    Zombies

I think they already do, talking in voice chat makes them aggroed so I assume doing other things can also aggro them. I would love that but how would they implement that without too big of a performance hit? DayZ has many buildings, I don't think we will ever see it implemented. Agreed, would love to see this.

    # Construction in DayZ. Problems and suggestions.

Metal mesh seems like a great idea. DayZ needs more traps/defensive mechanisms. Not sure if authorization list would fit DayZ, but the idea seems interesting.

Dayz's Flawed Foundations: Movement and Gunplay

Unless I misunderstood you... From this it seems to me like you are saying DayZ is here where it is just because of consoles, with all it's issues, flaws and drawbacks. No, none of this is because of consoles, the only blame could go to the unfinished engine for the game. BI is responsible for that engine, so all the blame should go to them. I don't think DayZ would have been any better if they kept it PC only tbh.

Still waiting for his reasoning for this bold statement, probably won't get any answers.

Dayz's Flawed Foundations: Movement and Gunplay

Thank you for finally shifting the blame from consoles to the only thing that is the cause of all of it, and that's BI. I won't blame Dean Hall or anyone personally, it's not a single person job, and making a game and then having all of your progress deleted due to an engine change isn't a fun thing. The best thing we can do as players is keep reporting issues and deliver balancing/wishlist feedback to BI - and BI hopefully will take our opinions and at least think it through. We've been here long enough, and at this point we deserve to be heard. I'm looking forward to the 2022 roadmap, and I hope BI will be transparent and real with us. I would love if they said how it actually is, how's the game progressing and what kind of technical issues they are facing. I'm sure all players would love more insight into the development. They did say they will try fixing cars, and they probably have tried, maybe even fixed it internally... maybe what's stopping them from implementing their new car physics is the current state of the servers/game, maybe they need to optimize the servers further for the fixed cars to show any promises. Who knows... just don't blame console players for any changes to the game. They want the same hardcore experience most of us do, we all want the game to succeed.

But see, here's the thing, old character controller might have been at the dead end. They probably couldn't have added features as easy as it may be now. Sure the base for the current character controller might not be as fleshed out as the old one, but it may have higher ceiling. If you ask me it's more "immersive" to only slightly move the stick to go slow, and fully move it to go at max jogging speed. PC has only on/off toggles which might be fine, but analog sticks have the advantage of offering a range from 0-100% instead of only 0 and 100%. Main reason why playing racing games on keyboard sucks.

Also, don't blame the devs, blame BI management or higherups for rushing a project that clearly wasn't ready for public release. Sure it's dev's responsibility to finish the game, but when you are having issues with engine and development the only thing you can do is ask for more time. "Hicks felt heard by the development team, but the problems kept recurring. He was particularly upset when Bohemia began planning to release DayZ’s 0.63 build as the game’s official 1.0. “This is a bad idea,” he said: “We don’t have the feature set in the game right now that our store page has said is our target for the last four years.”" - https://www.pcgamer.com/for-hundreds-of-days-brian-hicks-battled-to-finish-dayz-and-didnt-quite-get-there/ Early access was a mistake too. If the game was silently in development for 4 years at least, we wouldn't have been hearing "9 years in development/9 years since early access" but "game has been out for a year and they fully changed the engine, let's give them a bit of time to flesh it out".

Dayz's Flawed Foundations: Movement and Gunplay

I heard from rumors that DayZ was always meant to be co-developed with the new Enfusion engine, but... making an engine takes time, so DayZ development took much longer than anticipated. There is nothing to blame consoles for. Sure they released the game on the consoles, but that doesn't change the fact that they just didn't have the engine for the game ready. They COULDN'T from a technical standpoint make the game they wanted to make. You could blame consoles for 0.64 > 1.0 version jump, but to be honest everyone was sick of their Early Access BS excuses, they had the game in development for so long there is nobody else to blame but BI. Game put in development way too early, work on the new engine barely started so they had to use old stuff and eventually ditch it and transfer to the new stuff, hence we lost so many features the game used to have. So to sum it up, the only blame could go on BI for not having the engine early enough, thus prolonging the development of DayZ for so long and making a mess out of it. I'm sure Enfusion will have server side vehicles just like DayZ, but now DayZ is suffering from the early implementation of that.

Dayz's Flawed Foundations: Movement and Gunplay

Isn't it obvious that it's unfinished though? With all the flaws this current character controller has (falling animation bug, crouch cancelling aiming...), to me it looks like it's unfinished. Old movement system (dont forget deaths by ladders, broken legs cause of stairs...) wasn't really any better than the current one besides some features which I assume will be added back in eventually (walking uphills) and even expanded further than the old engine could have been. Still, nothing here suggests that it's consoles who are at fault here. It's just a genuine engine upgrade in which they are using more modern methods to achieve same results which offer more flexibility and upgradability.

So let me get this straight, are you saying the "new" character controller is worse than the old one?

Dayz's Flawed Foundations: Movement and Gunplay

I'm begging you, please tell me which are major changes other than the new player controller and hit indicators that made the game so much worse that are clearly console fault? Zeds have been made harder last year. Energy/hydration has been made harder last year (albeit in kind of lazy way by increasing the loss rate, but it is harder) Immune system has been made harder last year. Guns deal a ton more damage than they used to (for example, SKS went from 55 > 105 damage). They introduced gas zones. They brought back broken bones which is 2 years ago. They added wound infections last year(not sure when exactly). All of those things make the game harder, and you keep going on about dumbing the game down to consoles... The only legit thing I heard so far that could be blamed on consoles is this: Absolutely unplayable, consoel bad /s

Dayz's Flawed Foundations: Movement and Gunplay

My point is you are blaming console market for an unfinished game... literally 0 features have been added to make it easier for consoles. Character controller was gonna change anyway, they are testing the new engine with DayZ, character controller is part of the new engine. Nothing wrong with having new character controller that works with controllers and keyboards, old engine was pure garbage. And if you are going onto such a big rant just because hit indicators, you gotta be kidding me if you blame that on console market... I guess the point is that we actually agree that BI made a mistake by releasing the game so early and unfinished, but the hatred towards consoles is unnecessary.

(nvm, dont care, deleted my post)
  14. DefectiveWater

Dayz's Flawed Foundations: Movement and Gunplay

And is the game any worse with the new character controller? New character controller is obviously unfinished. Buggy falling animation when you are next to a wall, no inertia, no weight, leaning while sprinting, zooming up the mountains like Usain Bolt... This is the only fair point you could make about dumbing the game down, but that is not consoles fault. Console players never asked for it, neither did PC players. If it was console fault you would have easy mode servers only on console and PC would have only hardcore servers, but it's not like that. Not a console issue, it was like that always. Played on 0.4 something version several years ago and lived only on canned tuna because I couldn't be bothered with opening it with a knife or can opener. Didn't even need to hunt or fish, and we played in a group of 3. If anything it's harder now with all the immune system changes and zed changes. Food is still as common as it always has been. Console and PC players here on the forum have been begging for more survival focus for a long time. You are blaming the wrong side. Second fair statement you made. DayZ never had an engine ready, everything made prior to the last 3 years has been pretty much scrapped except asset models and textures, maybe some sounds too. What we are pretty much playing is a alpha/beta state game that has been somewhat polished to be playable. This is obvious when you look at the game version jumping from 0.64 to 1.0 cause console makers were not happy with the game being published and unfinished for so long so they had to stop with Early Access shenanigans. DayZ has been a testing platform for the new Enfusion engine, that's the reason why there are so many issues today. Not because of consoles.

Wow, and? The discussion isn't about how many consoles you got, discussion is about what DayZ dumbed down to make the game more appealing to consoles. All I see is baseless hate towards console players and 0 examples of how consoles made DayZ worse.

Dayz's Flawed Foundations: Movement and Gunplay

Decent but slightly outdated PC specs? is that what you mean? Like seriously people... how big of conspiracy theorists can you get? console this, console that... and yet THE MOST popular servers on PC, the platform you are so proud of, are 3pp with traders and tarkov gun arsenal with HEAVY PVP focus and I can't forget loot100x...
  17. DefectiveWater

Dayz's Flawed Foundations: Movement and Gunplay

I seriously hope you are joking, because if not that's 3 people just blaming consoles for something they can't explain. DayZ was always in a bad state, consoles never affected that.

    STOPPING POWER!

Oh, wait did you imagine that insides had like baffles made out of the duct tape? or that it was stuffed with duct tape? I think they just should nerf the bottle suppressors massively (usable on lower calibers for a shot or two, almost no effect on biggest calibers). Crafting DIY suppressors using gas canisters, oil filters, etc (in the industrial workshop buildings)... would be a cool addition too, not as quiet or durable as real suppressors (this would be a good chance to buff real suppressors to make them last longer), but better than bottle ones, but... that might be a little too much to ask for.

    2022 Road map.... devs?

I guess this is then why I don't see any cheaters, makes sense tbh. I'll edit my original statement as it was uncalled for. Yeah, 100% agreed. I remember the times I saw few cheaters in the game, absolutely ruined multiple hours of my playtime.

    2022 Road map.... devs?

"BattlEye bans: 30,000+ (+25% compared to last year)" - https://dayz.com/article/general/DayZ-2021-Year-in-Review They are doing something though. Every FPS game has aimbots and wallhacks, none of them managed to get rid of them.

    STOPPING POWER!

Just drop the discussion, silencer = suppressor. Done. How would a HOLLOW empty space slow down a bullet? What doesn't make sense is that plastic bottle suppressors can suppress x54mmR and .308 as well as they do. It's still loud AF, makes no sense it's as durable and quiet as it is in the game. So why does the scout magically do 105 damage?
  25. DefectiveWater

    STOPPING POWER!

I agree with you that current damage system needs some tweaks (primarily slight 5.56 nerf 5-10% and slight .357 and .45 buffs also around 5-10%), but overall I don't agree with your suggestions. You are suggesting this: Scout dealing 105, Repeater 105 and M4 magically deals only 50, M16 75 and AKS-74U deals 35? How does the same bullet deal twice more damage when fired from Scout compared to the M4? How so? Bullet gains velocity from the gas in the barrel, once it exits the barrel it's not gonna get slowed down magically. At best from the first shot you might have a minimal unmeasurable velocity decrease due to it penetrating plastic bottle bottom. Plastic bottles suppress too much though, should be louder. P.S. you should know that they are the same thing and both are correct. Stop being a snowflake.
