Most likely going to cancel our 100 slot public community server.
LnS247 replied to LnS247's topic in Xbox
And there are so many of those servers all vying for "top spot" on the first page by using special characters in front of the server name in order get it at the top. And most of those servers are all locked. Like, besides trolling, what is the point putting a 10 player server with a password on the first page? The browser should filter out all of those by default and rank the servers differently. If players want to seek out a locked server then they should have to filter it. Good servers or servers with potential are being buried in the browser. That is just one minor annoyance. I was aware ahead of time about the limited options for server operators but there really isn't much use renting a large public server when I cannot make it my own. I'm still debating this with our team because I want to stick with it. -
There should be an option to "reinstall server" on the Nitrado server settings. I'd imagine this wipes the server including all characters. Keep in mind I have not done this yet to be able to confirm but I think this is what you're looking for.

Filter out locked servers and give precedence to popular, high pop servers.
LnS247 posted a topic in Xbox
Reposting this in proper sub-forum. As most of you know, server operators were putting a space before their server name in order to get it near the top of the server list. It went alphabetically, then numerically, then special characters, and a simple space before the name trumped all of those. After a few days you saw lots of servers at the top with each one using more and more spaces in order to get higher on the list. What made it silly was 99% of those servers were LOCKED and to make it even lamer, they were only 10 slot servers. People do it to troll, sure. But many were just selfish and ignorant. BI should set the browser to default to show high pop servers that have consistent population. Starting with the 100 slots and working downward. If a player wants to browse locked servers, add it to the filter. There should be an algorithm to give precedence to the most popular, highest population servers. -
Yes but I was just being a jerk. For that, I apologize. Hopefully you get that looting-off-zombies issue resolved. It's pretty straight forward. If you have further questions, ask! I'll try to be more helpful.

I admit I'm just salty today. I hear "DLC" and worry this game could be ruined by the fortnite crowd. Again, I'm just being a little wuss today. Out of respect for the forum reps, I'll change my avatar from the original DayZ logo as not to confuse others. FWIW I had no idea that avatar was used by reps here. Thanks

Filter out locked servers and give precedence to popular, high pop servers.

You inferred that I meant a locked server. It runs fine. But it's only full on weekends. -
They really make it difficult to support this game. DLC. Next we are going have microtransactions. Maybe we can pay real money for Beans currency used to buy useless skins.

You're misunderstanding the word "private". There is no lock/password on my 100 player server. Public maxes out at 60 players. If anything, the 60 player server is dull compared to a high pop 100 player server. All I'm saying in the OP is popular, high pop servers with consistent population should be displayed prominently. -
DayZ is not a DLC game. Especially when they have enough bugs to fix.

Dear devs, The point of this thread went over the heads of those already replying. And laugh out loud at "public servers better than private." -
Too many people have very poor listening/reading and comprehension skills. You'd think the internet would make people smarter instead it's the opposite. Empty hands. Hold A on zombie item. RB/LB over to empty hands. Release A. "I like money."
-
Yea let's all put locks on our 10 player servers and then manipulate the name to get it at the top. Lol @ the mouth breathing population who do that.
-
You could probably reinstall the server on the Nitrado site but that would reset everything, characters included. Not an ideal idea to keep players happy.
-
That's good. I've read some players say that their server went online this weekend so they must be rolling them out as they can. Thanks for the info!
-
Or know anybody who has successfully requested and received a refund? I see so many complaints on Twitter with players saying they've been waiting since August 8th for their server(s). Nitrado tweeted that they needed DayZ to release the server browser update before more servers could continue to roll out. But DayZ released that 4 days ago and Nitrado has been silent since. Figure the refunds are going to start being requested

Incorrect. It said preorder before they went live with 1.04 and it says preorder as of this post.
-
I'm sorry that you're still waiting.

Try to find someone you trust to split server costs with you. Maybe eventually you can get a solid player-base going and start receiving donations.
-
Bro, may I ask why you and punctuation don't speak anymore?

Maybe this helps: https://forums.dayz.com/topic/245850-infotip-daynight-duration-times-for-server-operators/

I was looking at getting a second server but I'm wondering if there is any point now if it won't be delivered.
-
I am curious on how to get these working too. A friend told me he has another friend with a private server who has successfully set and activated custom server messages so apparently it is possible. I'll post here when I find out.

Ah, my apologies. I'm going to try to change my answer.

Default standard server multiplier: 6.2 Range: 1-24 Default night time server multiplier: 1.7 Range: 0.1-64 For maximum daylight and fastest nights: Standard: 1 Night: 64 So far, these settings (1 and 64) make day last incredibly long and the night less than 10 minutes (give or take). Hope this helps.
