When I reload, the magazine if never full? I definetly have extra magazines
colosseum replied to Louie21's topic in New Player Discussion
Again, you morons, this is a "feature" of ArmA2, not DayZ. Changing the way magazines are reloaded/switched around isn't something that lies within the scope of the DayZ project. -
Helicopters were what originally drew me to the ArmA series. I came from flying the arcadey helicopters in Battlefield 2, and although ArmA's helicopter sim is a bit arcadey itself, it's definitely a hell of a lot more realistic than any other combined arms game I've ever played. Give it some time, master it, and you will truly enjoy the ArmA series. I just load up the editor and fly a helo around just for the hell of it sometimes. Hopefully ArmA3 will incorporate the Take On Helicopters flight model!

It's the exact same thing as the rest of the game, why would it be any different? Rocket sure as hell didn't dumb it down or something!

I've bought ArmA2:CO twice (both times for $30) and ArmA1 four times (for $19.95 a piece) so that friends could play. After a week they bought the extra copies from me. I was a CoD player until I discovered ArmA in 2010. I have not gone back. It's the game I always dreamed about. No bullshit.

Perhaps an "IV Kit" item (similar to map, compass, etc) that makes personal blood transfusions possible?

Just train yourselves to use up the mag before you reload it! Holy shit, like real life! Show me the soldier who is hurriedly transferring rounds between magazines during a firefight! -
[MOD] Chernarus Apocalypse singleplayer/co-op - Celery

Definitely! I noticed myself saying that to a friend and it honestly surprised me! "Yeah man, we played ArmA before it was cool..." -

That's very cool and quite respectable but there is such a thing as the correct terminology. -

ArmA2 is set up like real life. If you shoot 5 rounds out of one mag, the game tracks it. I won't even bother telling you why you wouldn't waste time transferring rounds between magazines. Maybe if you were camped out somewhere and had nothing else to do, but DayZ/ArmA2 doesn't really portray that situation (nor does any game). BTW, they're not "bullets", they're "cartridges" or "rounds". The bullet is the actual copper/lead bit that goes down the barrel and hurts people. The thing in your magazine or loaded onto your stripper clips are your cartridges, not your bullets. -
Just goes to show: avoid other players! Trust only your friends!

Fridge Logic; There is no Bandit - Thoughts on the 'Anti-Game'
colosseum replied to Swi1ch's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yep. Giant effortposts on the forum aren't really going to change anything... considering that we've all been posting like this for literally months now and have always arrived at the same conclusion... that PvP is just a fact of life in this game. I've stopped worrying about it! -
Get some friends together???

The TeamSpeak conversation goes like this: "Hey man." "Hey. What server are you on?" "US5." "See you there." ;)

Fridge Logic; There is no Bandit - Thoughts on the 'Anti-Game'
colosseum replied to Swi1ch's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Brilliance. I imagine it would get rid of the random griefing snipers and other nonsense and replace it with actual bandit raiding in teams and whatnot. In other words, how it would really be in real life if this situation were to occur. People don't turn into psychopaths who wait under a tree and snipe people. They get into groups, teams, gangs or what have you and fuck shit up with a purpose, not just because they feel like trolling others. -
You're using weapons that were made for ArmA2. They're zeroed for 300m by default. When Operation Arrowhead came out, BI added some more features to weapons, such as the ability to zero some of them. The AR-15 platform came in with A2, not OA. Therefore you will not be able to zero them in-game, as far as I know.

Guys, hasn't it been made perfectly clear by now that no restrictions on bandits are going to be implemented? I agree that the system is somewhat unrealistic, but after countless threads can't we just forget about it? Rocket has mentioned that humanity will make a come back later on. Wait until that gets implemented before you start complaining.

How to Zero your sniper and other goodies!
colosseum replied to 8bitplaya's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
This is one of the areas where ArmA2 truly excels. People say that "Battlefield 3 replicates real ballistics", sorry but it doesn't. While ArmA2's system isn't perfectly accurate, it's a hell of a lot better than anything else out there. The only improvement that I can think of is ACE, which adds windage adjustments. Just the fact that ArmA more or less replicates realistic engagement ranges is enough to draw me in as a long time high power rifle shooter. It's nice to play a game that doesn't reward a shot over 10 yards as a "LONG SHOT KILL BONUS". Anyway, spend some time fooling around in the editor and you'll get the hang of shooting in ArmA2. -
Ammunition - How deep do we need to go?
colosseum replied to Luieburger's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
These would be modifications to ArmA2 itself, not DayZ. At least ArmA2's current system is fairly realistic, within reason. After a while this shit would just get too complicated to worry about. You've got to remember that most ArmA games don't have the incredible limits on ammunition that you find in DayZ... most Warfare games you'll find crates that have 300 STANAGs in them. Most of these suggestions were brought up when ArmA2 was originally released. -
[MOD] Chernarus Apocalypse singleplayer/co-op - Celery
colosseum replied to griffinz's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Celery is the original king of zombies in ArmA2. This was back before ArmA2/zombies were cool. ;) -
Good stuff! And I like rocket's casual attitude! Makes him sound like he doesn't work for EA!
-
It's DayZ... the idea is to be afraid of the other players... If you want old ArmA2 style gameplay, play the traditional stuff!
-
I love Lingor and would love to see this implemented. The 1.337 version of the map is really superb. It would just be nice to have a change of scenery!
