I think this is one of the few complaints that people have, but it's fair IMO... because unlike some, this is just abusing game bugs to get more and more loot, and this limits other players because CLE works in such a way... AND those players that do dupe aren't necessarily bad PVP players, so they could keep donking on you all day long with 100s of M4s and NVGs and plates in their stashes or bases Easy band-aid fix until it's fully solved would be to remove certain CLE parameters that involve checking stashes and stuff in the bases, and just keep spawning stuff so long as map limits aren't reached. Example... (I don't know the numbers) maybe M4 has 3-5 guns on the map as max, so it will eventually keep spawning more of them as long as it's within the max amount (could also include check_in_player to make it a bit more rare).

I would honestly make it this way: Danger signs on the outskirts of the map (the parts outside of the map, with no trees or grass), with artillery sounds playing in the distance the closer you are to the edge of the map. Randomly it would cause an explosion under you just as if an artillery struck under you and kill you. That would be my way of solving players running through those parts, as those parts of the map aren't really supposed to be used... The further out you go, the higher the chance. But mines? I think MB Tisy, MB Kamensk and MB at Tri Kresta should have minefield zones. Mines should be visible tho if you pay attention, so you could still get through the field safe... Or... implement radioactive zones so Gasmasks and NBC gear gets some use. Gasmask should be a necessity, but no NBC gear should slowly lower your health, like idk... maybe around 10-30 minutes only? depending on how large the radioactive zone, so that most of your time isn't spent jogging along. But... all of this would drastically change gameplay at certain places, and IDK if devs want that, or if players want. This is only an idea afterall... It would be an interesting way to spice it up a bit, but yeah... not sure if it's what the game needs.
-
I like it to a certain extent, but... even if it doesn't get implemented, we could at least get death once you step out of map borders. I wouldn't make it so you could disarm those mines and use them tho... Mines are supposed to be rare, it would be rather easy to farm them otherwise. But I do think mines need to be on the outskirts only tho, and not cover the entirety of the edge, but here and there around certain military places. It might not make the gameplay for the better tho... Apparently there are new artillery sounds that play randomly... they could use those to trigger explosions under players once they venture too far out?

While it might not be too bad of a suggestion, it's been suggested a lot of times on various forums and threads, and I feel like it doesn't fit DayZ at all... DayZ should be all about player contact, not AI contact.
-
Yeah, this might be the only thing that's needed to change, at least for now... Fist fights should be more than just button mashing, properly timed blocks should stagger the opponent. No stamina punches should be very very weak, and getting hit during the exhausted period should do more shock or something. Also DayZ needs exhaustion system, where you could run for longer distances, but your sway would be much worse once you stop and aim. This way, players can choose between faster travel but worse aim, and worse recovery time, or slower travel but usual aim and usual recovery time.

WISH: AMD FSR for Dayz (Update for the renderer)
DefectiveWater replied to johnnygitarr's topic in Suggestions
TAA and Interiors affected by lack of light (darker interiors, they currently look like they are lit up)... Ohhhh... and fix the lights not rendering past like 70 meters when you zoom in... While TAA isn't perfect and can end up looking blurry, it would be nice if we could turn it on and fine tune certain parameters for it (quality and sharpness). I haven't seen FSR with my own eyes, but if I can get better image with same, or slightly better framerate (1440p downscaled to 1080p) then I'm all for it... otherwise, it might be helpful to those who play on lesser than native resolutions. I asked about it on twitter few days ago, but sadly no response. If we do get response I assume we will get something like: "no information to give out". -
This shows that there is nothing wrong with the current CLE and that there shouldn't be any changes done to it... /s

These are pretty good suggestions, there needs to be more DIY stuff in the game, and I'm 100% agreeing to the first suggestion
-
I like the suggestion. While we are at it... Could we get a Medical splint added to the game? that takes up less slots than the improvised one.

Yeah, sadly this is the case often times... game really needs more than 20-30 players, otherwise it feels way too empty, but then the performance starts going down more and more...
-
no. most players won't choose them because of the time required and grind required to gain something that could be lost anytime (not because of bugs, but some people do avoid them because of bugs), I rather like living life by life without bases and stashes. makes the game much more refreshing who says they aren't trying?

Possible new items to add for next update
DefectiveWater replied to themonk3106's topic in Suggestions
wait... how would that suppressor work? got any pics? and sadly bows have been requested for as long as the have been removed... i hope eventually we do get them -
I do think nights are just a tiny bit too dark when you are playing on the hardcore servers, but it would be okay IF they fixed the lighting issues and lights disappearing after like 100 meters... You got outplayed, just accept it. It is annoying, but sneaking is better in 1.13. CATS?!?!?! yeah, cats are still an issue, sadly. I've seen this happen sometimes, mostly with revolvers though... I found like 6-7 revolvers in Novaya Petrovka once ?!?!?! I literally don't get your point about damage, but face does need it's hitbox/not be protected by helmets unless they have a faceshield

Update 1.13 Xbox Experimental (Change Log)
DefectiveWater replied to lynn.zaw's topic in Xbox Experimental Updates
no... there is an issue with ADS sensitivity and that being that every scope has different speed, which shouldn't happen and should be consistent and dependent on zoom level and also have the ability to be fine tuned by the player in the settings menu just like normal sensitivity is. vanilla servers struggle sometimes when the server is full, i've played on a lot of official servers with 40-50 ping, and yet the doors take like a second to open, and zeds don't even notice you often... although this was in 1.12 on PC. -
no... maybe just give some HP buff to bears, but not that... make wild animals attack players if provoked, like Wild Boars, and I'm sure goats would headbutt you IRL...
-
I'm not a gun nut, but from what I know, no. In semi-auto you also get 3 different trigger pulls due to the way it's made. https://www.bevfitchett.us/m16a1-m16a2-rifle-marksmanship/burst-fire-mode-ma.html I would love to see this implemented, but maybe for gameplay purposes it would suck, idk.

Oh I do agree with you on that part, funny how something like zeds, which are a part of the core concept of the game, aren't properly balanced yet. Yes, it's better than 1.11, but there's still a lot of work needed to be done to zeds. The only reasonable explanation is that BI really jumped the gun, and started cashing in on something that isn't even CLOSE to being a finished product. Games generally do need like 3-5 years to be made, which seems reasonable IF you ignore everything before the "new" engine change. TLDR: DayZ upon it's first release, looong looong time ago should have been released with the 1.00 engine. Now THAT would be acceptable, and now you have a lot of people still to this day mocking DayZ for many core issues that still plague the game. I mean, I still like the game... but I will ALWAYS warn my friends about the state and the history before they buy it. I guess this is just ranting for the sake of ranting, at least on my part.

True, I never understood why there was a need to have server-side vehicles, and plethora other things like: ADS lag that happens when server doesn't run too well... why isn't ADSing client side, if I'm not wrong, every FPS/TPS game does it client side... You said it well, why didn't they let BattleEye do it's job, why not add ways to "tag" possible cheaters if server sees some suspicious activity/people report suspicious death (although... I assume this would be too abused if players could report). While I do agree that 0.62 had some good features, and a unique flavor to everything, it also had massive flaws, and current 1.12 is much more playable when it comes to bugs and performance (still... not ideal). I would take 1.12 any day over 0.62. But... if let's say 1.17 adds some of that flavor from 0.62 back to vanilla game, it would be probably a nice improvement.

Yeah... this is exactly how game development works /s Make a second game while not even having any sort of engine to run it, sure, what could go wrong? As much as I would like DayZ 2 too, it's just not possible. You could argue that Current DayZ is DayZ 2 because of the engine switch they made few years ago.
-
I was with you until you said that... Bye bye, have fun with other games. DayZ doesn't need/shouldn't have offline protection. Although, I do agree that DayZ needs a bigger update to bring some hype back (after they solve some core issues like cars).

3 simple and high-quality suggestions for the game
DefectiveWater replied to maxon-69's topic in Suggestions
1. Agreed 2. Maybe a bad example by increasing your health reserves, but soft stats for running might be okay. I honestly would like it more without soft stats. 3. Agree, more feedback is necessary from your character's status like: Bleeding (screen distortion on the edges?), Hunger (rumbling stomach), Thirst (occasional pulsing screen blur? like every 3-10 minutes if red thirst), Wet clothes should also look wet (for example, IRL a lot of clothes get darker when wet due to the fabric soaking up water?) + having water droplets on them would also be a nice detail. Medical stuff should also cause screen sharpening effect, stronger colors, contrast changes(?) according to what you take/ how strong it is. Next stuff could be slightly off topic: Guns also need more feedback sounds. Fire mode switching needs a "click" with slightly different sound queues. Gun ranging also needs a clicking sound (different than fire mode switch). Maybe even more exaggerated difference in sound when fired in: Open field VS a city. Ammo counter also needs a rework, player should have to check their mags to know approximately how many rounds are left like: "Full", "Almost full", "Half", "Almost empty" instead of the constant counter that updates with each shot. Player checks a mag, it says "Full" for a couple of seconds and it fades out. -
As far as I know, all helmets have "faceshield". What I mean by that, helmets already protect your face (your entire head, to be specific)... at least it was that way in 1.11, and no mention of it being changed in 1.12, so I would assume it's still the same.

Will the price go any lower in six months to a year? Will the game be more stable by then?
DefectiveWater replied to Dayzo's topic in General Discussion
I doubt price will go down, it's often on a sale for like 24 euros which is a good deal, 40 might be too much for a lot of people in it's current state. I would personally skip out on Livonia, get the base game (on sale), enjoy the Chernarus and modded maps, and if you ever want to try Livonia, you can always buy it afterwards. Majority of servers are on Chernarus for a reason. It has a better flow than Livonia, the only downside is that it looks less aesthetically pleasing compared to the green Livonia. -
It's easier to start as a solo since you can find food for yourself easier, with 2 people you have 2 mouths to feed. After the initial 30 minute hump, it's probably easier to play in a group. 2 pairs of eyes will spot other players quicker than a solo player will.
