This is the General DayZ topic section, not the troubleshooting section and yet when you scroll through the threads 99% of them are complaints about servers down, missing items, wipes, broken mechanics etc etc. You can see just how bad this game is when you step out away from it for a while. Wake up, people.

====================================== 1.05 Patch notes Added ban list for community servers ====================================== Lol just as I expected. Too little too late. The snail's pace at which the devs work is way too slow. Expecting us to fund the game out of alpha for years and years. #fallof76 <------- that's BI and DayZ

Where to start with this..... Right from the start, Nitrado's apps are dog****. 1) You can tell right away when you use it that it's super basic. The functionality is poor. It looks and navigates like some a**hole coded it with an old lates 80s computer language. 2) Server admins CANNOT ADMIN ANYTHING!! As a server admin, all you can do is listen! Listen to reports of dupers that you can't do anything about. Listen to reports of the server being down. Every single day that's all I do is reply "sorry, looking into it" "sorry its up" "sorry its stuck in endless restart loop" "sorry I cant do anything" The log viewer is garbage which makes that feature useless. All admins can do is set the name of the server and change a few lame options. 3) Server stability is TRASH. Everyday. All we hear are reports asking why it's down. We can't even force a restart. If it's stuck restarting we have to just wait. Sometimes up to 8 hours. Unacceptable. We can't ask our player base (which we have a large one of) for donations because the server has so many issues. Why would anybody support our server? Got me thinking.....why am I supporting it? Love the game. Can't stand the company behind it. $150 a month. Yea, no more. Thanks but no thanks. It's principle. 🙂

My team and I aren't happy with DayZ/BI/Nitrado. At $145 a month it's just not worth it. Considering sticking with it through these initial times until things get better but I know BI and the smart move is to avoid any more bs. Not happy about this either. Oh well. Thanks anyways?

Thanks for your input but I wouldn't be here making this thread had I not exhausted all options first. We have some bright people in our team and we already tried everything. Go get a 100 player server and see for yourself.

Not even frustrating just disappointing. Between the time I posted here yesterday and today the server has been restarting and going offline and that's with a fresh install and no players too. So it has nothing to do with traffic or anything I did in the settings because it's in it's default state lol!! The servers are just trash. The customer service is trash. (Go ahead try) The devs don't care. You can tell right away that the whole thing is budget when you get their app. Middle school-level design. 😁👍

We took it down as best we could. Deleted Discord, Facebook group etc. Reinstalled server and let it just sit there for remaining 2 weeks or so until expiry. Even in it's default, fresh install state it keeps restarting, stopping, idling at stopped, restarting etc. Maybe it's the 100 player servers with worse performance. Also, it's easy to comment for those who haven't experienced the issues we have (did) with 100 player slots. So glad it's gone tbh. All we did was pay $150 a month to act as customer service to our players every hour complaining the server is down. DayZ devs could easily get Nitrado to implement more tools for community servers. And if it's being worked on already - tell us. Instead they work on new content instead of fixing things. That, plus their silence on the community server issues tells me that they are content taking our money (well, your money) to finance said content. It's insulting. All good though cuz it's finished now! Phew!

They didn't warn us that the stability would be poor. They didn't warn us that they'd not try to improve the servers - instead opting to grab more cash with DLC. Your response was anticipated. Textbook NPC.

Clearly this person I've quoted has no idea what they're talking about. The server log is an atrocious and useless feature. We are talking big boy servers with 100 slots with heavy traffic. Good luck sifting through that.

Most likely going to cancel our 100 slot public community server.

When the monthly renewal comes up for our 100 slot server it will NOT be paid. Nitrado/DayZ devs are a complete joke. Great game (concept). Garbage companies behind it. -
Changes like server name, day/night duration etc. and the config file changes won't show until you restart the server. Change 6.2 to 0 for longest days Change 1.7 to 64 for fastest nights There are threads for server messages (in config file). Uncheck the bottom option in server settings to be able to view logs. These logs will then be located on a log tab called DayZsomething. Again, server restarts required for most if not all changes.
-
Everybody, don't forget to save config file changes when the server is OFFLINE. https://twitter.com/DayZ/status/1164925680779452416?s=20

The examples in the config files are "commented out". Meaning the html code in there for each example message works but only if you set them OUTSIDE of the comment syntax. The comment syntax is started with a: <!-- and end with a: --> Find those in the default config code where the examples are. They must be pasted OUTSIDE of those two commands. What I would suggest is copying the entire default config code, all of it and paste and save it to a text file so you have a master copy on case you make a mistake. All message code would look like this: <messages> <message> Xxxxxxxxxxcodexxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx </message> <message> Xxxxxxxxxxxxcodexxxxxxxxxxxxx </message> </messages> All messages would be placed inside the plural ones. I got it working easily using cut n paste. Then I edited the messages to make it how I wanted. I'll help you if you still need help but most things are simple with some testing. *****EDIT***** The config file changes must be saved while the server is OFFLINE according to a DayZ Twitter post a few days ago. https://twitter.com/DayZ/status/1164925680779452416?s=20 ***********

You have to save the config file when the server is OFFLINE. I totally forgot to add that to my "server messages simple" thread. https://twitter.com/DayZ/status/1164925680779452416?s=20

Yea we have a team who share it responsibility. You're welcome to join. It's open to public. -
LOOTERz n SHOOTERz 24/7 NYC 100 slots public community Longest days/shortest nights Streamer-friendly No strict rules (how would the powerless admins deal with it anyway? We need more powers) Evolving server (again, we need more admin options to be able to mold it how we like) Discord/Facebook/Twitter Laid back admins Giveaways/Prizes (in future when we have more options) See you on the trails!
-
Yes. There might be a way to get the server messages to display this info but I'd have to look into it further. Sorry for the confusion.
-
Yes. In order to see the log file you must uncheck the "reduce log input" (if it is checked) in the server settings. Then you must restart the server. You'll then notice a new log tab beside the restart log tab. It shows lots of information.
-
All I saw in that thread was a bunch of confusion. Thanks for your valuable input though.

LOOTERz n SHOOTERz 24/7 NYC is almost at max capacity right now 100 players. Browser tweaks are helpful. Thanks for letting me rant. Everybody get out there on the trails! -

LnS247 replied to LnS247's topic in Xbox
You shouldn't have to. But they've better filter now so my rant was close to pointless. -
I should have said, commented out means any text inside the <!-- texttexttext --> won't be treated as html code. Comments in code are for devs to make notes. Html ignores anything inside those commands. So, BI gave us examples to work with that do work but only if you use those functions outside of those commands. In other words the devs did us a favor but they hoped we'd know basic html. Once you find the two commands for comments/notes in your config file then you can see where to copy paste the messages. Then edit to how you like.

LnS247 replied to LnS247's topic in Xbox
Ok! So, as usual I'm just being a whiner. I didn't want to have to manipulate the server name to keep it at the top of page one but it's working (for now). Plus, BI has added filter to hide USELESS locked servers. So, things are improving and more options coming from the devs so we are going to be more patient. Thanks -

LnS247 replied to LnS247's topic in Xbox
I see my point is lost on some of you. It's simple: Players are forcing their 10 player server which is PRIVATE (meaning its locked to public) ....forcing their server to appear on page one which buries PUBLIC COMMUNITY servers. Therefore my server is getting less traffic because some selfish dummy wants to post their LOCKED 10 PLAYER SERVER at the top. There is no need. Find server, fav it. People only think for themselves though. I've now decided to play that game too. I manipulated the server name to get it on page 1. And I'll keep doing it to keep it there. It was very simple, my point about the browser and way people put their useless (to the public) server at the top of page 1. If your server has a lock on it .....it doesn't belong on the default filter of page one. Sorry. It's the lock on the server. Stay off the top of the browser if you lock your server. Like I said, I'll just keep manipulating the name to stay on page one. -
"On the Nitrado server settings" Ok so what is so complicated about that?
