dude... I'll admit I'm a noob and might not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but no way am I naive enough to trust someone named "Mr Trust" I mean, that's just asking for trouble!!

I've recorded my first experiences in Day Z here, in my series of videos titled "A Noob in Day Z" There's over 2 hours of footage so far of me learning the ropes of Day Z here - and more footage is on the way. I did a lot of reading/research on the game beforehand so I did have a good idea of what to expect, although the inventory system took me a bit to get the hang of. It can get a bit boring at times, as I don't really edit these videos for the boring parts. Future recording I plan to just get interesting bits. If you're just looking for a quick laugh, "Third Life Part 4" is where I fear of starvation and paranoia lead me to becoming an axe wielding murderer.

Run if you aggro a zombie - don't let it hit you. Sprint away and try to ditch it by losing line of sight through buildings, up ladders, etc. You can also try using steep hills, I've lost zombies by running up and down hills, trying to make the zombie have the "running uphill goes slower" animation while I maintain a full running animation by going at an angle to the mountain (as close an angle as possible, hoping to make the zombie be walking "uphill" technically while I'm still running at full speed. (Hope that makes sense!)

This happened to me too, but I was a new player so I didn't have problems just killing myself so I would respawn in a normal location. So if you're like me and don't have anything to lose and/or don't want to mess with trying to go on other servers etc, then just hit esc then click "respawn". Once you're dead, do an "abort" and then "disconnect" to get back to the server's team select screen. Then Join the game again from there and you shuold have a new character ready to go. Hope that helps!

Also just wanted to point out, that it's not quite a "reading comprehension" problem that these folks replying to you have. Its just that they're approaching the problem/discussion from a different angle. What is happening is you've opened with the title of your thread as "The real reason why spawning without a weapon is tedious" and then you talk about bleeding. Well, folks are mostly in support of spawning without weapons, and are moreso addressing that aspect of your post. If they think spawning without a weapon is the correct choice and that it isn't boring or tedious in the first place, then the alleged problem of bleeding making spawning without a weapon tedious is a moot point. If you want to specifically discuss bleeding without adding the extra talk of other things, it'd be wise not to frame that discussion within the context of its effect on other game mechanics such as spawning without a gun. Otherwise folks will take that frame into account when responding. Hope that helps

I got that, about the bleeding. The thing is, if you sneak properly and/or run away properly, you shouldn't bleed in the first place - I don't start bleeding in zombie encounters unless they've been whacking on me for more than 2 hits or so. If they've gotten you that badly, then that's unfortunate man but you shouldn't let your guard down so much! Was even wading through Cherno with an axe killing zombie after zombie at one point, and I did lose blood, but didn't often start bleeding as I had them dead before they could hit me more than one or twice. And for times when I did bleed, bandages fixed me up. The point of my reply was really just if you're unlucky enough to be bleeding out from zombie attacks when just starting out like that, and aren't able to shake them or esacpe, then yeah, that sucks but better luck next life! No biggie, just don't aggro them next time!

Don't just run away in a striaght line! Dodge around buildings, climb ladders, etc. If you lose line of sight with the zombie, theres a good chance he'll stop chasing. Just be careful not to aggro move while you do this!

the thing is, if you have no weapons yet, and you die, then uh... no big deal man! It's not like you lost anything big! Hopefully your next life you'll spawn somewhere with better loot :) Just remember to crawl when infiltrating zombie infested areas and you'll do fine :)

I fully support updates to stop hackers/dupers/server hoppers/disconnectors, but I think things like crosshairs, 3rd person, etc should be up to the server owner.

(see link in my signature) I'll go ahead and copy paste it here so I can be part of this awesome thread: I thought I was a nice person. Turns out I'm an axe murderer? I understand myself more now - turns out the only thing needed to push me over the edge of becoming an axe wielding maniac is the fear of imminent starvation. Here's the story: So, I'm a couple hours into this character. I've been pretty lucky, I've got good medical supplies, some sodas, an upgraded bag, some army camo, and an axe. One thing I don't have? Food. I've looted almost the entire factory sector of cherno by this point, and have yet to find a single can of beans. I'm starting to get hungry. I get so desperate for food that I'm at the point where I decide to just take advantage of my axe's unlimited ammo, and literally RUN throughout cherno looking for beans, hacking through any zombies in my way. Stupid, I know, but it was really late IRL and I was getting desperate for beans or a hunting knife. After 20 minutes of this, no luck. Then I round a corner and see another player, unarmed. I didn't even hesitate. I just ran straight to him and hacked him to death without even thinking about it. It wasn't until after I did it that I realized really what I'd done. That was a totally cold blooded murder. He didn't have any weapons, or any food, so it was all for nothing. A minute or so later, I enter an apartment building. I hear footsteps, but I'm not sure where they're coming from, and don't hear a response to my direct comms. Then I turn around to go back up the stairs and right behind me was another survivor. He scared the crap out of me, and I just started hacking him with my axe while apoligizing and letting him know how scary he was over direct chat. Another murder. What have I become? Moments later another surivor heads down the stairwell, this one armed with a pistol. "Oh god. He's going to see that I killed this guy who is probably his friend. He'll want revenge... I have to kill him first." So, again, with no hesitation, I start hacking at him, apologizing copiously over direct chat all the while. After my first murder, I had committed two more murders within the next 5 minutes. I felt like a horrible person. Is this what it's like to become a bandit? Am I a bandit now? Is this what I'd act like in a real apocalypse situation? The thing is, that third guy I killed? The one with the pistol? He had beans. Was the price worth it? I don't know. But I survived. I've been down with spawning with no gear once I realized I could lose zombies by ditching them around corners, though buildings, up ladders, etc. It's not a death sentence if one chases you, just gotta juke 'em!

I don't know. I wouldn't want folks duping on my server. Not sure if I'd report it, but I'd definitely play on a different server myself, as I don't plan on duping items and wouldn't want other folks to be doing it either, and a server that embraces it so brazenly just wouldn't be compatible with me. But no biggie, I'd just play somewhere else.

Hah, thanks for the support guys. Looks like Karma came to roost though - I died on my next night of play after heading out to the wilderness and encountering another player. At least the beach looks pretty...

I never thought I'd be a cold blooded murderer in this game, but it turns out I am? There's nothing logical about my reasons for it. The reasons were base emotions like fear and paranoia coupled with a lack of hesitation. I don't think about it, I just act. Stay away from me and I won't bother you, but if you pop up in front of me, or sneak up behind me, apparently my instant gut reaction is flip out and swing my hatchet at your face. Sorry man, I'm just on a hair trigger. I'm often apologizing while I do it. Another reason is hunger. If I'm about to starve to death and don't have a hunting knife or anything like that, and I come around a corner and see a person in that state.... well I don't hesitate. I'm a horrible person and I do feel bad.... but I also survive.
