DayZ on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S

Not sure what you mean by that. It's already playable on PS5 via backward compatibility. .....unless you mean a PS5 specific version of the game which I doubt would ever come to fruition since it will split the player base further. ....among other reasons. I do hope they a least take advantage of some of the enhancement capabilities through the backward compatibility feature though. They can still tweak it to run even better on PS5.

DayZ on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S

I have no idea what's involved but they do have the option to optimize the PS4 version to support the Game Boost features on the PS5. .....similar to how some titles used the PS4 Pro enhancements option for better graphics, faster frame rates and so on. ....so yeah, that would be nice to see especially if they don't have plans for a full blown optimized PS5 version in the future. Of course, all of this is dependent upon the developer. The tools are there so it's up to them what they take advantage of to improve their game. Seems to me that they were simply concerned about making DayZ backward compatible and not necessarily taking advantage of the opportunity to improve the game much more beyond that for PS5 customers. I'm really hoping that's just a temporary, stopgap decision to make sure DayZ fans can at least still enjoy the game on PS5 and not the end of their plans for improving it on the new gen console(s). ....otherwise we'll be stuck with what runs on PS4 so we're not likely to see the implementation of helicopters, etc. until they actually deliver a PS5 optimized version.

DayZ on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S

@beya2, That's good to hear. As for an enhanced version of DayZ on PS5, I doubt it although it would be a good opportunity for them to make more money so there is an incentive for them to do it. I'm just glad to hear it's running smoother on the new gen consoles. I'm even ok with 30 FPS if that means the lag issue(s) is essentially non-existent now.

DayZ on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S

Thanks for the update. I really hope you folks are able to optimize DayZ for the PS5 (in my case) sometime in the near future. I'd really like to see this game finally run the way it was intended. I'm crossing my fingers there are some appreciable improvements to the performance of the game when I finally get my hands on a PS5 and try it out for the first time.

DayZ on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S

I would temper your expectations so you don't set yourself up for disappointment. The game isn't being optimized for it and as @SillyJoe posted, it appears the gains on XB don't translate to the PS5 at least in that particular scenario. .....keeping in mind there could be other factors involved. Having said that, I'm not particularly discouraged by what i saw in Joe's post as some of these issues a good portion of us experience on PS4 aren't shared by all. There isn't necessarily consistency in the occurrences of some problems, etc. For example, I used to have the horrible issue of lag while driving that would cause crashes so I was forced to drive ~20KPH or risk trashing my car if one of these lag events occurred. .....some lasting up to 15 seconds where everything would freeze. One day, after one of the updates, I discovered that the freezing issue was much better than it ever had been in the past. I was routinely able to drive as fast as I could safely navigate the roads with few incidents. They do still occur but are less frequent and the duration is just a second or less most times. ......with rare events being a little longer. I have no explanation for this other than maybe it might have been the fact that I had upgraded to an external SSD on my PS4 around the same time. My friend who plays with me on the same servers including my private one has the same, old issue of frequent freezes and lag while driving. I was hopeful too that DayZ might play better on the PS5 and I do hope that they (at some point in the near future) try to optimize the game to take advantage of the new hardware. ....but my reason for buying a PS5 is far from just a better experience in DayZ. My only point here is that I would hope for improvements but don't expect a lot. Also, good luck finding a PS5. Everytime they're available here in the U.S. they sell out in less than 5 minutes it seems.

DayZ on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S

Per the official Playstation Blog: How does online multiplayer work with PS4 games when played on a PS5? Whether you’re playing a multiplayer PS4 game on your PS4 or PS5 (via backward compatibility), you will be able to play with other players on either console for the same game. ......so yeah, it looks like you can but when playing with someone who is playing the PS5 version of the same game, it gets a little trickier: If I’m playing a PS4 game, can I play with my friend who is playing the PS5 version of that game, or vice-versa? It is possible to play together depending on the game, though support must be provided by the game’s developer. ......and some more related info: Can PS4 and PS5 players communicate via voice chat? Yes, PS4 and PS5 players (and users of the new PlayStation app for mobile devices) can communicate via voice chat in Parties. Depending on the game, in-game chat will also work across PS4 and PS5 versions of a game. How will game invites work between the PS4 and PS5? Players will be able to send and receive invitations for games that support cross-gen play across the PS4 and PS5. Once the PS5 launches, if you receive an invitation to join a game session, the notification will display which platform the game supports. If a PS5 game does not have a PS4 version available, PS4 players will not receive the invite. https://blog.playstation.com/2020/11/09/ps5-the-ultimate-faq/?fbclid=IwAR0q0WQVsytmR7Ud5yQYa7DMQeBcWIMWWsIdhFBBNrcadqhuzGimAShd5GM

DayZ on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S

I'm wondering if DayZ will benefit from being played on next gen consoles in regard to some of the performance issues including lag. That would be a big step in the right direction. Any plans to release an enhanced version to really take advantage of the horsepower available from the PS5 and XBX?

    Console Update 1.09

These issues are consistent for us on both. Makes no difference so far. Honestly, I can't tell you what the triggers are for some of these issues. Only that these are not necessarily unique to jsut me of a couple others as they have been widely reported. I'm also not dismissing that others may not have to the same problems and/or frequency of them. Again, at one point after an update, I was suddenly able to drive vehicles @ 50kph or above with far fewer incidents of freezes and even some glitches (e.g. car begins to bounce around, flipping in the air, clipping through map, etc.). At the time I had upgraded to the ext SSD and installed DayZ on that but I don't know for sure if that was the reason my performance improved. ....in cars at least. The issue with the stuttering was introduced a couple updates ago. I discovered you could stop or "reset" it by simply tapping the inventory wheel button (R1 IIRC). Unfortunately, this has to be done every 30 seconds or so. This issue is also not unique to just a select few. The persistent problems with the inventory, using the reload button, stuttering, frame rate issues in towns, vehicle lag / glitches, etc. don;t necessarily change based on whether I'm on an official server, someone else's community server or my own.

    Console Update 1.09

PS4 original with the game installed on an external Samsung SSD T5. Some of these issues are not as pronounced for some but worse for others. Servers also seem to be a variable in some cases. The claims are valid but again, not necessarily experienced by all nor at the same level of severity. There's plenty of examples to show that. btw, sometime after an update and switching to an external SSD I had a notable improvement in the driveability of vehicles in DayZ. While lagging and glitching are still problems, they weren't near the issue they were for me before. Previous to that, I often couldn't faster than a running pace without encountering freezes and subsequent wrecks. Noww, I can regularly travel 50+ KPH with a couple stutters here and there. My friend playing on the same server can't. The issues are real and expressed my many.

    Console Update 1.09

@Boroda Thug is right. The problem is that the updates we get don't fix the long standing, fundamental problems with the game (e.g. glitching vehicles, reloads, inventory management issues, etc.). Instead we get new problems introduced by the new updates that then have to be resolved with hotfixes. To make matters worse, the new issues introduced by the updates aren't always resolved so we are then stuck with new problems that persist like the stuttering caused about 3 updates ago. .....the one where you need to quickly open your inventory wheel every 30 seconds or so to make it stop. .....or some of the inventory scrolling issues, items still getting stuck in containers, cars and so on. The team had said that this was the time they were essentially done with add ons and would be concentrating more on performance / QA. The thing is, the way they roll these updates out and hotfixes, it seems they ignore the bigger issues more directly related to console. I used to rent a server which I finally gave up until about an update or two ago but then figured I would rent for a month and see if things had changed. ......they didn't so I let it lapse one more time and now I'm just waiting to see if the PS5 will somehow help with some of these lagging issues at the very least which (hopefully) will make cars more driveable in towns and movement stop stuttering. The problem is, BI doesn't really communicate like they did when they first introduced DayZ to console with their livestream, Q&A, etc. They had a renewed commitment back then but that quickly faded away as they concentrated on new DLC and a physical release when things were still not fixed. Personally, I'd like to see what their plans are for the future regarding these long standing issues that can greatly affect the quality of the gameplay. .....and on the eve of the PS5 release, I'd like to see what the future holds for DayZ going forward (e.g. PS5 enhancements, performance testing and so on). Lots of folks have talked about the struggles of a game like DayZ due to power limitation with consoles so I wonder if they are already looking to optimize for the new generation. It seems to me that this would be a golden opportunity for DayZ to finally get to a much more stable state and become the game that a lot of us know it can. I just hope PS5 doesn't become just another money grab opportunity for a "remaster" like the physical copies and DLC.

    Dedicated Server for DAYZ PS4

Yeah, unfortunately. Obviously the reason they don't introduce solo sessions, etc. It's a money maker for both which is why they are in this partnership with them. .....although I thought a few months back they were switching hosts but maybe that was just their official servers. Either way, for PS4 the only option is a 10 or more server for $13 USD IIRC. I don't know why they don't offer the 4 for $5 (which is what I would use) but I mentioned to their staff once before. ....they said they would consider it. I'm not the type to don the tin foil hat when things don't go my way but I have to wonder if some of the design decisions are sometimes made to try and push people into renting a server. .....a reduction of food / items in the official servers and so on. On my server I customize some of the spawns and tailor some of the other settings to create my own gameplay experience. I wish there was at least a peer to peer and local option for just playing solo or with friends but fat chance of that ever happening.
  12. I logged back into DayZ again and rented a server for a month. I don't know why I might have expected some f hte performance issues to be corrected at this point but low and behold they are actually worse (e.g. micro stutters). Of course, I found a work around by tapping the R1 button briefly it makes the frame rate smooth again. .....but this need to be done every 20 seconds or less. Absolutely ridiculous. I really don't think these developers care. They keep making updates to "enhance" the gameplay by making it more difficult, etc. which if there weren't as many immersion-breaking glitches would be great. .....I dig that kind of stuff. Anyhow, I did notice an abundance of zombies in some areas which again is cool in my book but the glitches make the experience otherwise painful. I also noticed some more aggressiveness but I have yet to see any respawns that seem more frequent than what they were before.
  13. Well, like the title says I found that the major inventory issues like items getting stuck in containers still persist after 1.07. Quite frankly, I'm beginning to wonder what exactly the fixes were targeting as they only say inventory issues introduced by 1.06. The funny thing is, some of the more annoying ones affecting gameplay have been around prior to that. ....so, it appears you still have to be careful not to grab an item from a container (e.g. tent, barrel, chest, car, etc) while you have an item in your hand otherwise it can likely get stuck requiring either a server restart or waiting for one if you're on a public server. I also had a problem with the "no damage" bug after loading a shotgun using the triangle button. I have no other method to do this other than one shell at a time using the combine button. .....unless there is another way? I did notice that inventory menus are a little easier to navigate in certain circumstances but are still clumsy when scrolling through. Also, sometimes you need to cycle through the hands, vicinity, etc. because you are not initially able to scroll down into your backpack, etc. when entering the inventory menu. All in all I've been very unimpressed with the update as most inventory bugs are essentially still the same. .....not to mention the others which really impact gameplay for those of us who experience them. We also got new bugs like the mic turning on when navigating the inventory with the d-pad. Funny thing is, everyone knows these new bugs are expected and BI didn't disappoint in that regard. I know BI refuses to interact with their customers in these forums or even their Support site where we are supposed to report bugs like these. ......but I'm hoping someone from their company at least reviews these so they know what is going on. I really hope they don't think the inventory issues are a thing of the past now with 1.07.

    Nitrado issues

I've had issues with Nitrado in the past but to be honest, they were very responsive to me and actually added quite a few free days to my rental to try and compensate. It was even an issue on BI's side due to problems with them not listing my server for some reason. The issue with the lack of communication could be (in part) due to current circumstances but I would keep trying. All of my exchanges with them were via email IIRC. Either way, I cancelled my server before the update and then rented another just after. Once I saw they were not going to address the new issue with the stuttering (introduced by the update), I quit the game, let my server lapse and called it quits ever since. I'm fed up with the lack of attention to the persistent issues on console and the introduction of new bugs with every update. ....some of which then become persistent, unaddressed issues of their own. I'm just waiting for a day when I see that most of this stuff is finally resolved.

    Dedicated Server for DAYZ PS4

Nope. You need to rent a server from Nitrado currently.

    Still can't light a fire.

In answer to your question, yes. You can use bark as fire starter although I usually just use a rag or paper as that's what I typically have on me most times.

    Reload BK18 without opening inventory?

Yeah, this is why I didn't try after the patch as I found that other issues pre-patch with the inventory, etc. were still a problem. I didn't want to brick my weapon(s). .....so it seems my fears were warranted as the results seem mixed. Even before the patch I could reload magazines with the button and sometimes not have an issue for a while but then suddenly I would. ......but inevitably, it usually happened in my case. I don't believe it ever has when using combine though.
  18. Kean__1

    Reload BK18 without opening inventory?

You can reload using the triangle button although I wouldn't use it to reload any weapons with external magazines as (IME) that can cause glitches with the weapon, etc. I've been lucky enough using the reload button with the SKS, pump action shotgun, dbl barrel shotgun and the single shot BK18. .....but I'm not making any garauntees. 😉
  19. Kean__1

    No zombie or animals

Did your server restart during that time between the change you're noticing? I haven't noticed any lack of Z's on mine. I wouldn't rule out an accident if you've been changing the files
  20. Kean__1

    Money

Well, it's not as though civilizations did not exist outside of the Roman Empire. Not everyone was under their rule / control and yet they had their own laws, governments, economies, currencies, etc. As Max implies, you're describing a structured, controlled economy which simply does not exist in DayZ nor does it make sense in the setting they have created. ......and where it does is only in private servers and only where the owner(s) dictate how it will work (e.g. "1 swine is worth 50 chickens or whatever"). DayZ has no rules, law, structured government, etc. to establish such rules or an economy. Certainly not on public servers. Most times it's kill or be killed and when people do trade, it's based on what each other wants and what they feel the a trade is worth. Now, that doesn't mean some folks aren't able to create their own rules on their own private servers but you're asking BI to add something that would make no sense to most other player if they did. Currency or precious minerals / stones would make no sense in this game and would be worthless loot to most. It would only be used by those who are into RP, etc. on rented servers. That's the point I believe most of are trying to make here and you're missing.
  21. I know you just joined here but believe me, folks have been making their voice heard for months. Just read through the forums here, The Twitter replies, Reddit, etc. I hate to say it but your thread isn't going to change that. Now, as far as grabbing their attention, employees / mods read through these posts. The devs also know all too well the problems many of us have with the game. The good news is that they seem a little more responsive since 1.07 released and future updates are supposed to take aim more on fixes rather than additions. I'm not saying the snails pace is acceptable nor their communication (or lack thereof) but all we can do is continue to report our problems, concerns, etc. but I wouldn't bank on a single thread causing change. Hell, these PS4 forums aren't even that busy to be honest.
  22. Kean__1

    some questions

I've only ever tried to bury crates so good to know. .....I don't play on public servers anymore so I had no need to bury things which is one reason I didn't know much about this.
  23. Kean__1

Frame Rate Issues after Patch 1.10

I've just become used to clicking R1 occasionally but again, I find the stuttering occurs mostly whenever you go into your inventory or that of other items, bodies and containers. I just open the wheel briefly after that to avoid the frame rate drop While annoying, this workaround works like a charm for me.
