Feel free to decide on your own if it works or not, but if you ask me... that doesn't work.
-
If you ask me water bottles should only suppress .22 for multiple shots, and 9mm/.45 for a few but not much. Everything else should have no effect. Gas canisters or car oil filters? now those would be better but require more crafting.

Yeah, that counter/stats has been bugged for years probably. Doesn't seem to be a priority fix either.

I don't know why you two gotta act like kids, but anyway... i don't get why bohemia doesn't just let people configure the buttons on consoles the same way as we can configure on PC. Give people presets and a custom layout and everyone is satisfied, and how hard is it to implement a deadzone setting?

state of shock damage and "uncon meta"
DefectiveWater replied to Buakaw's topic in General Discussion
Agreed, I think this would make a bigger change to the gameplay than making snipers essentially useless. But what's the point of having a bolt action sniper rifle if the target can just walk away after being shot? Maybe if there was an additional mechanic, not uncon but still forced to drop down on the ground (i'll call it dropped for the sake of it, and player can't get up immediately)? They could make it so like there are 2 different threshold shock values. Lower value (65) = dropped, higher (80) = uncon. Character does the full uncon animation with a gun in his hand. After a second or so after falling on the ground your character could get into this pose: If something like this is implemented uncon range of weapons could be reduced, but the dropped mechanic could compensate for the lost uncon range. You are still a sitting duck in the open if you get shot but at least it's not an instant black screen. If necessary, they could also increase the uncon duration to make it last longer due to uncon range reduction. Agreed about that, 300 is a bit much. But even if my idea isn't implemented, I still think that there should be something between uncon and zig zagging like a mad man after getting shot. -
I think shotguns are OP for their tier (coastal loot), so moving them further inland would be a good change and give SMGs some time to shine. Maybe adding some shorter barrel single/dual shot shotgun (either a new one, or sawed off as a spawn) as a rare coastal spawn could be a thing.

Servers kept crashing from what I know, they'll work on a fix urgently today. Stay tuned, for up to date info best to check out DayZ twitter.

Once again, a great list of suggestions. I hope devs will take notes from this (and previous suggestions of yours) and consider them and ideally implement at least some of them.

Steam has a 2 hours of playtime/2 weeks since purchase return policy, I think. Never tried it myself so do some research on it.

Dayz's Flawed Foundations: Movement and Gunplay
DefectiveWater replied to lakevu's topic in Suggestions
Never played EFT personally, but I did play other "realistic" games like Red Orchestra 2 and yeah... DayZ's weapon handling is kinda too simple for a game it's trying to be. I'm not saying it needs to be as complex as any of those, but some improvements would be nice. -
Wipe was on April 19th, and everything was wiped. Everything else is player caused (i.e. destroying the base) OR it decayed on it's own (each item has a lifespan that is reset every time it's interacted with). I think without a flag base decays for 45 days. Other items on the ground might vary from a few hours to few days.

Unmess whatever you were doing? Were you making any changes in the GPU settings, or was it only in the game settings? If you made changes in game settings then I would advise you to find DayZ settings configuration file (C:\Users\**replace with username of your pc**\Documents). Make a backup somewhere of "DayZ.cfg" and "username_settings.DayZProfile" and then delete those 2 and start up the game. Game will reset your settings and automatically recreate those 2 files, if that didn't fix it then delete the newly created files and replace them with the files you have backed up. OR If you made changes in the GPU settings then research how to reset GPU settings to default. If on AMD system, I think the option you need to disable in GPU settings is called: "Launch with AMD Eyefinity" Go to gaming tab >> Click on DayZ >> turn off that option on the right side of the window Not sure if all this will help as I've never run triple monitor setups, but it's worth a shot at least if you didn't try it yet. If you did anything extra, you just gotta revert it back to normal values.

Make it possible to remove items from containers (i.e. clothes, med kits, backpacks, etc…)
DefectiveWater replied to SoullessSibyl's topic in Suggestions
Console? I have experienced some funky stuff as of recent on PC regarding inventory. Certain containers being closed by default, and resetting upon login. I don't get why clothing items even have close/open feature to begin with. -

DefectiveWater replied to SoullessSibyl's topic in Suggestions
That's also a thing they need to consider in changing. Empty clothing items (backpacks and such) should be able to be "folded up" where they take less space but can't carry anything or opened up where they can carry stuff, but they take more space. Folded "out" backpack should take more space than it's max storage slots. Let's say you find a 42 slot backpack. Folded up it should take less slots when stored, but have no slots available in it. But "folded out" it should take more space (ideally depending on how stuffed it is + minimum size when it's folded up, but I don't think that will be possible with the slot system). Agreed. -

DefectiveWater replied to SoullessSibyl's topic in Suggestions
This and the excess of inventory slots (stuff like Baby AK in a Hunting jacket... like really?) are my 2 gripes with the inventory (aside from bugs and stuff...) Backpacks shouldn't have the ability to hotbar items, at least if you ask me. Now the other points like: removing the backpack... idk, I guess I would be fine with it? but probably a lot of people wouldn't. -
I am tired of the randomization of player characters
DefectiveWater replied to Bull Durham's topic in Suggestions
I wonder this too, I don't see much point EXCEPT one: Admins (maybe streamers too) changing in-game name regularly so cheaters won't know if admin is stalking/following them? But there are no admins on official, so that point of mine doesn't make much sense. -
Binoculars take up too many inventory slots.
DefectiveWater replied to BERAKAS's topic in General Discussion
I understand the point of it. It's supposed to be a way to negate the advantage of having big 4k screens. In all honesty keeping it is fine, but reduce it's power to ~25% of what it is now, make wearing Glasses increase that zoom (still less than current zoom level). -
Binoculars take up too many inventory slots.
DefectiveWater replied to BERAKAS's topic in General Discussion
Yeah, why use them when eye zoom is instant and free. Binocs take up inventory space, takes time to pull them out, takes time to look through them, and you can't move while you do that. Leaving you extremely vulnerable whereas you could just use eye zoom and move closer to the monitor. Eye zoom either needs a big nerf, or Binocs need a huge QOL buff (attachment slot, smaller size, faster/easier to look through + allow for moving). -
And thus it makes all the other belts useless. I think it should be able to take the belt attachments (or at least 2 attachments, but removing the knife slot by default - needs a sheath), but the durability should be much lower than standard belt, but standard belts should be able to take more (Gas masks for example, pouches for pistol mags, medium melee weapon attachment point - like hatchet) Overall DayZ could use more utility slots, and overall storage size of clothing items should be reduced (medium size firearms in hunting jackets... like come on... this isn't GTA).

Give me a refund Bohemia - Warning (0x000400F0)
DefectiveWater replied to Youlaseas's topic in General Discussion
https://feedback.bistudio.com/project/view/2/ Did you post your issue here? Also, here's some random comments from people having same issue as you do, their suggestions might help you: Here's a response I found from BI employee: Are you trying to join official or community server? Hopefully some of these fixes it for you (maybe you tried all of them already), but sadly I have to say you might not get your refund by contacting BI. Keep contacting Steam customer service and explain your situation to them. -
There's a setting in Nvidia software thingy to show FPS counter somewhere, so I would suggest that one if all you care is FPS numbers. Just google something like: "nvidia enable fps counter" There's also Afterburner, it's mostly a overclocking tool (don't overclock though) but it has a REALLY detailed On-Screen Display overlay (framerate, frametimes, gpu usage, gpu temps, gpu frequency, gpu memory frequency... but that's probably overkill lol). From what I remember back in the day people would run FRAPS (video recording software) but they wouldn't record but only enable "show fps" setting. But as I said, I would recommend you to stick to the Nvidia software just so you don't have to download extra 3rd party tools.

Should run it just fine and dandy on decent settings with good frames and 0 issues (I'm guessing high/very high on 1080p with 100+ fps almost all the time) 4gb VRAM on the GPU might be a tad low for some games, but in DayZ it will be fine (i've got RX580 with 4gb too and this old card runs it fine) If you end up having stutters in some games, try lowering texture quality from like extreme/ultra to veryhigh/high cause textures affect VRAM a lot.

What happened to sniper rifles?
DefectiveWater replied to Richard Lepore's topic in General Discussion
Game has had some balance changes as of somewhat recent. Less instakills, and more uncons. In general, wearing no armor is more dangerous now (more base damage across all guns pretty much) but armor protects you more (Stab vest, press vest, plate carrier) From the "big 3": (note: i'm talking about chest shots in all scenarios) Blaze - one shot uncon vs plate at ~130 meters (almost 140) - Blaze capable of one shot kills without armor till ~360 meters - single shot. Mosin - one shot uncon vs plate at ~240 meters (almost 250) - Mosin capable of one shot kills without armor till ~400 meters. Tundra - one shot uncon vs plate at ~220 meters (almost 230) - Tundra capable of one shot kills without armor till ~440 meters. Blaze is the weakest one of them all, but it has a double shot mode which should make it capable of one shot unconning a plate at ~830 meters if I'm not wrong. Google wobo dayz tools and find damage drop off tool to check out damage charts. -
Agreed, for now they should make a clear differentiation between m4 rate of fire and famas. (600 m4, 900 famas) Hopefully they eventually change the system which I really doubt they will, but m4 at 900 RPM makes famas less unique.
