Loot Tier Zones are nice for providing gameplay incentives, you have to work... uh... play ofcourse to get better gear by traveling the map. BUT THEY ARE BORING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! This is because you know exactly what you are going to get. I am never surprised by loot in this game. Except for that time I found an AKSU damaged with a mag and 3 bullets in a container in Elektro, that was fun. Any other time I looted Elektro was boring, because i knew exactly I could find an IZH. Thats it. I also knew that I would find a Deagle because they grow on the trees at the coast. The time I looted Elektro and got that almost useless AK was fun because it was unexpected and i found something really cool. I suggest that EVERY single spawnpoint in every building in every loot tier in every loot zone has a 5% chance that when it spawns something, it can be ANY item from ANY loot zone and tier. Anyone would be really excited to find an SVD in Balota airfield, but it would be unbalanced, people wouldnt have to loot tisy and helicrashes anymore, everyone would have an svd and be bored by anything else they find right? NO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! because this would only happen once in your whole playtime, because the chance to spawn an svd at an svd spawnpoint is already small, and you have the chance of 5% added ontop of that. What I think when i spawn in Berezino: Ok so where do i loot... hmm Police? No, there is never anything in there, all I could even miss out on is a damaged glock. Ok I will specifically loot only the Hospital for a bandage and an epipen, but i will not enjoy it or be surprised! Ok I got my bandage, now i will loot a handful of those shops with the shutters closed for a guaranteed deagle, ah there it is just as expected. Hm... Ok I will loot 2 more where I will find a glass of jam and some chocapixue so that I am fed. Goodbye Berezino, I have seen all you could ever have to offer! I will now move to the summer camp north where I can tell you in advance that I will find a winter huntig pants and a green hunting jacket and a great helm! What I would think if I spawned there WITH the beast Idea ever, low chance loot randomization added: Wow! I love Berezino! I am gonna loot for fun, take in the atmosphere! I wonder what happens today! Ok let me go to the Police station! Oh nothing as usual, oh well! Hospital then, i need a bandage! Nice I found it just as expected, oh, a sparkplug in the hospital! How handy! Let me loot all the random houses! It is not boring because anything could happen! Oh my god, are those night vision goggles without any helmet or headstrap?! Awesome! What a big surprise to find this here! My DayZ experience has just been enhanced greatly! I suddenlly feel the incentive to look for a headstrap at a millitary base, even if it is one with a lower loot tier! And ontop of that I know I will have some fun spying around with the goggles at night, even though I am still greatly impaired by my non-nightvision-to-face-attachedness! And WOW! A megaphone! Now I can have fun and start screaming at people before i leave the coast, even if its just once in a while that i have this luxury! I will now continue to only loot the places I like visiting! Yes I won't be as efficient as people who always seek out the exact best loot locations for the things they need, but I won't miss out completely anyway! How happy I am that Homeschooliazon suggested Soft Loot-Tier-Zones to the DayZ forums and to the developers who implemented it, Sumrak is such a cool guy!

In .62 any item you held in your hands had collision. It would block (if it was hard enough) bullets and melee attack that hit it. You could even grab a barrel and use it as an improvised riot shield. If this gets back into DayZ, maybe they'll even have your gun degrade from being shot/stabbed while you are holding it? You could disarm people by ruining their weapon, opening up more non-violent options for player interaction.

Most Videogame movies have nothing to do with the actualy game and are terrible cash grabs. I expect them to make 28 days later but in Czech Republic pretty much. This does not do DAyZ justice. What I want to see is an absolute insane movie where you are constantly thinking what the hell is this movie. If it wants to be "DayZ: The Movie" it NEEDS: Genocide squads without any remorse who laugh at suffering, glitches, Inhuman gesticulations and roles who speak terrible english, many people not valueing their lives: for example unarmed people charging a heavily armed gang with sticks, people dying from all kinds of ridiculous stuff like drinking disinfectant, gasoline, eating raw human meat for no reason, people accidentally poisoning themselves, people crashing cars all the time, people trying to do really silly things like opening a new church or a shop, telepathy, cringy "roleplayer" actors who are the only sane acting but extremely akwardly behaving people, Noob roles who can't complete the most simple of tasks, everyone being way too relaxed about the apocalypse, people who constantly sprint, and the list goes on and on! 😜

You don't need to worry about that. It is impossible to defeat someone wearing a gorka helmet and a plate with your fists only (unless the person is a potato). 😜 I am a geared-guy-beatdown-lover, I attacked countless geared guys with my fists and melee weapons and I can tell you that it is unfair gameplay and realism wise. Three power attacks with my fists and three regular attacks afterwards chained in quick succession and the guy is not knocked out, if he wears a helmet and a plate. I have seen instances of even more punches not knocking them down. What ALWAYS happens: The geared guy makes the mistakes of letting you get close enoguh to beat him, and he is too slow or unwary to counter your inital punch and even the three most easily avoided normal punches after the three power attacks, straight in his head/throat/groin/onto his weapon. What is he punished with in this non forgiving game, all about being able to loose it all in the blink of an eye? Nothing. His stamina bar is even full still. What are you punished with? Your stamina is now empty, you are now unable to fight back in any way shape or form, the geared guy INSTANTLY sprints five steps away and shoots you since you cant run or jump. So what if you corner a really inexperienced player who doesnt even know how to bash with a gun? After they make the mistake of letting someone corner and also punch them? You will get your power attacks off, then they will put their gun INSIDE you or in the space that your character creates while punching and you will get shot, then afterwards if you did do enough damage they will get knocked out but you are already dead. Even with MANY melee weapons all you can do is get your inital power attacks off and hope that after those your geared noob enemy is afk, otherwise they will step back and shoot you, shoot you while you are literally touching them because the gun-raise mechanic doesnt work and also the melee animations always make space inbetween your enemy and you, or they bash you and shoot you. I hugely prefel the way it was in earlier versions where two punches in the head would knock you out unless you had a helmet, then you would have to beat someone many many times but it was at least POSSIBLE. 😀

Cool roadmap! I woudln't be mad if the new Enfusion technology makes the cars fly even higher xD The vehicle physics in ArmA 3 and DayZ has given me some extreme laughter the past years 🙂

My favorite way to play is official 1pp hardcore. BUT it is unenjoyable because of bad server performance. There are 3 non livonia EU servers. EU DE 1297 always has a queue of at least 10. This wouldn't be a problem if the server wouldn't randomly kick you or your friends during shootouts or anything else you were doing, banishing you to a queue of at least 10, last time i was in a q of 15 and just straight up stopped playing. Here are the alternatives: The 366-something named servers. They both lag like no tomorrow. Other players are a literal slideshow. They don'T walk, they teleport. frozen for half a second in one spot, then they appear 4 meters ahead, and then the same thing over and over, this is how people move on this server. Imagine shooting someone who teleports from spot to spot with unconnected movements. This has been the state of these servers for OVER A YEAR, If i remember it right this was going on two years ago aswell. Not to mention that cars will guaranteed fly into the sky and are undriveable on 366-servers because of the extreme lag. The least thing Bohemia could do is provide PLAYABLE game servers for its game, other than that I love the setting and direction of the game 🙂 You might aswell wipe the 366 servers in Europe, yes people will be upset about theirs bases being gone but at least we will have more than one playable EU 1pp official server if that removes the lag.

It seems to me that since they have a small team right now they concentrate on things they can actually pull off. This change probably took a really short time and improves the game quite a bit. It also seems to me that they would fix the engine and add all kinds of helicopters and chainsaws and bows if the company gave the devs the funding and manpower to do it. -

I shot a plate guy right in the plate point blank with a slug from my pump shotgun, BOOM! GIANT LEAD BALL STRAIGHT ON HIS CHEST! He did not stagger, go uncon, he just looked at me and started dancing. I lied down, and started crying. Would be cool if slugs staggered plates, it would fit the big shotgun boom and i think its realistic AND balanced (i dont care about balance 😉 )

I never really thought about this, but watching Crowbcats video on Back 4 Blood and Left 4 Dead 2 has made me realize the enormous potential that DayZ's infected still have. In Left 4 Dead zombies have visual representation on wounds depending on what weapon they got wounded with. Bulletholes for guns, gaping cuts for blades. They react differently to being hit with different weapons. Shotguns make them fly back onto the floor, other guns make them slowly sink down onto the floor and die. A frying pan makes them stagger backwards. They have ragdoll during and after death animations. Detailed and differentiated Idle behaviours. When they don't see any survivors they lie down and relax, puke, fight eachother and do all kinds of things. They can break doors down. My message to the DayZ devs: Hello devs, please steal and implement these ideas! I can delete my post afterwards so nobody knows 😉

This would be really cool, just like the really cool fast firing M4, I do agree that it should fire maybe 15% slower for better realism, not balance. Tanks would be epic, the thing is one RPG blast from some hobo with a RPG and the turret or tracks might be irrepairably destroyed, maybe the people inside killed, so I see no problem with tanks. Also you would have to haul all the ammo and fuel to the tank in the first place which would balance it out a bit. Even being attacked by a tank would be cool, why say no to epic toys to play with when they are fun and realistic? It's not like every day you have an ak vs m4 duel, and you loose because the m4 is 30% oder hopefully in the future 15% faster?

The grunt sound when you jump can be replaced with a nice noise of your gear rattling from the force of the jump and an impact sound when you land on the floor again. This way its not as obvious that someone just jumped/climbed, so you cant ask in discord: Hey did any of you just jump? no? ok there is another player here. Also you can't instantly tell then what or who just jumped/climbed. If you just hear some clothes rattling and something landing on its feet you won't instantly know wether it was a female, male zombie OR player. Right now I can instantly tell when i hear that distinct grunt if it was a survivor or a zombie climbing nearby and even what gender and even WHAT CHARACTER MODEL it was. Ok guys I just heard a female character climb that has the darker of the two female voices, nobody in our call online right now plays as one of those. ATAACK!!!

Hm I feel it de-mystifies the death if it gives a report on what killed you. Also if you don't know what killed you, its either someone stealthily threw a grenade at you or someone shot you in the back, not much you can do other than spin and watch in all directions like the camera on the google street view cars all the time to avoid that. Also eat carrots for better vision. You got killed from 1 Meter with a shotgun: Spin more like the Google Street View Car and eat more carrots. You got killed from 1000 Meters with a Sporter: Spin more like the Google Street View Car and eat more carrots. You stepped on a landmine: Eat more carrots. You died of disease: Do less diseasy things.

Thunder is not synced, if it was you could use it to mask the sound of your shots. Would be cool if the lightning was also synced if it isn't already, at night a lightning strike lets you see your enemy for a second. If it isn't synced its unfair, whoever gets their screenrandomly lit up first gets to see the enemy.

Sync Lightning Strikes and Thunder between Clients

I edited the title. You are right, what I mean is when someone in the PD in Elektro hears thunder, everyone else inside and around should too. Every time I play with my friend during a thunderstorm (we are 5 meters next to eachother in-game) he gets scared and says: Oh, did you hear that thunder, it was so loud! And then I say: No I didn't hear any thunder. Then i hear thunder 10 seconds later and ask him if he heard it and he says no. If this extends to Lightning strikes, if two people are standing next to eachother at night and lightning strikes on one guys screen but not the other guys screen because it is not synced between them both, one guy can see the other but the other one is blind still. THis is unfair. The lightning should strike on both players screens so they can both see eachother at the same time. If now you shoot at someone while loud thunder is happening, on YOUR screen the loud bang of the shot is masked by the loud thunder, but on the victims screen he can clearly hear your shot because he doesn't hear thunder, it is generated client side at random intervals. -
Ok I was wrong then. I asumed it had lower because it is shorter. That is true, I mean that a gun knocking out instead of killing is not a huge downgrade since a ko player is as good as dead anyway if you want to kill him. It is nice to be able to take hostages though. And by saying DayZ doesnt need balance i mean: weapons should not be designed to have fair fights only or so that your favorite gun is just as viable as others. Guns should be authentic and guns should have real life attributes (size,damage,accuracy,bullet speed, rpm)

is it really balanced if 5.56 out of full auto guns does that? 107 damage? Ofcourse that is monstrously imbalanced, but DayZ is not the type of game that needs balance. Yes CS:GO does, but balancing things too much hurts DayZ. So then what do you do about M16 and the others? Give them less/more damage compared to the M4 by how much longer/shorter the barrel is and wether or not they have automatic fire (because the gas from the shot goes into a pipe that triggers the next shot, so less gaspower goes into propelling the bullet). Thats authentic. If the really long barrel of the M16 increases the bullet speed by a lot then i am fine with 100+ damage. The FAMAS 107 damage buff really bothered me because it is not AuThEnTiC at all, it was probably done so that the gun holds up against other asssault rifles with its small magazine and lack of scopes and suppressors, realistically it should do less damage than any other 5.56 gun in the game. Its not that big of a deal wether a gun insta kills or drops uncon instantly instead anyway, and if it is to you you can always just go find a better gun in the game. What bothers me is unnecessary and inauthentic balancing for the sake of pvp gameplay.
