The hunger system isn't 'realistic'. Characters don't even need to sleep in this 'hardcore game' or go to the toilet. It's a game.
-
It's only OP against players who sit in a bush 200m away with a scoped rifle. It doesnt't stand up in a fire fight against anything automatic at all. Just because you can't one-shot a guy eating his beans while he's looting doesn't make it OP. The stab vest makes dirty snipers think about their follow-up and puts the onus onto them to at least take SOME risk when approaching for the kill. Can't live in that bush forever folks, take some risk.

I suppose the issue is, or my issue specifically is, I thought I knew how the loot system worked, and up until recently it seemed to work as predicted and I could find what I wanted quite reliably. I've never had a problem with the CLE in any of its incarnations, as I've know what to expect of it. As it stands now though, in a low population vanilla server, I know could fill a barrel full of M4s by the end of the day, yet I haven't found anything of note at a helicrash for a long time. That leads me to believe the balance is off. I actually preferred it when everything was rare because stashes counted towards max counts.
-
Remember to go into Rify and get an M4 or AKM each time, everytime. Sometimes both in one trip! Yea, helis are almost pointless.

I don't understand how, even in an empty/very low pop official server, the heli loot can be so bad. None of the loot is effected by players hoarding any more, so it doesn't make a lot of sense to me why NVGs are still so hard to find, when 5 are allowed to spawn, and there's 2 people online for example. And it's not just NVG, add LARs, AUG etc to your chances and finding nothing good seems quite unlikely. Something feels off to me.

They obviously have a deadline and they have to meet it, players be damned. QC in games in general is shocking at the moment. Steam/Sony/Microsoft need to put their foot down with regards to stuff like this. Get it right or it's not going on the store.

I don't think the point of experimental is to fix bugs before release. It seems to give them the opportunity to give the devs a 2/3 week head start to fix the bugs it eventually gets released with. That's how it seems anyway.

PS5 is in dire need of an update solely focused on stability/bug fixes, as do all other consoles as far as I can see.

I really don't think duping is a problem anymore, I can't remember the last time I suspected someone of it. What I think gets forgotten is, there are groups of players who PVP and raid constantly and exclusively. When you play in a group of 4 or more, steam-rolling players/bases week in, week out, stashing, you soon have so much gear/grenades no base can stand in your way. How do you balance that? A solo player will always be way less efficient then 6 working together. Do make bases hard to raid for the group of 6? If so, it's now impossible for a solo. I don't know the answer.

Has Xbox received it on experimental? I don't see a forum post for 1.18 going experimental on Xbox and was wondering if consoles are getting this within the same time-frame? I play on PS5, we don't get experimental and the lack of a forum post for consoles concerned me.

Does the B.I company have any plans to combat the large number of hacks on vanilla servers?
RZ0R replied to Pirilampo-7bba2bef23275432's topic in General Discussion
I play on console and the only issues I've experienced are players exploiting glitches, but they're few and far between, and generally get patched out quickly enough. -
Bumping this because it's a great suggestion. It would bring use to rifle mounted torches too, to mess up your enemies natural night vision. Also, nerf NVGs into the ground. Limit their viewing range to 30-50m max for example, and have them badly effected by torches/bright light. They're still way too OP, even if they are now a bit rarer. I'd even make the battery consumption high, so you can't just throw them on and forget, you have to pick your moments to use them. The main benefit of NVGs should be 1.) not advertising your position at night, while 2.) having some low light visibility. At the moment they're still night time god/easy mode. Its too much. Perhaps people wouldn't leave the server when it got dark if they could confidently utilise head-torches, without the fear of an NVG squad wiping them with a BK18.

Did PC not yet directional hit effects?
-
Now they seem to have 'unoptimised' the PS5 after optimising it a few patches back, it's even easier to exploit. You can close your app and load back in so much sooner due to the PS5s SSD. For the same X-ray effect (as I believe it is referred to) you can also turn 180 degrees from where you suspect there to be an enemy in a building, zoom into the horizon with a 12x hunting scope for a few seconds, then quickly turn back around 180 degrees and you can see through buildings again for a seconds. You don't even need to close the app! Top tip. Please fix.

The loss of game sound followed by a hard crash is worse than ever (PS5) Seems to be when in close proximity of other players causing it.
-
The worst part of this update is the return of a number of old bugs. You just can't expect players to go out of their way to report bugs, fix them, to have them return later. A waste of everyone's time. The new items are going in the right direction though, so that's nice.

I play PS official and any busy server is quite bad with stuttering and desync, which gets worse the further away you are from the last reset. It's particularly bad when you're near the coast due to there being more players nearby. Livonia is bad for it just because the map doesn't encourage you to go inland as much as Chernarus does, so you are always near lots of people. The entire problem with cars seems to be caused by busy servers. The fact that this hasn't been addressed leads me to believe that although it feels like the server, it's actually the game that's the problem. Medium population servers are the best balance between reliability and interaction from my experience. It's a massive problem, not convinced it's Nitrado though.

Probably a bug to be fair. Wouldn't surprise me if they intended to add just the original but ended up with two wrong ones. It is DayZ.
-
You're not, it has impacted me too, but the game is still playable. DayZ isn't a fast paced twitch shooter to many, like me, so it doesn't impact me very often, and I can work around it. That's probably why you're seeing fewer complaints about the issue than you would like.

PS5: - Sensitivity sliders don't seem to work - Character models STILL stretching and deforming - When running out of stamina when sprinting while 'zoomed in' it quickly unzooms and zooms back in. Very annoying if you have low stam. - Inventory controls are an absolute disaster, I don't know what you have done but 'CIRCLE' to 'combine' items always closes the inventory while combining. I can't even be bothered trying explain the other inventory inconsistencies in behaviour, not really sure how to, to be honest, just isn't right while tabbing through items in proximity/hands. - 'HOLD SQUARE' to drop items from dead zombies to ground doesn't seem to work either. I'm sure this is an old bug. - Frame rate issues after playing over time prompting a restart of the game on the PS5 to clear. This one was introduced in 1.16 I think. - STILL experiencing loss of sound, shortly following by a game crash. Why can I still not place a tent/fence anywhere that isn't absolutely, perfectly flat!? Do you want me to use tents/basebuild? Just change that back to 1.09 era behavior please! 3000 hours and I haven't played since 1.16 release. Guess I'll wait until 1.18 then, see if you can fix it then. I love this game, but I've made it. I'm at the end of the DayZ tether. For the first time after years of following this community I'm going to say it... Fix your game before adding new stuff. Oh dear, I've turned into that guy. Sorry.

We do have gas in the game now afterall. Locking yourself in a building is such a crutch, especially in third-person servers, that gas grenades would really get things moving again. Frags are alright, but sometimes the lockpick connoisseur needs a little more persuasion.
-
900RPM is rediculous. 60rnd magazines and so little recoil makes it feel like I'm cheating. Proper easy mode. Bring on the nerf.
-
Increase the durability of them in the meantime. Especially radiators/wheels. Allow Sarka/Olga/Gunter wheels to be interchangeable at least. That would be nice.

Guns experts, everywhere. (yawn) I wan't realistic bowel movements. No wonder we keep getting assault rifles.

If the aim of the game is authenticity over balance then I would like my character to have to brush his teeth every day and to use the toilet every 8 hours too.
