Anyone willing to help me out?

"Over 500 views and nobody could gift me D: Man this is really getting me anxious I check the thread every 30 seconds" Pretty sure that constitutes as begging. Asking is when you ask a question, begging is (from the dictionary), "to ask for as a gift, as charity, or as a favor". Especially when you repeatedly ask for something. Why not try to offer a service, good, or trade in return for the game? Do you have a game you can gift someone? Can you do any sort of art you could trade for it? Can you offer to play with whoever buys the game for you? If for some reason you can't get the money in real life to buy the game, perhaps you can work out a deal with whoever can buy it for you?

    Where do you play DayZ?

You can play DayZ by buying Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead, and then using the free "demo" version of Arma 2.

Looking for someone to play with

Kingdom of Wessex is always recruiting. We play DayZ almost everyday, and we often get 7+ people playing at a time (had 12-14 playing this Saturday). We play a lot of other games, too. Specifically, we mostly play sandbox MMO's (Mortal Online, Darkfall Online, Wurm Online, Xsyon, etc...). We're a friendly, mature gaming community. There is no age limit to join us, but you'll need to be mature. That's not to say we're a super serious group, but we don't tolerate racism, sexism, etc... Anyone is welcome to apply. Check us out Our Website.

    I found a Radio

Man, those number station recordings freak the shit out of me. It's just so eerie... If I came across one of those on accident in real life, I'd be freaked out. The static alone freaks me out, dunno why.

    Daytime servers are always overloaded.

I hate to inform you guys, but this is a hyper-realistic zombie modification for a hyper-realistic military simulator. Get over it, please. The nights aren't that bad unless it's one of those rare occasions when the moon isn't out (which there is currently a bug where this happens more frequently than it should, I think). Use flares or chem lights if the moon isn't enough for you. This is not World of Warcraft, you don't need the game to hold your hand. This is supposed to simulate a zombie apocalypse, and unfortunately that ALSO includes night being dangerous and hard to traverse. I really see no need to change it, as some people prefer the 24-hour cycle (such as myself, and anyone else that enjoys the mod as Rocket envisions it). Specifically, the 'problem' that the OP gives is also the solution. Play on another server in a different region. Can't find one? Initiate the process of setting up another one. Just because you life in the US does not mean you cannot rent an EU server.

    Playing DayZ in singleplayer mode.

Don't believe so. I know there are a few co-op/solo zombie apocalypse scenerios on Armaholic, though.

    The Importance of CHKilroy

I heard about the game because of a random guy in the Galactic chat of a game called Shores of Hazeron (Empire building MMORPG/FPS/Sandbox... no it is not a browser game). Anyways, I googled it and came across Killroy's videos. I watched the first one and immediately dug out my copy of Arma II:CO that I had bought on sale somewhere (don't remember where). I had never installed nor played the game, as I never had the will nor interest to do it. So I got it out, installed it, and while I was downloading patches and watching tutorials on how to install DayZ, I showed the videos to a guild mate, who had the same reaction as me. He bought Arma II: OA (He already had the original Arma II) right after finishing the first video and started installing. Then someone joined our channel after we had been playing for about 10 minutes, trying to find each other on the huge map we'd never been on before, and got interested. So we showed him the videos. He then bought the game after the first one (He spent the full $30 for CO). Then while he was downloading the game from steam, another guy came in and listened to us play. He watched the videos and then bought the game. After that first play session, which lasted near 12 hours (it was the weekend and I stayed up all night :P), I made a post on my guilds forums. Currently, we have 10+ guys, a majority of which bought the game after watching Killroy's videos and just wanted to play DayZ, who play DayZ. Every thread on DayZ in every forum I visit has Killroy's videos. Even a lot of articles feature his videos. I am pretty sure that at least 95% (I would say 100%, but I am giving 5% just in case) who has bought the game from the last part of April and all of May so far (which is a shit load of people) have watched his videos. His videos may not have INFORMED you of the game. It may not have been the only thing to convinced you to buy Arma II for the mod. But his videos probably made your friends and such have a lot easier time convincing you what a badass mod this is. He shouldn't be given complete credit for the boom that is DayZ. No way in hell. But he does deserve credit for being one of the few youtubers who showed a majority of us how awesome this mod can be.

    A question about infected speeds

The only thing I don't like about the sprinter zombies is how they zig-zag. They don't have the instincts or intelligence to know that zig-zagging is a good thing (it seems logical to me, anyways). They should just run in the quickest, most straight route to the person. If there's a wall, they should run around it, or an obsticle, but they shouldn't be running in a zig-zag. It just does not make sense to me, and because of desync or other issues, more than half the time the zombies just end up teleporting. Or "warping" (running at even faster speeds than they should, or at least they appear to). But, it adds a lot of challenge to the game, and it's the world that we're stuck with. The fun of this game is dealing with what you're stuck with and surviving it. It could be that in this mods lore, zombies are stripped of everything but their will to kill and consume any human who is not infected. But still retain the ability to use primitive 'tactics' and slight coordination.

    The PvP Discussion Thread

Please read what is typed in the [ ]'s. Some other thoughts/comments. As shitty as it is, you can log off and instantly disappear if it comes to that. Honestly, I would rather someone do that, than have them bitch at me for an hour because I shot them while they were in the wide open on top of the hospital. Look for possible sniper positions. It boggles my mind when I am on top of the Elektro Power Plant smokestack and people ask, "where u snipe me from????" after I kill them when they are climbing up the Fire Station's ladder. There are other games (check the Off-topic section of these forums) that are zombie-sandbox type games that officer no-or-restricted PvP, the likes of which you seem to want.

Beta Patch 92612 fix direct chat !!

Ok, can someone post a mini-guide on how to install and use this beta patch using the Arma II Launcher v1.4? Do I need to do anything differently than usual? I ran the .exe and installed it, just want to know if I need to change any settings in the launcher to actually make use of it. I clicked the "Run Beta" in the launch options, but got an error when trying to launch the game. Tho I did have it set to launch as CO, so that may be why. Ok, downloading and running the .exe. I opened up the Arma II Launcher, went to launch options and set the location of the beta client in the correct place (.../expansions/beta). Then I checked the "Run Beta" box. Then in the drop down, I chose "Arma II: OA". Now everything seems to be working correctly.

ArmA 2: CO in "Top Seller" list

I wonder if it'll push past Skyrim? Maye even reach the #1 slot. This is the most successful mod I've played/seen. I wonder if BIS could give us some exact numbers as to how much sells for CO have jumped since the mod has released, or even just this month.
