Went from the ashes to the fire the first day i started playing DayZ. I was running around Solinicy, was pitch dark, had around 10+ zombies on my tail. All of the sudden i spawned inside a small house with at least 12 bandits. Sever went down quickly after.

Our group has grown 15 man strong in just 2 days! We're currently not looking for any new members at this moment, but will open in the future.

Dogs, Wolves or Bears sounds like a great idea. The woods are way to safe, at least at night.

It happens. Sadly you have the ones that only join the servers and spam custom sounds. I got a recording of a guy on "Chicago 7" yesterday that where pissing off the whole server. Which reminds me to upload that thing.

Our group where moving to raid a small town close to the south east coast. During our run in the forest, one guy mentioned our names in chat without stating his intentions other than "do you need a 4th?", (I'm guessing that he wanted to join us). What he didn't see was the rest of our 7 man group. After raiding the little town, we we continued onwards to "Solinichy" to save a friend that where just shot prior to our arrival and where taking cover underneath a bridge. After saving our member, one of our guys noticed another player just west of our position. Needless to say, our group has learned not to trust outsiders (especially if they are pointing a gun our way) so shots were opened. It turned out it was the guy that were asking us in chat and had followed us for quite a while. I will give him credit that he had stayed unnoticed for that long. We felt a bit bad for the guy, though.

I've never seen a mod become this popular in such a short time, ever. I mean, I where already playing ArmA OA (mostly domination) when i just stumbled over a DayZ server while browsing for other servers. Needless to say, I had to check it out. Now, two weeks later, I've learned the game a lot more (and still learning), while forming a group that has grown to 15 players in just 3 days(!) I'm here to stay :)

DayZ is so fulfilling already because you make your own "missions". So you geared up on all the best stuff. Why not take on a larger area or even bigger groups you know might holding down the NW airfield? I mean, the possibilities are endless. :)

A lot of forums has a built in image "re-size script". Even if your avatar is below the allowed kb limit, it's likely that it will be re-sized any way. Try saving your images as a ".gif" file. It won't really change the image quality since as mentioned above, the current avatar/image size is too small for the human eye to even notice any difference in quality.

Arma series in general has a pretty steep learning curve. I can only hope that those who tries the mod for the first time do not put it down because they can't figure out how the game works. Once they get used to it all, it's gonna be very rewarding, unlike other generic shooters (insert name here).

We'll gladly have you guys in our group. We're currently 6 man strong and growing stronger each day. We're all about having a laugh and enjoying the mod without to much hassle. Send me a PM should anyone want some info for my steam id as well as our TS3 ip :)

I think i read about some of the NY servers where moved to dallas instead.

It happens buddy. After playing the game for a little over a week I've learned that it's hard to find anyone to trust, at least around the major cities which is where most of the pk's take part (not counting the airfields). Quite a few people are starting to learn the player spawns now and will wait around a area just for an easy kill. I mostly find myself running in the woods with a few friends. So far we haven't really met anyone in the forest area, although we've spotted a cow and shot a few rabbits and nasty bandits. :P

And here i was feeling i was all well 'geared' with the Winchester and the hunting rifle. Doh! :p

Always nice to see new servers starting up. :)

Great post. I feel that this mod might survive for years, but if it ends up as a standalone game, I hope it will be as good as the mod is now.
