Remove Bottle Suppressors and rework actual suppressors.
DefectiveWater replied to FuzzyBear182's topic in Suggestions
I don't think they need to remove plastic bottle suppressors, but instead make them realistic and make them do nothing at all. Maybe it could work for .22 or .380 pistol caliber. Or re-use the model and have a reinforced duct taped plastic bottle that has... more durability? Seems more reasonable than a plastic suppressor... They could and should buff the durability of real suppressors by at least 500% and nerf their "silencing" part by the same amount. To make suppressors more useful, they could instead add in muffled hearing if you shoot too quickly or shoot indoors without suppressors (not ear ringing because it's annoying). https://youtu.be/UsxMo_Fx3kk?si=Tk4NnAB4AayO6WWa It's pretty clear from the video that you can still faintly hear suppressed shots from 5.56 even at 1 km distance in less than ideal conditions (light rain) and you can easily hear them at 500 meters. Suppressors don't have to be OP and they shouldn't be OP just because Hollywood makes them OP. -
Walking should be option not requirement
DefectiveWater replied to FuzzyBear182's topic in Suggestions
Lore wise Chernarus is supposed to be post-war and post-pandemic country. Maybe the military intentionally destroyed cars so that the infection wouldn't spread, no clue tbh. But I do agree that there maybe should be more fixable vehicles. I wonder if the current number of vehicles is a server performance limit or just purely a balancing act. -
DayZ Frostline Dev Blog Week 34
DefectiveWater replied to lynn.zaw's topic in DayZ Frostline Expansion Dev Blog
Got a reply for this question on dev stream: https://clips.twitch.tv/PricklyGiftedAyeayeBigBrother-ul2NQ-Tj_uB_ZiHE Seems like the fix is boat only fix and it's not something that can be applied to the cars. -
DayZ Frostline Dev Blog Week 34
DefectiveWater replied to lynn.zaw's topic in DayZ Frostline Expansion Dev Blog
Pretty cool, boats are going to be a welcome addition to the freshies on Chernarus and Livonia because they can be used to group up with friends relatively quickly. They seem to work well without any major issues, however it would be nice if we could shoot/interact with inventory from the sitting position. So are boats client side or did you guys fix something regarding networking, can and will the same be applied to the cars? That would be amazing to see and it would modernize the visuals of the game a lot. Oh and one more thing, boat is named "Rubber boat" which indicates there might be other types in the future? -
DO Not Shrink the Slots in Clothes in Update 1.26!!!
DefectiveWater replied to user23353453's topic in General Discussion
Games like SQUAD portray a much more authentic experience when it comes to guns and gunfights, thats what I want. Pre 0.63 version DayZ did a much better job at this than the new engine DayZ does. Aiming a gun is too robotic in DayZ. Shooting full auto is not an issue in DayZ. DO Not Shrink the Slots in Clothes in Update 1.26!!!
DefectiveWater replied to user23353453's topic in General Discussion
Ideally yes, for the most part (or at least it should make sense). That's why DayZ appealed to the players and to me in the first place, but... They once tried to make loot disappear after 48 hours instead of 2-8 hours but it ruined the economy because items weren't in their spawn locations. They were dropped somewhere randomly in the forest by other players and it took 48 hours for them to de-spawn. I agree with you. That's why I've been complaining about gun aiming ever since they changed damage model to the "1 tap system" where everything uncons you. Then they decided to make zig-zagging less effective by adding inertia without making aiming harder. Those are individually good changes but they left out gun aiming to be as simple as COD game. -
DO Not Shrink the Slots in Clothes in Update 1.26!!!
DefectiveWater replied to user23353453's topic in General Discussion
I would love if they expanded the inventory system even further. For instance, jeans have 2 front pockets and 2 back pockets, so that would be 4 separate sections so you can't fit a truck battery into pants. Another thing I would love to see is the restriction to quickslots/hot bar slots to backpacks. Items IN backpacks (not attached to proxy slots like radio slots), shouldn't be quickly accessible. No more SMGs in backpacks being pulled out in the same time as shouldered weapons. I also would love to see the ability to carry things in the off-hand (left hand). Pistol and a flashlight/chemlight. Sword and a shield (no shields currently in game though). Or just carrying a burlap sack in your off-hand because you don't have a rope to make a backpack yet. In all honesty, I think devs probably agree with us. Lots of devs are the OG DayZ players when the game was really hardcore when it comes to the inventory (and when it had some features that are still missing), but I feel like they are worrying about possible player backlash and they are also weighing in the importance of these features compared to other features/bugs which take priority. TLDR: I love the inventory size nerf and I would want to see even more changes. -
Create awareness and protect player privacy from content creators
DefectiveWater replied to praisejollycoop's topic in Suggestions
As I said, everything on the internet is public and can stay there forever. Don't share your private info on the internet (games included) if you want that private info to stay private and there won't be an issue. It's common internet etiquette and common sense. -

If you want your privacy, you don't share it on the internet... games included. I would be fine with that but I don't agree with the rest. -
Currently it works fine for me, you still have the issue with the link?

My 5600 is behaving just fine in DayZ. Although I do have an overkill aircooler on it and it's running on stock settings without overclocking. Arctic Freezer eSports DUO 34. Ignore the numbers on the left, they reset each reboot but the graphs are saved. That graph is from last nights session (1.5 hours) on a fairly modded server with 100 players online. https://imgur.com/a/mXg2Raf Maybe there is something unintentional happening behind the scenes but I'm not noticing it.

DayZ Frostline Dev Blog Week 30
DefectiveWater replied to lynn.zaw's topic in DayZ Frostline Expansion Dev Blog
If only... Few more months to go. -
As cool as it would be, I would prefer if devs focus on the bigger picture than just adding books. Bigger picture - stuff that modders can't do. There has to be a mod or two with working books.
-
Maybe limited by other headwear. Report the issue to the mod maker or the server admins of the server that you play on.

Spamming lean should also slow down the animation. Same way how crouch spamming gets slowed down in counterstrike.

TheRunningManZ's open letter to the DayZ developers
DefectiveWater replied to Kathosky's topic in General Discussion
There's not much left to say really. There have been hundreds of comments by the community on various topics (basebuilding, infected, gunplay, survival, modding, performance issues on consoles and AMD gpus and many more). I don't want to discredit the devs but it's been 10+ years and many aspects of the game are still lacking. One thing is obvious from the dev blogs, they are looking at the bigger picture and are laying the groundwork for the future of DayZ... or so I hope. -
DayZ Frostline Dev Blog Week 24
DefectiveWater replied to scott.bowen's topic in DayZ Frostline Expansion Dev Blog
My 4060 doesn't hit 100% in towns either but the FPS is stable. From my memory it goes from 90-95% out of towns to 50-70% in towns. Paired with a Ryzen 5600 (not great, not terrible) A friend of mine has RX 6000 series GPU and he just can't play the game. No matter what he does, he gets 30-40 FPS at most on lowest settings. That same GPU of his plays Cyberpunk 2077 with raytracing (and FSR and frame gen) without issues... So culprit is clearly DayZ/AMD. The only reason I went green with my last GPU upgrade was DayZ. Edit: apologies for going off-topic. -
DayZ Frostline Dev Blog Week 24
DefectiveWater replied to scott.bowen's topic in DayZ Frostline Expansion Dev Blog
It has been an issue with AMD cards ever since RX 5000 series if not older. It was supposedly fixed at one point with a driver update but that's about it. Seems like it's an issue on AMD's end. Would be great if devs could urge AMD to fix the issue if it really is AMD's fault. -

Keep the dev blogs coming, these are exciting and informative to see. Good to see that there's more to this than just Sakhal update. -
Recent changes to Zombies after 1.25 complaints. Noticeable Changes .
DefectiveWater replied to Astalonte's topic in General Discussion
I've played for a short bit yesterday and I haven't noticed any changes since the initial 1.25 release. -
Go into game settings and turn off HUD from there. Close settings, then go back and turn on HUD. It fixes it for me every time.

I've seen many suggestions on the forums, reddit and the feedback tracker but this one takes the top spot for creativity. 10/10

Disagree due to the broken melee range of the running heavy attack. It's crazy how much reach it has compared to regular melee. I would agree with it if they fix that + make it use more stamina than regular heavy attack. Overall great list once again.

Currently, seeing dead infected indicates player presence. There should be a chance for the infected to spawn dead. It would bring more uncertainty to the players because they wouldn't know if they are trailing a player or if it's just a game mechanic.
