So after 5 years, my 1080ti blacked out on me yesterday and is not recognized in UEFI anymore. To replace it, I am currently eyeing various easter offers. A nice looking one is a Sapphire 7900GRE. Seem to have nice bang for the buck and also it got buffed considerably by recent AMD drivers. Then I remembered that in the recent past there were serious FPS and texture issues with AMD GPUs in DayZ . Being on team green for the last 5 years, I never had to deal with this, so I´m unsure If I should switch vendors. DayZ is my main game nowadays. Can anybody confirm if this is still going on or did AMD fix the issues with 7XXX GPUs? Is there a workaround maybe? Thank you for some feedback!

0x00040031 consistently on two newly purchase Steam installations
DrzZzZt replied to E-Slayer's topic in Troubleshooting
- If you didn´t play it yet, i´d recommend to be patient and check the game first. It´s ten years old and still in active development, gets better every update. In 2023 we had four of those. Dont miss out cause of that hiccup - we´ve seen whorse times in DayZ. Way. -
0x00040031 consistently on two newly purchase Steam installations

Sadly, this is a fairly old problem, happens at least since 2022 but keeps reappearing from time to time. Today I had no luck with the common workarounds, shutting down overlays, running launcher(s) or Steam as admin etc. I played normally yesterday, today got a Steam Cloud state difference warning and steam asked to choose between the last known good cloud save and a more recent one on the local machine. I chose the cloud state from yesterday, after that the 0x00040031 appeared.Seems to affect a lot of people, all official servers are mostly empty. I hope they look into this. -
Same here. Game worked yesterday without problems. Today, first Steam complained about different save-states in Steam Cloud and gave me a choice which one to reinstate. Took the last known working in Steam cloud from yesterday, not the local one. After that, got the [00040031] error. Until now I have not been able to fix it. Btw: I run no overlays, nothing else. I tried the official and DAYZSA Launchers, both normal and as admin. No luck. All workarounds suggested online failed.

To clarify: I was referring to shouldered weapons touching your gear, (i.e. like mags in vest) while you move. There´s already a sound in the game when you shoulder a weapon and move. I meant that this sound should be as well considered for your noise level, not only boots/surfaces. Anybody knows how it is in 1.15? And what about other sounds like sneezing while sick? Do the infected react to that as well?

Yesterday I arrived at a roadbblock/bunker with six infected at daytime in Livonia in assault boots. I wanted to go for stealthkills and one of them noticed me like 15m away crouchwalking on grass while i was behind him and started to scream. Soon enough I was chased by five and had to run for the next barricade and jump on it to get safe. While I think they are probably a little too aware in this patch, I definitely like the challenge and the direction this is going. Infected need to be hard but I think the grass should a) not lead to detection while crouching out of their line of sight or b) you should be able to be a little closer on soft surfaces. This case was just a little too harsh/unplausible. I agree that on hard surfaces it should be hard to sneak by, maybe even depending on how much gear you carry. Also weapons make sounds too when shouldered, so that should be in the mix as well, not only the boots/ ground surface.

I like the Afghanistan/Desert/Mountain-theme and played the map for 8 hours coward-PvP-like over the weekend. Looted around until I got a blaze with a scope, then hide out in the high ground rocks or buildings and cowardly shot players from long distances. Run down to loot and hide again camping for more. Got some Karma by breaking a leg from a fall down the rocks and died in a sandstorm in the process while crawling for sticks. So kinda PvE at the end. Aside from being a snipers paradise, its also its harder to hide a base with these long viewranges. To carry logs around the map is a little suicidal. Sure, you could set up a car or take the shovel and dig in some crates if you find one. On modded servers like the one from KarmaKrew, the basebuilding supplies are kinda hard to find. The basebuilding needs some more love in the future. The small amount of foliage on Takistan makes you very visible and I agree it can get boring. On Takistan you can regulary shoot at the 300m+ range and fire 10 Shots from a sniper where in other maps you may have a way smaller number of sniped shots at players before they vanish into the forest. There are some high ground rock formations, even with military loot and cave-like structures where you can go. But once thats common knowledge they become hotspots too. The temperature-spread could be a little more, hotter at daytime and colder at nighttime to be challenging. Some mods were fun like the can of "unknown food" - found this first and ate it, but got sick.... Food is not really scarce but once it is, this is a nice trade-off. So nice work in general, finally you can feel lost again in a map. But like everything in the game this could use continous polishing in the future.

DrzZzZt replied to DrzZzZt's topic in General Discussion
They had me at "sev", I guess! :D Thanx for pointing that one out. I may or may not have been intoxicated writing that post. Oh well, wishful thinking it was for sure. Anyway, something new yet? Ah, server Maintenance....well *bumps head against wall* -
You said "early next year" and "is being finalized", which was... in December.....so it´s kinda early in the year, tomorrow it will already be a little less early! 🙂 The BI Newsletter talked about 7 planned Updates if I remember correctly - Sounds ambitious but those can be smaller Updates than the ones from last year. Pretty please? Communication? Something? It´s my birthday and I want my cake!
