i persoanlly would love to see third person removed entirely
Jandor replied to A.Jones's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
In real life I can see my body. In real life I don't even need to see my body to know where it is. In real life I have full control over my bodies elevation and position. In real life I have a sense of touch. When ArmaII/DayZ can recreate those things in game I will fully support removing 3rd person. -
Having hundreds of zombies destroy unarmed new players who spawn with nothing will just drive people away. The coast should spawn the weak blind zombies from pre 1.7, the coastal cities are fine as they are with current spawn rates and zombies. The northern cities/large towns could do with slightly more of the current zombies and the NW airfield/other rare loot locations can spawn those bugged super zombies from a few updates ago. You want fancy guns? Team up & raid somewhere really difficult. Also, mix things up and have a horde just leave a town & start screaming through the forest occasionally, hiding in the woods means you can survive indefinately really. Side note: Zombies that are cleared out should not just keep respawning. That bugs the hell out of me, when I clear an area out and turn around to see every zombie I just killed has been replaced. Breaks the immersion somewhat.

I get the feeling the OP was a joke...

1st person view is no more "realistic" than 3rd if you actually think about it, they both are pretty unrealistic for many reasons. I think people should be able to choose between 3rd/1st person servers if they want. Exactly, I am aware of my body in real life, I can feel things in real life and I can hear things behind me/around corners in real life (I don't have a fancy surround sound setup on my PC.) Third person is just as realistic as 1st really.

I liked the 'items you have at the time of death are tagged so you can't pick them up (tag dissapears after 12 hours or so.) idea', people can loot your body, but you can't run back to it and re-equip yourself. Teams could get round it if they all have similar equipment or loads of items stashed in a camp somewhere, but teams will find a way around almost everything really.

Senrain is right, bows and arrows are hard to shoot and take a lot of practice to use effectively. It would break a lot of the immersion for me to see people running around with them.
