Since we are talking about it, does drinking from a can/bottle with bloody hands give you salmonella? If so, that's dumb. Update: Yes you do... I just tested it (soda can so far), my guy has sick icon and is moaning in pain. Need to test water bottle once I'm cured. Update 2: Got cured, waiting for the pill icon to go away to test the water bottle. Update 3: So with that.. BOTH water bottles and soda cans give you salmonella if you drink with bloody hands. That's dumb.

80 something cheaters per day, nice. 2021 was a good year for DayZ, can't wait to see how it goes in 2022.
-
My guess is at most we might get a bit of graphical overhaul, but even that is a stretch. It makes more sense to me to make DayZ 2 than to update DayZ itself. All we know for 2022 is this: 1.16 will be stability update/ game "health" update mostly with server fixes? bug fixes? And we will probably get a new gun/weapon/clothing whatever asset. Depending on how good it ends up it will give them more room to do other things and add more features and thingies in the future. Livonia update is also planned. And apparently they also expect 5 updates this year, maybe more depending how the team expansion goes.

They probably have wet clothes, are cold and have food/water in the yellow or half full. I think it's something that experienced players can avoid more easily due to map knowledge and knowledge of mechanics (eating quick = throw up, cold = bad...) And if you've got nobody to show you it might be hard to learn a thing or two, cause nothing is explained in this game. I myself got sick more often (twice, I think) in the last patch or two, and honestly I'm loving the change. I finally need to worry about wet clothes and coldness. Right now I'm just bored cause I'm geared again (Plate carrier, Tundra, AK74, spare mags, spare ammo, plenty of food...). I'm wondering when will end game become more than just PVP and kinda debating whether or not to just drop all my loot, fire some bait shoots and then F11 in the middle of the road so somebody could loot it.

So is this is now just another generic shooter?
DefectiveWater replied to kumando's topic in General Discussion
I am not saying that time scale influences the speed of the game/hunger/guns breaking/shoes ruining, I am saying that the default values are balanced around default timescale. Game is scaled in a way so that a player can experience full life in only few hours of play time. Mate... Spaggies is literally pure vanilla, even official servers are easy, and I played around 600 hours on those (1PP, high-full pop). Spaggies server is the same as vanilla official. How do you not get that? You keep complaining about "the war game" "war game that" "war game this" and yet you are bothered by the simple task of finding food, which is easy to find on full official servers. Okay so let's make the game as realistic as possible, no running around everywhere because your character get's tired. Time to walk to NWAF from Berezino. Enjoy your 4 hour trip (possibly more due to all the obstacles and what not). Broke a leg? Well time to PLAY the game (not counting offline) for a month or two. Food shouldn't respawn because food doesn't just show up randomly, so you better be the first to loot the cities. LMAO. I'm done, you are getting blocked. Thank you for reading my post, have a nice day. -
So is this is now just another generic shooter?

Everything is sped up in DayZ. Guns break quicker, shoes ruin faster, your stamina regens quicker than in real life... and so does your food go away quicker. You are forgetting that you basically spawn starving to death, your character is hungry when you spawn, it has been like that since ever. I myself think that vanilla is easy, animals aren't rare, and on Spaggies vanilla server I currently have 6 deer steaks + full food and water. Food is fine on vanilla, if anything it's easy once you know your way around. The only way they could make DayZ less of a "eating simulator" that you say is to make food even more rare, but make starving even harder. EDIT: I still haven't seen yet one suggestion of yours to make the game a bit more survival focused, only complaints and rants. -
No. M4 is static toxic zone only. LAR still does what it always did: packs a lot of punch in a single shot while offering full auto capability. It does exactly what it needs to do.

Dayz needs a stun gun, let’s talk about it
DefectiveWater replied to Gostar28legacy's topic in General Discussion
Kinda yes, as far as I know most guns have a shorter uncon timer than they used to at first, and most times target can get up before you reach him. What's the point of the uncon if the player is unconned for like 6 seconds? I think a stun gun is a nice idea, play the uncon animation and all, but don't make the screen black and don't mute the audio. Just make a player unable to move while laying on the floor. Also should last longer than the typical uncon from a pistol. Police loot is garbage once you loot one or two mili places, and there's no reason that police loot is also garbage in high tier towns. DayZ needs more less lethal or non-lethal alternatives. Tasers, Stun guns, rubber bullets (not just slugs). Overall police loot needs new things like: Full Sized MP5, more modern shotty (could be short barreled for CQB and only 4 shots), lot's of missing russian SMGs in the game that could use 9mm and .380 ACP. Police batons, police belts, police boots/shoes (worse than military boots when it comes to insulation, but long lasting like military boots). Also how come DayZ doesn't have a swiss army knife? -
Still not the full potential of the new engine. For starters, DayZ doesn't have screen space reflections. Lakes look so bland, and when it's raining the road looks like it's dry, no shine to it. Enfusion seems to be capable of it though. Would be hella nice if DayZ had lakes like that. EDIT: Also IDK if the new engine is capable of Temporary AA methods, but they would certainly come in handy for some. Maybe even AMD's FSR?

False. Cheaters in games have existed since games existed. From GTA to Forza to CSGO to World of Tanks to League Of Legends to Battlefield to COD games. DayZ doesn't have a lot of cheaters, DayZ has an issue where a single cheater can ruin several hours of your gameplay.
-
And he's saying it's also easy to avoid HWID bans, so what you suggested is not a solution. Kernel anti-cheats run on the lowest level, thus they can see almost everything. So that might be the solution. I'm really confused by your last statement. What...? This is supposed to be anti-cheat discussion, right? How are we not talking about kernel? You mentioned Valorant. Valorant has kernel level anti-cheat...

Quite probably the reality we live in, at most maybe a graphical update will come to DayZ, but yeah... best to expect nothing. Time to continue daydreaming about DayZ 2 in 4-6 years. Hopefully in that time GPU market goes back to normal, my RX580 has been sweating a lot and it deserves some rest at this point.
-
That video? Probably not. Not saying DayZ 2 on a new engine isn't a possibility, but I think that's ARMA or In-Engine demo. But who knows... could be?
-
https://www.battleye.com/contact/ Battleye is responsible for bans.
-
Nobody said that tho, people don't say cheaters don't exist on community servers. It's just that there's generally less of them OR they are being actively moderated by admins (when they can and when they detect them). I would dare to say that "I repeat, in large numbers." is a false statement. All you need is a few with undetected cheats, not "large numbers".

Soft skills, Spray paint, No DIY attachments/gear (making AND upgrading gear in a DIY way) - excluding bottle suppressor, No DIY melee tools - there's a stone knife, and that's all?, Survival that takes more than just looting canned foods (hunting), Expanded base building, carrying dead bodies/injured players - we can finally carry chickens!, No swimming under water + drowning (altho kinda useless), Birds in the forests that scatter when player shoots/causes loud noise, No rabbits running around - possibly more animals could get added?, No advanced stationary crafting system with workbench which supposedly was going to get added at some point, maybe they decided against the idea, maybe they just never got to making it, No broken arms/ribs, Missing non-lethal options - there are rubber slugs which are kinda bad from what I know, Certain items are kinda useless: baseball caps, boonie hats, campfire tripod, field transceiver, feel free to continue this list... No opening a door while aiming, Crouching is currently the only way to be quieter, why can't we slow walk? No slow open door for stealth, No shooting out of cars, A simple trading option where player can grab an item out of your hand if you press a button, No destroyable environment - quite probably an engine limitation, and probably would be a pain in the rear for an open world game, No boats, No advanced cooking There's probably a few more ideas that have been mentioned more than 50 times throughout DayZ dev history, but yeah... They have priorities and current priority is to fix up the basics of the game: stability and just general gameplay loop. Throwing ideas around won't also get us anywhere, the only thing we can do is wait and hope for DayZ 2 in like 4-6 years that will fix and add lot's of new features.

So anti-stab vests in real life can tank .308 and x54mmR? I gotta sharpen up my bullets then...
-
I agree with these points, I don't agree with the hold breath thingy. I think it's fine, stamina(weight, inertia)/sway could use rework (more sway after running), but hold breath should be the way it is. Unless DayZ wants to have realistic gunplay, then hold breath as right now is not the way to go. DayZ is both a shooter game and a survival game tho, it also has basebuilding and zombies and overall it's a sandbox style game.

True, no difference between 1pp and 3pp except cheesing in 3pp, and the night darkness. Loot is the same, food is the same, everything else is the same. There are modded community servers which focus more on the hardcore side of things, try those out. I don't think vanilla will ever be true hardcore experience.
-
Just speculation on my part, but with Livonia changes coming in the next year, I feel like they'll take that chance (or they should take that chance) to change up the survival mechanics/hunting and stuff. Livonia seems like it could be a more hunting/DIY/crafting type of the map. Their focus at first might be to fix up the game and server stability a bit more before adding more stuff to it. I hope devs are ready to steer this ship into the right direction. Might not be easy, and might have few bumps, but I think they will get where they want to get.

constantly dying from starvation problem
DefectiveWater replied to Dan92Nor's topic in General Discussion
I really don't have any issues with food/thirst. Stop being cold (get clothes, dry them up, warm up next to fire), stop sprinting around. Eat more. In the game you spawn pretty much starving anyway. They need to make food even more scarce if you ask me. Still too easy. -
This is the issue. Pixelated rendering of foliage. Notice the specific pattern in the trees, bushes and grass. RX580 here no such issue, seems to affect only more modern AMD GPUs.

Rework sickness and Zombie awareness!
DefectiveWater replied to Ace244's topic in General Discussion
Game is supposed to be hard. If this is too much for you... then try modded servers (they can be even harder tho, but most are easier). Sickness isn't really an issue if you aren't cold/wet/starving/dehydrated. Fish/hunt/collect canned foods, eat, get meds, get warm, pop vitamins, you should be good to go. -
Sounds like a good idea. Would make having a mask and going to the zones worth the time if you are starving and such.

aiming bug or wtf is thise,no one known
DefectiveWater replied to VAN SKO's topic in Troubleshooting
Server thinks you are crouched. Game/server has some issues with multiple actions at the same time. Just crouch again, should fix it.
