For myself, first I would like to be able to save a monthly fee for the Windows license. Also all flavors of Linux, you do not need to run a Graphical User Interface (GUI). This saves a ton of resources and will allow individuals hosting servers to be able to run more servers if they so choose. I currently run a vanilla experimental server on a docker on my main server. A docker is a crash only container (if it crashes you won't have your entire system lock up), and dockers can share system resources as well. Unlike what many of us have to do is set a specific amount of resources to run a Virtual Machine to run Windows. It is also a preference for a lot of server owners, but it all comes down to what is possible for BI to do and what resources they want to put where. We all want something 🙂

Any word on the Linux Servers yet?

Thank you for that post finntux. Now if I can just figure out how to write up a list of mods for some of the servers. There are a few special characters in the names of the mods and it doesn't like it very much. But killer start, thanks a ton!!! I am pretty much just putting the command line together for the servers and name the file after the server name. Type that in and bingo I'm connecting. I'm so close, haha. I did fumble through changing some of my directories but got that part all figured out and it's working great for the most part

I think it would be amazing to get DayZ into a docker. I have been running an experimental server just locally and it has been so much better then the windows version. I am still waiting for them to release it on stable so I can get rid of my windows server

I finally was able to launch DayZ on Debian 11 using Proton experimental. However you cannot load into the launcher. I hope this gets fixed, as if it does, good by Windows. I run 5 servers and once I can get into them, I will be as happy as a clam. Also I will report, I run a 6900xt passed through to a vm, and I have everything maxed out, I am getting higher frame rates then I do in windows!!!! If they every made a full blown Linux client, I have to wonder if we would get even better performance. But right now, I will not complain because I actually got onto an Official server with my Debian wallpaper. Step 1 down! Please keep it going, and thank Proton for all of their hard work to get a ton of games working in Linux.

Will we get all of the settings in the cfggameplay? As far as the stamina drain while swimming and while sliding down ladders? Thanks for giving us the option for the stamina settings and the hit indicators. It is much appreciated

So the server side is in experimental, which is completely amazing. Is there any talk about porting the client side natively into Linux?

Well first thing that I noticed on the server side was that my FPS went from about 150 to just about 1500 on my Debian VM. I logged in and FPS went up and not down. I am soooo excited about this. Please keep the Linux development up, that was a huge jump and I look forward to running the server on a Linux Distro instead of Windows!!! I had 3 of us play on a Debian 11 box with the 1.14 build and didn't have any issues, we will get ready to run on 1.15 next and see how things are coming along. Is there a Linux thread that we can report anything we find or just submit a bug report directly? Does any of the Linux people want to start a Linux Server thread?

I would say just for the game in general. I'm sure there are a lot of people that have wheels for the PCs and consoles. I think it would fill part of the gap for a more simulation feel.

I would love to be able to use a steering wheel and pedals in game.

This is pretty old. I was wondering the same thing. I have a steering wheel but can not use it, it would be great for the option to.
