Car glitches/despawn/update 1.10 PS4 (+ Message Game Developers)
Kean__1 replied to TheRealKaiiin's topic in Troubleshooting
If there is something I've learned is that not every spot on the map is safe to park your car. I'm not saying there is a pattern to it but there is certainly some spots that seem to be more consistent than others. I've had cars disappear too and then I've had cars that I park at gas stations, at bases in certain areas, etc. dozens of times that never have problems. It is certainly frustrating when it happens though. .....and yeah, the freezing while driving is absolutely horrible although more so for some folks than others. Before it magically improved for me, I had to constantly drive no more than ~20kph. Anything above that speed could result in a crash, etc. My suggestion to you is to do the same. It seems that impacts at around or under that speed usually won't result in damage. I know it essentially a crawl in terms of driving but still faster than walking. .....and doesn't use up your food, water, shoes, etc. You're also an easy target though but what else can you do? -
Hey.... At least now they've been engaging with the community after a long period of silence. I'm not saying you don't have an excellent point as I think their customer service is lackluster at best up to this point, but the interactions we've had since 1.07 are10x better than it was before which was essentially nothing. Even on Twitter they are beginning to respond to questions, criticism, etc.

As far as I can tell, weather isn't localized. I've driven darn near from one end of the map to the other at a decent clip in rainstorms before. I also made many runs from the NW airbase to the south coast with no impression that it mattered where you were on the map. I also have talked to friends on PSN chat while they were miles away and were experiencing the same bad weather I was.

Well, just because someone was in a distant territory of the Roman Empire didn't mean they were left to their own devices. Those provinces were still under their control. Order was maintained by local governments established by the Empire. In the world of DayZ, I agree with Max that the form of currency you speak of makes no sense. In the DayZ post-apocalyptic, chaotic world where there is no established structure of government, economy, etc., things like cash, gold or diamonds have little or no value. Items of trade are mostly those that help keep you alive. .......food, water, weapons, ammunition, clothing, services, tools, etc. There is no order and no stability. Any organic interactions I've had in the game have usually included the trade of items like these. .....but let's say they did simply add currency in the game. What do players do with it? BI would have to add an economic system in the game where players could spend this money otherwise it would (again) be useless. The only sense I can see it making is for those creating their own RP servers, etc. where they establish shops, trading centers, safe zones, etc., with a simulated economy and established rules (i.e. control). ....but then you're talking about a select few people that would take advantage of this while to everyone else the addition would be worthless.

Sometimes you can hear your character make subtle, uncomfortable noises. I always carry an extra pair of shoes with me at all times unless I have a vehicle (then I just put them in the trunk). .....or a roll of duct tape but you need to keep an eye on the condition of them before they are ruined and unable to be repaired.
-
Glad to hear you got it sorted. Yes, you should be able to add wood and sticks after it is lit but IME, it doesn't always let me. .....at first. Sometimes I have to let the fire go out. It still exists as a campfire though so then I will add the wood / sticks and the kindling (e.g. a rag, paper or bark) and then reignite the fire with matches. However, I think the main takeaway from this is that you do need the fire starter which is a rag, piece of paper (which you can get from unboxing an item like a headlight bulb or ammo), bark, etc.
-
There are good weapons you can find in civilian homes, police stations, etc. but there are more capable options available and once you have those, the other ones usually become secondary or even irrelevant. To me, the Winchester is one of those albeit one of the better choices among them IMO / IME.
-
You can also try just stopping tinder like a rag, paper or bark, equipping matched in hand and then you should be able to light it. Again, I don't think you can add sticks or logs while lit but simply lighting the tinder will create a fireplace and you can add items afterward and reignite.

3) I've found the repeater and the ammo in houses and I believe they can spawn in farms too. As for the other two questions, I'm not too sure but.... 1) I don't believe so. Servers seem to be independent in this regard as they don't necessarily follow the same time of day either. It may be certain blocks of servers do though but I really don't know. I suspect they are all independent. 2) Again, not sure but I recall hearing that it was somewhere in the ballpark of 30-40+ days? I believe the answer is in this forum though as I recall having the conversation with someone who knew. ....sorry.

Saw someone provide a workaround on Twitter. Try pressing the R1 button to bring up the item wheel when things begin to lag. This helped mitigate the problem for me. It seems to happen whenever accessing your inventory or that of others, containers and when viewing items. Just tapping the button corrects the excessive frame rate drop for me. Sucks to have to use yet another workaround but its better then nothing for now. The thing is, BI does know about it and say they are working on a fix.

Try describing exactly what you're doing so we can see if it's something you might be missing? I've lit a few fires since the update and hadn't noticed a change in that mechanic although that doesn't mean it's not working for some people.

Thanks for the update and quickness regarding this on the consoles.

Are you saying you can't communicate with others in game? -
Good deal. Glad to see it's back up and here's hoping it's not next on the chopping block.

Check their Twitter page. They have been making announcements of servers being terminated, etc. and in some of those tweets they provide links as well. You may find your answer in one of them. EDIT: Here's the thread although there may be another one. Also I would read through the posts to see if they added more info that way vs. the original post.
-
Ah..... When you said "my" server, I thought you were talking about your own server that you rent. That public server could have been one of the latest victims of BI's culling. They have been closing down servers in batches. There is an announcement around here somewhere and I see the updates on Twitter. If you can locate the info, they do list the servers affected. That could be the problem in your case.
-
Did you contact Nitrado? Have you tried restarting your server and removing all search filters? I only ask because I've had the problem too in the past and sometimes I was able to get it to show up by doing some of those things myself. In my case, Nitrado was also more helpful as they actually responded to my trouble tickets I submitted to them. They also credited a few days in my case to my account for the lost time.

The good news (which leaves some hope) is that they acknowledged the frame rate issues recently in a Twitter response and said they are working on it now. It just seems odd that they suddenly became (relatively speaking) more open after this latest TU. DayZ is also being promoted as being part of a big sale right now on PSN that just started. .....one in which they touted he 1.07 update addressing bugs in the game. EDIT: They didn't address the frame rate issues in this last patch released a few hours ago but saw another user mention that if you click the R1 button (item wheel button), it will help stop it when it begins to occur. They said it was caused by inventory interactions or something along those lines. I tested it and it worked. As least there is yet another workaround people found for it but this is getting really annoying to have to use these "methods" to get the game mechanics to work while they remain broken. I would think that if the community has identified ways to make them work right, that would at least give some indication to the devs where to look for the root problem and fix these issues once and for all. Either way, at least the frame rate issue can be sidestepped it seems. Definitely not a performance issue with the consoles but still kinda strange if it's happening more on PS4 vs. XB1. -

Well, since that post of mine I rented a server again and played a few sessions. What I discovered is that while some things regarding the inventory seem better, things still get stuck in containers (e.g. car trunks, barrels, tents, etc. if you don't use the work-arounds. The reload button use to cause my weapons to glitch to where you couldn't reload the weapon anymore, the magazine, etc. Ghost-bullets (in my case) could happen with weapons also loaded using the combine method so it wasn't isolated to using the reload action for me. After the patch, I have not tried using the button yet but to be honest, a more glaring, new issue has come up that has been ruining my gameplay. .......frame rate issues. The gameplay at times will get so choppy that it becomes unplayable IMO. This is apparently one of the new issues brought about by the latest update (as usual). Beyond that, I just don't see any big improvements with this inventory as I still have to use work-arounds and management, browsing, etc. still seems clunky (e.g. scrolling down/up you still can't see everything at times and have to fiddle with it). The one big improvement I can say I'm happy with (which was an addition) is the ability to edit the files on private servers. -
Your best bet is to start doing searches regarding editing of these files including even searches with the file names themselves. You can learn what some of the parameters mean and maybe even some of the units they use (e.g. whether they represent a percentage, qty, etc.). I've done some cursory searching myself and was able to edit some of the files but I can tell it's going to take me a lot longer to figure some of this stuff out. .....including a little trial and error. Some of the PC guides are helpful but we are missing access to some of the files they are able to edit. I'm guessing at some point someone will make a guide for PS4 as well. For now, it seems I just need to read up.

Does this Day Z for PS4 have an Single Player or Private Server to play
Kean__1 replied to IceKing74's topic in New Player Discussion
@Trev_Bash Actually, the 4 slot is only for PC. With PS4 the smallest one is 10 slots at a cost of $13 USD/mo. I even spoke with someone at Nitrado and suggested they offer 4 slot servers as there are those who only want to play alone and / or with a small groups of friends. I think it would attract more folks personally. -
I had a piece of paper after unpacking some bullets... In this particular case I dropped the paper, put the matches in my hand and then looked directly at the paper on the ground. The option to ignite (R2) appears on the screen and voila. You can also use a rag, bark, etc. but you need something like that to start the fire as kindling and combine sticks or logs for sustainable fires.

Kean__1 replied to IceKing74's topic in New Player Discussion
They do but you have to rent one through Nitrado. It's $13USD / month for a 10 person server. You can also set some of your own parameters like day / night time cycles and now they even opened some of the files so if you know what you're doing, you can change other things like loot, spawn points, etc. as well. Other than that, your only other option is public servers. However, there are some groups that allow anyone to play on their private servers as long as you play by their rules. There may be some out there that are PvE only that you can find. -
Hey Todd... The frame rate stutter was so bad tonight that I couldn't handle it anymore and logged off. ....but before I did, I checked and at least in my case, I was able to start a fire.
-
If you want to run it by me what you're trying to do to make fire, I'll try to help. You can even cut down bushes with your bare hands to produce sticks. You'll need small sticks. You can use bark that you can cut from trees with a knife but you can also use rags for starter. I usually split my stack of rags until I have one, I drop it, I equip matches and then ignite it. Its then a campfire that I can add sticks to to keep going. .....or logs, etc. I'm not sure why your experience is creating fires but it sounds like you already know how. Perhaps if you mention what you're doing exactly it would help. Personally, I'm not going to assume its due to something you're doing wrong since there are still odd bugs I'm encountering too since the update. .....bugs that I hadn't encountered before.
-
I'll try it out next time I'm on Todd. I've noticed some new odd things too that n one else has seemed to bring up like the 3rd person view camera creeping up and/or down at times. I have to go back into first person view to reset it. I guess my point is that there seems to be a few things screwed up in the update as usual. .....and then the next update will be about fixing those while leaving the persistent bugs / optimization issues relatively untouched. I'll let you know how it goes with making fire for me. Hopefully someone else with the same problem can chime in.
