I generally try to keep my back close to a wall if i can. Since 1.5.7, you really have to watch all of your directions, which makes it pretty challenging.

Tips for finding a friend when we've both spawned far away?
landstriker replied to ABORT's topic in New Player Discussion
Hey buddy. My tip would be to for either you or your friend (or both) to try to locate a town, landmark or a road that would help you trying to figure out your current location. Check out the chernarus map should you not currently have one in your inventory. If you got the sea by your right side, you're either in the south or the east (since there is nothing apart from empty land in the north and far west. Hope that helps a little :) -
I had about 12 zombies running after me at one point. I managed to get into a house, clear out the crowd. You would think that was it. Nope. Started making my way down to a small town by the coast, found a car and 4 wheels inside a small outhouse. What's the odds i thought. All the sudden i got attacked through the wall and started bleeding. After my previous encounter with the zombie crowd, i only had 1 bullet left in my makarov. I shot the zombie but that only seemed to make him madder. After running in circles, jumping over fences i thought i lost him. Well back into the little outhouse, i started preparing the car. After getting three on the wheels on the car, i heard a familiar sound. He was back. The whole thing ended with me running for around 20 minutes in the woods with the same zombie chasing me. He ended his life after i ran onto a small dam and he drowned. I absolutely loved it!

arma2 gmg OA steam will they work together?
landstriker replied to yewluze's topic in DayZ Mod Troubleshooting
Hope this helps: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=904059 -
With the added amount of zombies, it's a lot easier just to shoot someone that poses no real threat to you, than having to find a small town and take on a lot of zombies. I do however think that camping the spawn areas just to kill someone, is plain lame. Don't let it put you off playing this mod though. I would suggest trying to find yourself a group through the DayZ forums (you can't really trust other groups in game).

Yet to experience that, but that's just epic!

Playing DayZ in singleplayer mode.
landstriker replied to Eddybogo's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Rocket has mentioned that there might be a possibility in the future of a "DayZ lite" version where people can host the mod for them self. Until then, i guess you just need to stick to the online servers. -
Lol. Wait, are you serious?

Back when I use to play RuneScape' date=' players use to do this very frequently when their HP was low and were afraid of losing their items. BUT, even if they closed their internet browser, the game sensed that they were still in a battle and didn't logout their account. Instead, the account went into idol mode and let the other player finish attacking. Only after 15 seconds of not engaging in battle would their account automatically logout successfully (and by that point, they would've been dead already). DayZ should adapt a similar system. [hr'] Also..... If this is against the rules, then is it also against the rules to log-out and avoid death when a herd of zombies are chasing you down and you have literally no possible way of defending yourself? DayZ should have a 2 minute "anti logout" timer, IMO. Character stays in game even if the player has dc'ed.

Click "esc" then click on "respawn". Should fix it :)

Do I really need Arma II: CO instead of just Arma II?
landstriker replied to chirf's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
You need both, yes. "Operation Arrowhead" is a standalone game, but you still need to have both Arma 2 and OA installed in order to run the mod. -
Fix survivor whining in next patch
landstriker replied to Jaleno's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
I can't say that I've noticed any in game screaming, might be that I am already screaming way before and after I encounter zombies. :P -
Welcome fellow DayZ'er! Like someone already mentioned' date=' check out a few of the guides, they are really handy. Unless you like to play alone, try to find a group of your liking. I would gladly invite you to ours, but we've had a influx of people joining us over the last 3 days so we're kinda slowing down when it comes to inviting new players. Take your time and enjoy the mod, don't feel bad if you die a few times, it comes with the game. Oh yes, as people also mentioned, a rule of "thumbs" is not to trust people you meet in game. You could be lucky and find a group that doesn't shoot you on sight, but they are rare and far in between. Anyways, happy hunting buddy!

The current database is doing one hell of a job, considering there are thousands of people trying to connect to it at the same time, not to mention each server that get's spammed by connections and disconnects. I like the idea about having a database for each server, would certainly put a lot of less stress on the current single database. I can't wait to see what the future brings for DayZ. :)

Patch 1.5.7 and this being an Alpha and fucking zombie spawns
landstriker replied to rocket's topic in Mod Announcements & Info
Loving it so far, quite challenging but that's what make it fun. -
@OP: I'm currently laying at the gas station north of Solinicy, shall we meet up?

Wish you the best with the server, the more the merrier. Our group of 15 will most likely drop by at some point. :)

Looking pretty, if I'm not mistaking the design was made by a fan?
