 12-15 CET (central european time). Keep an eye on DayZ twitter tomorrow, they'll probably announce it hour or two before it goes live.
-
If anything I feel like it's much easier to destroy a wooden wall irl than in the game.
-
Yeah, welcome to high refresh rate gaming. It will take a bit for you to get used to, but once you get used to it, 30/60 fps will look extremely laggy to you 😆
-
no clue what you mean by this, but try decreasing your mouse sensitivity? there is no motion blur in the game either, maybe you are still not used to the framerate especially if you have high refresh rate monitor (make sure to set it to high refresh rate in windows settings if you havent already)

Is it possible put log out zones in the game???
DefectiveWater replied to Swadedtx's topic in Suggestions
If you ask me that is a problem because it's gamey and cheesy but tarkov has (probably) many other issues apart from that. Slow development cycle as a whole, outdated engine and mechanics, bugs, lags on consoles, lack of indepth basebuilding and crafting, lack of the original DayZ feeling it had pre-0.63... I don't see how restricting logging off or adding zones will improve the gameplay loop or increase the player base. I'll stop here because I said all I needed to say on this topic and it's an interesting suggestion, but I mostly disagree with it. I'll let the devs decide if it's a needed feature or not. -
Is it possible put log out zones in the game???
DefectiveWater replied to Swadedtx's topic in Suggestions
The only way I see it working is if they removed logging off in towns/military/other points of interest with the exception of bases with flags. Logging off could also play a sound along with a longer timer (30 seconds) and/or black screen/no audio during it. Having specific log off zones would make players camp those spots. What bothers me more though is that logging in doesn't make any sounds. Just making log in have a sound (like a yawn or something) with a possibly longer vulnerable period would make players think twice about logging off at points of interest. Overall I don't agree with logging off being too restrictive - like you suggested logging off at the edge of the map which is too much... but combat logging IS an issue but who cares at the end of the day. -
Yeah the game is set during the first days/weeks of the outbreak but prior to that was the civil war which presumably started few years prior which would explain the state of the environment. I would imagine it would be even more torn down but not by much. Cars maybe wouldn't be so rusty but it's a visual indicator that basically screams "ayo, this car is f-d up". Compared to the drivable cars which is how I would imagine most cars would look like.

@Kyiara Please answer this question about Books :)
DefectiveWater replied to Pyongo Bongo's topic in General Discussion
My guess, they never re-implemented the Book interface after the engine switch. It was probably low on the priority list compared to the other issues/features. I assume we'll get them because they DID have the book contest. I wonder if we'll get all the old books or just the ones that won the contest or if they'll be readable at all or just a source of paper for starting fires. I don't see much reasons to have them, but I'm not against them either. Indifferent. -
It's the weekend, be patient. They'll probably fix it early next week. Everyone else has the same issue so just keep trying to get in, it might take a while but it should work eventually.
-
I wonder if the variable zoom of the hunting scope is the reason why it doesn't have a 3D scope effect yet. It would probably require picture in picture rendering to make sure it doesn't become a blocky pixelated mess when you zoom in fully.

Dayz's Flawed Foundations: Movement and Gunplay
DefectiveWater replied to lakevu's topic in Suggestions
Reason why servers don't run gunplay mod is because to do that you would risk fragmenting your playerbase because majority won't want to re-learn the game just for one server. Having lots of players is beneficial due to paid priority queue which could pay off server bills. Such critical changes should be done by devs themselves, so that each server has the same baseline mechanics and the players have to adapt to the changes instead of relearning each server settings.
