Then maybe an issue on nitrados end?
-
Hey Trev. Fyi..... I just played a decently long session and noticed a lot of frame rate drops. It got so bad I had to quit. I made a mistake renting a server for the month. I think I'm going to shelve this game after this.
-
I have heard some others having the same problem in Twitter responses. I had a noticeably choppy experience in one session (I started renting a server again yesterday) but it wasn't as bad later on. .....still choppier than usual though at times. I suspect it had to do with some of the environmental tweaking / enhancements they made but who knows. The thing is, I don't think they spend a lot of time optimizing for console with these updates. .....or even play testing for that matter or they would have noticed obvious bugs like the mic issue. Personally, I wouldn't mind sacrificing some things like draw distance, better weather effects, etc. if it meant better performance. I just put a car together and had one relatively bad lag event and rubberbanding but we'll see how it goes. The inventory is still screwed up as items are still getting stuck unless you follow the workarounds. .....not really sure what they fixed to be honest although navigation seems easier at times but there are still quirks with it.
-
I like the new lighting. I don't mind them tweaking it but it is much more realistic for those moonlit nights. IMO, the lighting should depend on cloud cover, position of the moon, phases, etc. but that's likely never going to happen. As it is, NVGs still provide an advantage as I still can't see as clearly or as far as I can with them on. Either way, they added the option on private servers to turn that off or on so that's nice. If they decide to nix it, they should at least keep that option on rented servers as there would be no need to remove it. NVGs were way overpowered in regard to gameplay balance IMO / IME. At least with the moonlight, those without have a more realistic chance against those with. They still have an advantage, jut not as severe now. .....but again, I would love for them to go further with this and limit the lighting based on the factors I mentioned. Personally, I felt the game was boring when night time came on public servers as we would spend more time hiding out to avoid being picked off or stalked by those who could see as if it were daylight. It was always pitch black which is simply not the case IRL.

Thanks for the update and quickness regarding this on the consoles.

So, does this mean they actually fixed the inventory bugs and if so, which ones? I'm hearing the reload button is still a problem (triangle) and some new bugs have been introduced like the mic turning on when accessing your inventory. ......essentially alerting folks nearby that you're there when you really don't want your presence known. I'm glad they are finally trying to fix these things but personally, I'll reserve my kudos to them until I hear more about just what has actually been fixed and what new problems they have introduced this time. -
So even when you're full in regard to the food bar, consuming more food will still fill it up in essence? ....without being wasted? You can also get sick from eating too much, no?
-
Agreed..... I use to camp a lot out in the desert and when the moon is out, you can see a lot more than what is portrayed in the game. When the moon is full, you don't even need any other light source as it is quite bright already. I sure hope these server options they're talking about are coming to console. btw, I just saw that they put 1.07 back on the experimental server again for PC to address a crash tied to inventory manipulation. The thing is, it sounded as if they already sent the patch to Sony for certification. I sure hope not. This patch and how well it addresses the problems, session options, etc. will determine if I rent another server and start playing again.
-
Agreed. Servers where you know the player base is at least working toward the same goal in relation to the rules they want to play by, etc. is the only way to go for me. Public DayZ servers on PS4 were actually not so bad initially. The gameplay was different in that people were still exploring and trying to figure out the game. Encounters were "iffy" but there was a good chance the other guy would at least be open to a dialogue with you without shooting you outright. Now it's essentially KOS which I honestly can't blame people for. I stopped playing and gave up my server due to the issues but with the recent "fixes" they have been talking about in 1.07 and the changes to the server options for rentals, I just might rent another one for a month to see how it goes. I'm actually excited by the customization options as it adds value to the rentals. .....you really can't change much as it stands now.
-
The inventories on things like this including car trunks, tents, barrels, etc. can all get "bugged". Most times IME it has to do with how you transfer items to and from them. If you're careful, you can sometimes avoid things getting stuck, etc. but sometimes things just don't go your way. When I was still playing and rented my own server, I would have to restart it occasionally which would help fix some of hear issues. On public servers, we had to relog which would take care of some problems but usually not inventory related. We had to wait for the server restart for that as mentioned which was out of our control.

Water doesn't seem to effect anything I've carried in the pot with it. The water was also drinkable throughout. ......I've used them as canteens when other more appropriate containers weren't around and also as storage to save space at the same time.
-
Although they exist, the 10 - 20 rnd mags are kind of an odd inclusion in the game IMO especially when you find them on a military base in the qty's I have. ......I dunno. Maybe things are different over there. Either way, I'm sure it was mostly for gameplay reason to add more value / worth to those larger mags when you find them, trade them, etc. The capacity changes only affect weapons with external magazines obviously. Rifles with internal mags remain the same. Funny thing with the M4 high cap 60 rnd option is that (if I remember correctly) it's actually two 30 rnd magazines attached together but there is no animation to show your character switching between them. You simply shoot through all 60 uninterrupted until it's empty.

DayZ Livonia Server Switch and Server Shutdown
Kean__1 replied to Greensek's topic in News & Announcements
So it's confirmed they are going to Fragnet? I was running a 10 person server for for just a couple friends and that was laggy as well. Had nothing to do with populations I'm our case. Also had the same problems / bugs in low pop public servers unfortunately. I'm hoping the lag was at least partly due to the service and it gets better with the switch. -
DayZ Livonia Server Switch and Server Shutdown
Kean__1 replied to Greensek's topic in News & Announcements
So what happens to rentals in the future when you switch providers? Will those still be hosted by Nitrado or a new service? -
I can't recall the patch but it was a couple months back (could have been around the same time you noticed changes), but it was like someone flipped a switch in regard to vehicle performance for me. We were still on the same server I was renting and there was no other changes on my end but sudden;y the freezes just weren't that bad while driving. I could easily maintain speeds of 50 kph or more although that would increase the chances of lag albeit a more rare occurrence. Funny thing is, whatever changed on their end had no effect on my friends problems as he still had to maintain ~20 kph to avoid crashing. I reported all this to BI on the appropriate site as I thought it was valuable info but as always, no acknowledgement let alone a response. The only difference in our systems is that I have an external SSD. All of the other issues remained however as I still had to use the workarounds for reloading and interacting with the inventory system to avoid items being stuck. ....and even then there were no guarantees. Before I gave up on my server and the game, I lost my character due to lag and being attacked by invisible zombies. It started out with my weapons not dealing any damage and I had to run. When I got to my car there were no Z's in sight. I remained on top of the car until the lag stopped but suddenly started taking hits out of nowhere. ......then I died. I'm am seriously contemplating asking for a refund from Sony and reporting all of this in regard to how there is no support, etc. If they ever get their act together, then maybe I'll buy the game again down the road.
-
Seems while the next coming patch addresses some inventory issues (absolutely vague as to what those are), vehicles as well as desync issues / lag, etc. are not mentioned. .....still waiting for that roadmap they promised would be out this month when they announced it last year so we can have a clue as to what exactly they will be working on. I have since let my server rental expire and stopped playing the game all together. I'll keep checking back here to see when they finally start getting their crap together and fix the game like they said they were going to focus on around the time of the PS4 release. ......before they went essentially silent. What can I say? ......I fell for the whole "turning a corner" pitch which ended up feeling more like a "bait and switch" maneuver.
-
......I would add, just be sure to wash or disinfect your hands after skinning certain animals (e.g. chickens) as you can get sick and then you'll really be in a world of hurt. Personally, I'd suggest checking the boats along the coast for canned goods, homes along the way and even straggling Infected that are easy targets as they can be a great source for canned goods as well as other loot. Obviously, something that can open cans will be just as important as finding food but just remember that some tools will leave less food in the can than others. A can opener will retain all of the contents. For me, canned food and a way to open them is usually my #1 priority when starting out. .....and I collect items of opportunity along the way (e.g. matches, knives, a backpack, weapons, etc.) but I don't wander too far from the good sources until I am stocked. Boats also have fishing rods and hooks. If you find a knife and matches while looking for food, you can dig up worms, combine with a hook, combine the baited hook with the pole, catch some fish, fillet and then cook them. Half a fish will usually fill my food meter from yellow to full. .....a few cooked fish in your inventory and you're ready to start looking for other important items, travel, etc. without much worry regarding food. .....at least for a while.

The performance issues go beyond lag spikes in vehicles for many of us. Also, there are folks who have freezes at any speed so they have to drive below or around 20 kph everywhere they go. That used to be me too until after one of the updates and then I was able to travel faster except in towns. ....then it got a little worse but still better than my friends who gets long lags and have to maintain a low speed always. I have no idea what they changed and even was a good sport and reported it on their support site. ....but in usual BJ fashion, they don't respond to anyone there either even though they encourage people to report problems there in their rare Twitter.repsonses. To the OP... Yes, seek a refund through Sony would be my suggestion. I'm still mulling it over myself since I cancelled my server subscription and stopped playing because of the bugs / performance. It could be a great game someday but not in its current form.
-
Well, for anyone following this, I'm done with this game. ....at least for now. I let my server rental lapse and won't be spending any more money until I see not only this issue fixed but also meaningful updates that address the long standing issues that plague the game for many of us. The icing on the cake was a Tweet I read from BI this morning regarding rentals not showing up as if this was some kind of new problem. .....it's been going on for a while now and they previously acknowledged it but never updated anyone on the issue. I'm really close to asking for a refund from Sony as some others have but then another side of me would really like to see them pull this off. The trouble is, their communication is horrible these days. They keep saying to use the troubleshooting site to report problems but they never interact with any of us on their either. ......bad way to treat your customers IMO / IME. https://mobile.twitter.com/DayZ/status/1219203304196124673
-
......so, I gather you (BI) know about the issues with some of us being unable to access our rented servers as I have been following the Tweets, but my question is how are customers compensated in these cases. ......or do you plan to simply carry on without addressing this once the servers are again available? I would think it only fair to compensate those affected with extra days on their accounts as they are otherwise paying for a monthly service that isn't complete, right? EDIT: Now it seems my server is completely gone. It's not listed on the Community server list. EDIT2: Was finally able to log in last night. Got kicked out of the first session but was able to stay in the second for a couple hours. I guess I'll see if my server is still there today.
-
I have up recently and let my server rental lapse too. I'm giving up until I see some meaningful updates that actually address these long standing issues that plague the game for many of us. What really tore it for me was the latest issue where rentals could not not be seen in the server list at times. Nitrado did what they could for me (compensated me for about 6-7 days) but ultimately said it was on BIs end. BI made a Tweet about it days ago and then went silent. Today, they said they're looking into it like it was a new issue. .....I'm done for now.

....feast or famine. Sometimes I find certain items that constantly spawn and then other times I can't find them to save my life.

Since fishing became a possibility, I have found it's been a great source of food. The boats along the coast that have been good for food sources in the past but I find are slim pickings these days although still better than most other places. However, they have been great for finding fishing poles and hooks so far. If you come across a pole and hook(s) while looking for cans of food and loot homes for a knife and matches, you're good to go. You can then dig up worms using the knife on grassy ground, combine them with the hook(s), combine with the pole and then fish off the coast. Find a long stick by harvesting bushes, gather shorts sticks, cut trees if you have an axe, etc. for logs to build a fire. You'll need to gut and fillet the fish by using your knife before you can combine with your long stick and cook them. I have found cooked fish are some of the best, most effective sources of food. I noticed that when I'm in the yellow, just half a fish will bring my character back up to full or really close to it. Catch and cook a few fish and you're good to go for a while. You can also fabricate a pole and hooks using animal bones if needed. .....just remember to wash or sterilize your hands after butchering. .....and the Infected are good sources for canned goods too as mentioned. More so than boats these days IME / IMO. I've heard this before but I have found that ever since they introduced this mechanic, all I had to do is empty the bottle, canteen, etc. and then fill it with water from a clean source and all was good. I've never disinfected my containers and never became ill because of it. I guess I've either been really lucky or maybe it's not really required?

I was (am) having similar issues for the past couple weeks or so. My server would simply disappear off the list. I contacted Nitrado but all they could tell me is that the server was up which every time it was by the time they checked. Problem is that it wasn't when I wanted to play. This last time they said they have no control if my server isn't on the list within the game. That's a problem with the game, not their server. They did credit me twice for about 3 days each due to my problems but said it's the game. Unfortunately, I have no idea how to contact BI since they never seem to get back to me or others on these problems. I even tried the other site where you report such things when I've had other issues and it seems they just ignore everyone. They mentioned server issues before about a week ago on Twitter and said there was no eta on a fix and then went silent. My server will run out in a couple days and I'm seriously considering just letting it lapse. I'm not going to continue paying for service that I can't always get when I want to play. .....and if that's the case, I'm going to take a break from DayZ or maybe even contact Sony for a refund due to the state of this game like some others have.

Yeah, I know. It's horrible. IMO, it should depend on stamina and / or right after you shoulder the weapon. Let's say you were running, climbing or doing anything to exert yourself and lower your stamina, the weapon sway would be worse but get better shortly as you calm down. ....at least that's how I envision a mechanic like this working. The "holding your breath" thing is fine but that should be for the last bit of accuracy. .....the longer shots where that little bit of sway is more pronounced when using those kinds of optics and it would count. IRL, there's no way weapon sway would be that bad for someone with a little shooting experience and knowledge of how to handle / steady a weapon. .....even when standing. .....or they could just revert it back to the way it was. I never thought it needed changing anyhow.
-
Yeah, I tried everything including FOV changes, zooming in, etc. There is a distinct difference between TPV and FPV though with me. ....not with my friend on the same private server. It's funny because the perspective made zero difference before when performance sucked regardless of what I did. I agree..... I think a lot of it has to do with draw distance, etc. I'd be ok with them cutting back on some of those things if it improved overall performance.
