    M4 is Rediculous

    Nothing authentic when it shoots at 900 RPM. And don't tell me that google says 700-950 rpm or whatever, you know damn well that bog standard military issued m4 doesn't shoot at 900+ RPM. M4 in other games: Arma apparently 667 or so(bad engine?). Insurgency has M4 shooting at 740 RPM. Rainbow 6 Siege at 750 RPM. Tarkov at 800 RPM. Battlefield at 800 RPM. CODMW at 857 RPM (AK47 shoots at 561 RPM in CODMW which is kinda low, so not the most accurate numbers in CODMW). The only game that comes close to 900 RPM is CODMW at 857 RPM... every other game has it at 740-800. It's a fast gun, but not 900 RPM kinda fast. When it comes to recoil, it's noticeable that at the beginning of a spray his muzzle kicks up, but once the initial kick happens, he can easily control it. He does have a front foregrip which is probably helping with the recoil control a bit. Not saying that average person can control it, but having controllable recoil in DayZ seems reasonable.

    M4 is Rediculous

    750 RPM and less damage would be how I would do it. In my opinion 2 AKM shots should be equal or slightly less damage compared to 3 M4 shots. If AKM is: 600 RPM * 90 Damage = 54000 Damage per minute Then M4 should have approximately the same DPM if you ask me. M4 -- 750 RPM * x = 54000, so damage ends up being 72. So around 72 damage, or at most I would give it 80. If 72-80 damage or so get's pushed, I would do this*: M4 should be easier to control, lower damage, higher ROF, better attachments AKM should be harder to control, more random, higher damage, lower ROF, worse attachments But here's the issue... DayZ CAN'T do 750 RPM. So for the time being I would prefer they make it 600 RPM until they fix it (just RPM change, no need to touch stats), if they won't fix it then they should nerf the damage even more, 900 RPM -> 60-70 damage and follow my 72-80 damage proposal*.

    You only have 200gb SSD? Game isn't on a hard drive perhaps? I've heard stories that game starts lagging in a weird way once it's not on the same drive as Steam. And your SSD isn't full?

    I tested it out quickly yesterday, took 5 mins but my wound healed and my blood was flashing red. I was full on blood at the start, and approx 75% HP. At least I didn't bleed out, but it's still silly that zeds make you bleed that quick. Wish I could compare that to .308 somehow.

    Yup. I don't think they spawn damaged, like ever. I could achieve this by hitting the wall with them. Ended up spawning them "Badly Damaged" just to save time. I have seen a clip or two half a year or year ago where somebody got shot and the shot hit their scope I think. From left to right, top to bottom: Baraka (looks almost brand new, no cracks just dirtier), ACOG, RVN, Combat Sights, Handgun scope ACOG 6x, PSO-1, P1-87-L? that big ugly AK scope. Scope damage can happen, but tbh it's reaaaaaally rare. Maybe I should have picked a different background for screenshots... not a gray wall, but whatever. EDIT: You can also damage scopes on dropped guns. Mounted pristine scope on Mosin, dropped it on the ground and shot the scope few times with UMP. Scope became ruined. I think it's fair to say gunshots can damage your scope while you are holding the rifle/carrying the rifle on your back. EDIT2: OFC the only scope that has literally no visible damage on the lens is the hunting scope, since it uses a 2d overlay instead of the 3d model.

    Bleeding to death from a scratch, only in DayZ. Wasn't this game supposed to be authentic and somewhat realistic? What's the bleeding rate between a zombie hit and a .308 win, if anyone knows? Kinda the point of protective gear, to protect you from weak stuff/melee. Not to make pristine stab vests save you from a .308... STAB vests... Not only do you survive, but you are left on 25 HP if not more. STAB vest btw Emphasis on STAB...

    Well I just went and did a quick test. All of the scopes are aiming in the same general area, off by at most few meters. You can see the yellow tree on the bottom of all the screenshots. There is in fact a darker, slightly greenish filter only on PU scope. To be honest... I think it's fine? I suppose it's meant to be like that cause it's an older scope than the rest... not sure. Not enough for me to notice without testing, but there is a difference. Didn't know. Hunting scope has no overlays, no glare, no shine, nothing. 2 ACOGs have just glare and reflection a bit, Mosin has least glare.

    I don't get how zombies make you lose blood so quick anyway, they became the Wolverine from X-Men? I mean it's not every other cut, but still... I would rather prefer they do more health and shock damage instead of bleeding.

    Random Toxic Zones

    Wait, you want official servers to have an ability to periodically remove gas from the static zones? Wouldn't be a bad thing, but then what's the point of NBC gear if you can just wait it out and go when the zone is clear of gas? Not a good argument if you ask me, admins can already exploit things as it is now, and if they do then that server isn't worth playing on anyway, adding this wouldn't change admins cheating. But I do agree on this.

    While the effect is similar, it's not the same. Taser shouldn't make you uncon, but force you in a similar mechanic where you can't move, you are on the ground, but you see and hear everything. Taser isn't: as loud as a shotgun, as heavy as a shotgun, as big as a shotgun.

    I don't know. Gunplay and gun mechanics in DayZ seem really barebones compared to what a game like DayZ should have, but I understand your skepticism. If they managed to make rags have "disinfected" status, they could have guns have "clean" status for X amount of shots before lowering it's condition value (worn, pristine thingy). Don't rags loose disinfected status too after they get damaged/wet? I'm kinda sure it's something like that, but I might be wrong. I heard from rumors that it was intended for that, either repairing, or crafting or whatever. Maybe that rumor isn't true, maybe they didn't have time (probably), maybe that's not their vision for the game. Would be cool to be able to mount scopes on guns that don't have supporting rails and such.
  14. Nobody can refund your gear on official servers. People will advise you to play on community servers as those could have admins that ban the cheaters, otherwise official servers depend on anti-cheat (last year more than 30k+ bans, so a bit over 80 cheaters per day). You might still run into occasional cheater on community server though. Cheating is sadly common on PC, and many games suffer from this issue. The best you can do is know that somebody is so bad that he needs cheats to play the game, and smile and continue along with your game/day. If you have any issues about cheaters, your best bet is to try and contact Battleye, but even then you shouldn't expect much.

    Agreed, preventive maintenance should be possible, thus prolonging the time before the item gets damaged. Also gun overheating would be a cool mechanic where higher heat = more damage to the gun. Guns IRL don't become damaged after firing few mags, they get dirtier and dirtier the more you shoot, and that can produce unwanted wear of moving parts. So if they are clean and lubed up they should be able to shoot as much as you want.

    It's actually not underground. Even if it was underground, upon server restarts all objects would be spawned on the surface (same happens with cars in sheds and zombies in houses). It's a neat little trick where it's placed somewhere around the map out of bounds, and moves your character there in an enclosed "room" that has ground/earthy textures and dark ambience to make it seem like it's underground. So other people were right, you CAN'T have ACTUAL underground terrain/bases without some trickery. You can have an enclosed room that looks like it's underground placed somewhere random (maybe in the sky, or out of bounds), + dark filter to make it seem darker than it really is - cause DayZ doesn't support dark lighting, hence why houses look brightly light indoors. Then combine that room with a hatch model that has "Press F to enter" which actually teleports you to that random location. So yeah... some clever trickery to achieve a similar but not genuine result. Still a cool mod.

    Dynamic gas zones

    Just few suggestions regarding dynamic gas zones. I love that you guys added more PVE into the game, but I feel like dynamic zones are missing much needed possibility to survive them. #1: The red flare indicator is hard to spot during day time, and I feel like that should also be looked into. Would be nice if warnings were transmitted either through walkie-talkies or the PA system. #2: Dynamic gas zones should be a weaker form of gas that is only bad to breathe. No bleeding/gas poisoning through the bleeds. Gives players with gas masks a chance to loot the zombie-free area. #3: Dynamic gas zone duration should be shorter or dependent on the wind speed in the game. The more windy it is, the shorter the gas lasts.

    Quite probably that's exactly what happened when the development went to... s*** and when everyone realized that first Standalone was actually in a bad state of things. I'm 100% sure that there is around 50/50 old/new players right now, and not everyone plays at the same time, so game could have more than 100k unique players easily.

    Not correct. Hoarded up stuff doesn't count for the CLE anymore. AK101 - count_in_cargo="0" count_in_hoarder="0" count_in_map="1" count_in_player="0" crafted="0" deloot="0" AK74 - count_in_cargo="0" count_in_hoarder="0" count_in_map="1" count_in_player="0" crafted="0" deloot="0" AKM - count_in_cargo="0" count_in_hoarder="0" count_in_map="1" count_in_player="0" crafted="0" deloot="0" AKS74U - count_in_cargo="0" count_in_hoarder="0" count_in_map="1" count_in_player="0" crafted="0" deloot="0" M4A1 - count_in_cargo="0" count_in_hoarder="0" count_in_map="1" count_in_player="0" crafted="0" deloot="0" FAL - count_in_cargo="0" count_in_hoarder="0" count_in_map="1" count_in_player="1" crafted="0" deloot="1" Just a few examples, but this is pretty much for all guns if I'm not mistaken. So as you can see, guns like AK74 don't even have "count_in_player" tag. So if you had 200 people with AK74s, and server only allowed 5 to spawn, it will still spawn 5 of them.

    Out of memory Error Dayz

    And you are on the Windows platform which auto-updates over time and it probably became heavier to run. You were probably on the edge of barely working. DayZ has 12 gigs recommended AFAIK. 2 things you could do: 1) obvious one, buy more RAM. 2) Google/Search YouTube how to debloat windows for less RAM use, but beware that some functionalities could be sacrificed in turn. This might not fix it, but there is a slim chance it could give you a slim chance for it to work. Oh almost forgot, 3rd thing: increase your pagefile size, might help. Best of luck!

    Question about Christmas content

    It works just like helicrashes (same locations), but the sound distance is much longer than a helicrash (not 100% sure, but it sure does feel like it). Occasionally you can find a gift at the "helicrash". They are also a good source of food, usually there are like 2 reindeers there that give lot's of meat once you skin them. I found gift boxes under the big christmas trees in certain towns, if they are pristine they are unopened i think. once you open it you can repack something in it, but it gets worn/damaged.

    Oh, so ya'll are talking about when water bottle is being passed around between players. In that case I have no idea, one would expect with removal of sterilizing the water bottles they would also remove the potential sickness, but... maybe they didn't remove it. I can't test it myself cause I've got no second player. But test should go as follows: - player A is sick with cholera, player B is not sick with anything - player A drinks half of the contents from a CLEAN water bottle - player B puts chlorine tabs into the water bottle, and drinks it If: player B gets sick, then water bottles (plastic) truly can be infected and not only the contents of it. If: player B doesn't get sick, then only the contents of the bottle can get infected... Shame that for a game with so many different mechanics wikia isn't updated more regularly with correct info. Some people used to also say that having a mask on while sick makes the mask infected, but I never experienced that. Maybe it is possible, maybe it isn't. I'm just speaking from my own experience, as I'm sure you guys are too. Somebody should test all of this out and then we are done with the discussion.

    Sterilize with what? Alcohol tincture? Disinfectant spray? You will sterilize your water inside of a water bottle with undrinkable fluid? That's not really how it works. Chlorine tabs, boiling or filling with fresh clean water are the only ways to have clean water. Every water bottle has contaminates inside of it's contents, not on the plastic bottle. Although some people keep saying there is contaminates on the bottle itself, but I've yet to experience it. Would be nice if somebody could provide some evidence for that or do some testing on video. Wouldn't be surprised if bottles get bugged sometimes for some people, so they don't drain out completely. Cholera causes puking, water inside of water bottles have a 50/50 chance of having cholera, it's not salmonella. Plus as I said, be careful about drinking with bloody hands, that still gives you sickness even though you aren't physically touching the contents of it. I reported that issue to the feedback tracker.
