Remove BattleEye and Steam requirements for pure LAN servers
TheVaultboy posted a topic in Suggestions
We have our own very powerful server, it uses opensm on fibre nics and there is no router or gatway so it can NEVER connect to the internet, any patching for updates is done manually. We were planning on hosting our own PURE LAN game for 8 people 4 vs 4, followed by last man standing setup under the conditions that we wanted. I have been working towards this goal and have put many hours into it ; however due to this BattleEye thing which I have no problems with if you are playing on a PIC game ( Public & Internet Connected ) as we HATE cheaters with a passion and we are running a solely LAN no router no gatway setup that can never connect to the internet for exactly that reason. It should be that if I whitelist all the Bohemia ID's that this will allow my fellow players to connect and bypass battleEye as battleEye has no chance of ever getting an internet connection, but this is not the case BattleEye instead jumps in front of everything and causes problems, me as the server admin gets told my password is incorrect when I know damn well it's not.. I have even gone to the extent of copying and pasting my admin password into the client still to be told it's wrong. User passwords result in connect timeouts as again battleye jumps in the way on a purely LAN game. You have 9 quite disgruntled people here and we want this fixed, we have all put in very little time online trying to get this stuff to work and are at the point of talking about going back to steam and getting a refund on the game and the DLC, also the level of documentation for trying to get a LAN only non internet connected game going is attrocious. We know you are a small studio and thats fine but how about giving a group of users what we want for a change. I have heard every argument from people about hosting your own private internet connected server blah blah blah but the point is we have paid for this game and we should be able to play the game on our own server without the internet involved and our systems are built for light speed - not copper, ping times for our server are les than 1ms not the <50ms people see on copper PIC games. Please remove BattleEye for LAN non PIC games. -
Unfortunately this makes no difference, I have tracked some things down with trying to get the game to run locally and the problem is with Battleye it seems. The server and clients in our environment have Zero connection to the internet, there is no router as our machines all hook into one PC which runs opensm ( open session manager ) as everything is connected via fibre and it does not use a default gateway, it is a pure lan. Battleye wants to connect to the internet to check to see if players are banned and while I am fine with that if you are playing a game which is actually connected to the internet we are not and it should be the case that any players in the whitelist automatically bypass BE checks on login as they have been whitelisted by the admin for a LAN only game - but guess what it does not work, they are trying to FORCE you to be connected to the internet.

My friends and myself all have extreme range high end hardware, my server is a dual 2690 with a ton of ram and a huge hardware raid 6 system and multiple 56G Nics. We are wanting to effectively setup my main server machine to be a server for DayZ on my LAN for an 8 player 4 vs 4 private session, as such we don't want to be having to connect to Steam or doing any of that mucking about so my question is how do I configure the game to run offline LAN only with no internet involvement of any sort as this for our systems is actually a bottleneck, it also does not help when steam keeps trouncing on config files. I have setup the server config and am trying to run with the 1G internet connection disabled connecting by the localhost IP address under LAN connection to the server but it keeps stating that my admin password is incorrect and I know that it is not, the message is "Can not join the session. Wrong password was given." I know the server is seen because it shows the following under LAN. My Private Server Shard: Private Mode 1st/3rd Person BattlEye Enabled IP: 127.0.0.1:2302 Steam Friends: Map: Chernarus | Mods: Livonia DLC When I try and log in with a user password I get the following message: "The server does not accept the client's current filePatching setting." We were hoping to get started in DayZ this weekend and basically every weekend for eight weeks get 8 hours in on Saturday and Sunday but it does not look like it's going to happen if I can't get this sorted, we like to break every three hours and want things to persist but don't want to have everything just sitting their paused. Can someone please advise me as to what is happening and how to fix it. Thanks in advance.
