......not to mention the fact that zombies still clip through fences, towers, etc. after all these years they have known about the issue and were apparently "working on it".

Are you talking about using a mouse on a PS4 or PS5?

Just here to complain about cars and shovels.
Kean__1 replied to SDS Juggernaut's topic in New Player Discussion
Cars have always been broken for many folks and were never addressed ever since release. I was lucky enough that my issue with them was eased around the time I upgraded to an external SSD. .....I'm assuming that is what helped. In either case, while I can drive without the long freezes for the most part, I still have the bouncing car issue, rubber-banding, etc. My character was killed last month because my olga flipped up in the air going over a curb at under 10KPH. As for the shovel, I agree but it seems they've increased the wear on a lot of items to a degree that is ridiculous on some. I don't get it. I understand the survival aspect and all including gameplay balancing but not to the point where it is so unrealistic. A shovel shouldn't wear out like that. I also don't understand removing the repair ability of duct tape on some items. On stuff like guns I can understand but no I can't even repair my shoes which IRL, duct tape is something you can actually use for such things. ....not pretty but it works in a pinch. As it is, you need to collect dozens of the same tool just to get some parts of a project done. -
Impossible to connect to servers on junior account with parental controls
Kean__1 replied to YuOlivierMdvr's topic in Troubleshooting
This might help: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/support/account/ps4-parental-controls-and-spending-limits/ -
The persistence of just about everything was dramatically increased. I can even tell with items I drop that remain in the game world long after they would have normally despawned. Cool in some ways but bothersome in others. .....but I've tweaked my servers files so the game plays the way we like. I'm just glad it seems the damage on the M3S trucks has been nerfed or suspended as I've been experiencing the "vehicle flipping" glitch far more often after the big update for some reason. I already died once in an Olga because of it but have yet to in an M3S. Collisions also don't seem to affect them which is nice for now. Personally, I think they should take that into account while the bugs still exist. I have no problem from dying due to my own stupidity, the elements, at another players hands, etc., but it really suck dying due to bugs.

This forum is dead and BI is MIA in regards to help around here. I'll try to help you out though.... I looked in the "types" file since I'm currently renting a server and it appears the landmine has a lifetime of 604800 seconds which is 7 days. Now, how or if that changes when next to or under a flag, etc., I don't know. Also, I know the persistence period depends on if the items are interacted with which (as I understand) resets the time again. .....but I don't think landmines are the kind of thing you want to interact with ince set. 😉 Sorry. I know this isn't much help but its what I got.

12/8/20: Vehicle Issues Since the Last Update(s)
Kean__1 replied to Kean__1's topic in Troubleshooting
@lex__1 I feel I just need to point out that I am talking PS4 specifically since we are posting in a PS4 sub-forum but I do like some of your suggestions though and what you bring up applies to both. I like the idea about shelving collision damage and resulting death at least until they fix the cars. Maybe just make it an option on private servers if its not feasible on others. [RANT] ....and yes, I agree about providing feedback. I have tried to reach out and even submitted detailed reports in the Feedback Tracker offering to provide more information, screenshots, video, etc. with zero reply or even an acknowledgement. Folks are willing to help but they don't take it or at least show that we are being listened to (at least in regard to our problems). ....and when folks feel that way they begin to think, what's the point in even bringing it up. I honestly don't feel BI treats their customers like customers should be. I know they read these forums but their interaction is very targeted in what they are willing to address and how they do it. I can't help but feel as if there is an air of privilege that should go along with just being engaged by them here. .....as if we owe them something. Not what I would consider a good consumer experience to be honest. I don't know when they will realize we are still here because DayZ is a unique gameplay experience that we want to improve and we want to be a part of. We just need reciprocity. As of now, I think this will be the last month I will renew my server (I only started renting again after the last update to see if things have improved). I never bought Livonia because of the persistent problems we've had with DayZ and the last hope for me sticking with DayZ is if it runs better on PS5 when I am finally able to get my hands on one. If not, the game is getting uninstalled and shelved again until I see a reason to revisit it. [/RANT] -
For the past few days or so I have noticed an increase in vehicle glitches that include: 1) The long standing bouncing issue including clipping through the map. 2) Stutters and "rubberbanding". 3) Items stuck in inventory. The bouncing issue shouldn't need any introduction. It's been discussed ad nauseum but if needed I can find video clips from others that will illustrate exactly what we are experiencing on my server. This is one issue that has always been a problem but was relatively rare. However, over the last few days after the updates, I have been having it fairly consistently in our sessions. SeI had it happen in an Olga that spun violently in the air as I was driving over a curb at low speed. Unfortunately, it resulted in my characters death. When I finally made it back there my old character was gone but the car was still drivable. ......I lost all my good gear that was on my dead body though. We 've had several instances since then but last night was the worst. I was in a truck and it began to bounce wildly in the air while driving through a town. It eventually clipped below the map and into water. With some manipulation of the controls for around 10 minutes I was able to make the truck work it's way back on top of the road surface where I could turn off the engine and step out. I found a safe spot, logged out, reset the server and logged back in. Everything was "ok" at that point at least to the extent that I could drive the truck out of there. It seems that is the only way to really reset this problem when it occurs and even then, there is no guarantee it won't happen again in the session. I guess the only saving grace is that it seems injuries are disabled for the trucks otherwise I would have likely died just as I easily did in the Olga several days earlier. Again, this is not a new problem but one that seems to have become worse in recent days when before it was much less frequent and quite rare by comparison. Rubberbanding persists where it will suddenly feel as if you're driving in mud and then released. At times, it's much worse and your transported sideways or other directions from your intended course as if the game is out of synch with your inputs. What my friend might see is different than what I do when driving. This also is much worse now than it used to be. As for items being stuck in inventory, I think this is a global thing as I have noticed when looting now, sometimes I can't add things to my inventory using the square button. However, occasionally I am able to equip to hands first (X button) and then use square to get it in my inventory. Inventory irregularities have always been a problem in some form or another and this seems to be a bit of a twist on the old issue. Also, scrolling through the inventory on vehicles and in other instances seems to be worse where you can't scroll down and have to cycle through inventories or scroll up, etc. to get it to work. I thought I was able to capture video last night of the incident with my truck flipping around in the air and clipping through the map but apparently, my settings are screwed up on my PS4. I lost the footage. If I can capture some of these problems and share, I will but I'm really hoping someone at BI will at least acknowledge these problems and give us an idea if they are being worked on. These are things I thought BI was focusing on this year. I really wish the group would be more interactive with their customer base as you were when DayZ was being launched for PS4. I would love to see the studio hold Q&As to answer questions from your fans and address concerns, future plans, etc. It would go a long way to building trust and quelling concerns about issues being ignored, etc. I can't speak for others but I'm willing to help BI get to the bottom of some of these issues I and some other have been experiencing. Let me know what I can do to assist. What do you want to know that you think would be useful in determining the root cause of some of these issues? Tell me and I'll do what I can to help you make this game what we all know it could be. I'm sure many others feel the same way. I'd sure feel a lot better about getting behind BI and this product if we had more communication from the studio and a show of willingness to work together with its community.

I understand but it shouldn't be any different. The language options should be the same regardless if it is a physical or digital copy. Its the same software. It makes no sense for them to exclude other languages in the physical media. There is English, Spanish, French, Chinese and several others available in the option. ....but maybe someone playing from a physical copy can confirm for your peace of mind?
-
Hi Rather, I'm in the U.S. and have the digital version of the game (although I don't think that matters). Spanish is one of several languages available in the menu to select from. When you get to the login screen, simply select "OPTIONS" and the language selection will be the first item in that menu. You should then be able to select Spanish. I think you use the X button to cycle through the different languages IIRC. Hope this helps.

12/8/20: Vehicle Issues Since the Last Update(s)
Kean__1 replied to Kean__1's topic in Troubleshooting
Thanks Lex but yes, I don't mind hearing other experiences on the issues. I understand some don't have the same problems but we also can't dismiss that there are a lot of factors that could be involved here. This is where I hope (wish) BI would better tap into their customer base to gather details that might help determine the root cause of some of these issues. I used to have freezing while driving but after I bought an external SSD, that went away for the most part. Conversely, my friend who plays on my rented server still has the problem and can't drive more then 20 KPH without fear of crashing. On the other hand, I can typically drive as fast as conditions allow. ......I used to be in the same boat as him btw. Both of us are on the original PS4 systems otherwise and these issues persist whether it's just us on my own server or large public servers. -
There has been a magazine bug for a long time that would glitch weapons, etc. when trying to use reload (triangle). For the longest time folks have had to use combine to change mags which is why I would either keep them at the top of my inventory or spares on my item wheel and do it that way. It's funny, but I have playing around with the reload button on a couple weapons since the update and I haven't had an issue. .....yet. However, my friend and I have been experiencing issues related to inventory problems when picking up items occasionally. Sometimes using square won't work. You have to take the item to hands and then use square to put it in your inventory. These little issues have been cropping more so after the hotfix for us. The problem I have always found with BI is that some long standing issues never get fixed (cars for instance) and then new bugs are introduced with the new updates and new mechanics. Shortly after we get a hotfix or two that may address some but not others which then become persistent problems until the next big update several months later. .....or they don't get fixed at all and become problems we live with up to this day. btw, yesterday the cars were glitching relentlessly for us on my server. .....the bouncing glitch which actually cost me my character a week ago. In a game that is permadeath, it's extremely frustrating. In the past, at most you would lose your vehicle. Now, you lose your life. IMO, they shouldn't have made injuries due to a crash a thing until they can fix the cars. .....but back to the OPs point, I thought the broken leg problems were supposed to be addressed in the last the hotfix?

1.10 hot fix? what did they “actually” fix?
Kean__1 replied to saltmcgault's topic in New Player Discussion
Yeah, I understand the need to have such mechanics to make the game more interesting (part of the whole survival game aspect) but there is nothing even remotely realistic about how fast some things wear out. ....and then they take out the ability of duct tape to repair some items which makes it even more frustrating. -
I find it's easier to drop the jacket, pants, backpack, etc. that you have, equip the new one you want and then click on each item within it (using the square button) to send the items to your inventory. Yes, it sucks that it will seem to place items in your various inventory slots willy-nilly but for speed, that's the fastest way I've found. I then later (in a safer place) will reorganize my inventory. What I find helps is organizing my pants, jacket, vest, etc. so that they are full (or near full) so that when I pick up items they mostly go into my backpack. I keep mags and ammo in one, food in the other, essential items, etc. The only other way I know to get thing to go into the slots you want them to is by placing them individually into those spaces. .....but when you're in a hurry, there's really no other way to I know of other than what I described.
-
I haven't experienced this issue either. ......sorry you're having problems. The worst I had after the update was the old issue of freezing after the loading screen when you just begin to appear in-game. ....as the textures are rendering.
-
Thanks Nick. btw, I noticed the random character thing too. Had me worried the first time. I thought I lost my save. Yeah, I didn't expect the graphics would change but I am anticipating a smoother frame rate and less lag / stuttering in the gameplay. I have been watching more videos on PS5 gameplay and while it appears DayZ is currently capped at 30 FPS, there were a couple YT'ers who were showing consistent frame rates with barely any drops more than a 2 or so FPS under that cap. Sure, I'd love the FPS to be uncapped at some point but I'll settle for 30 FPS if it means I don't get the drastic dips I do now from time to time.
-
I'd be happy if the inventory and loot system actually worked properly for once but beyond that, I'm not really seeing a benefit to the PC system vs. console to be honest. ......unless I'm missing something.

Where do I report a player who abuses glitch?
Kean__1 replied to fabian mora's topic in Troubleshooting
He asked how to report it and I gave him a answer. I never claimed this would stop anyone from doing it again. Cheating is typical in some form or fashion in most online games. It's just a fact of life. Where does that leave all of the honest players? You either live with it or find solutions if it's a problem for you that you can't ignore. .....like trying out private servers with players and admins who may be more trustworthy in regard to fair play, vetting their community of players, etc. Personally, I joined a couple private servers in the past with some nice folks before I ended up renting my own for just my friends and I to play on. I rarely join public ones and likely wouldn't play the game at all if I didn't have the option. -
Where do I report a player who abuses glitch?
Kean__1 replied to fabian mora's topic in Troubleshooting
From the Guidelines section: Reporting Hacks / suspected cheaters / exploits etc Please don't post hacking topics on the forum, they achieve no value in solving the issue, do not expedite any action taken against these players and in some cases may give these players the satisfaction/recognition that may motivate them. The posting of exploits, duping and other in-game glitches that can be abused whether by text or video, is strictly forbidden. If you believe you have found evidence of an unknown exploit/hack/cheater or have any other information which may be useful PM a member of the forum team or submit it to the feedback tracker and it will be looked into by dedicated staff. When submitting issues to the feedback tracker, ideally set to Private with Description/Video/Server Info/Steam ID & Hack used) How to use the feedback tracker. I don't know what BI's policy is on naming & shaming in their forums but it's probably not a good idea either way. I'd just report it and let them handle it. -
1.10 hot fix? what did they “actually” fix?
Kean__1 replied to saltmcgault's topic in New Player Discussion
That's good to hear. We had been freezing when loading in after the main update which as I recall was an issue in the past as well until they helped to mitigate the problem. -
1.10 hot fix? what did they “actually” fix?
Kean__1 replied to saltmcgault's topic in New Player Discussion
I actually ran into a new problem where I can't pick up items at times to add to my inventory using the square button. I have to put whatever is in my hands away first, take the item into my hands and then add to my inventory. I'm also having problems (with inventory again) scrolling through some of the screens, etc.. I have to cycle back and forth (R1 & L1) or scroll up vs. down, etc. to look at what i want ot look at. .....and then there are the inventory management issues that have persisted which still plague the game on top of these new problems. The good news in related problems is that I've been testing some magazine fed weapons with the reload button (holding triangle) and it hasn't glitched the weapons yet as it has in the past. The other positive note is that the stuttering problem that was introduced to some by one of the past updates (overridden by briefly opening the quick menu screen (R1)) seems to be fixed. .....for the most part. Before the last update (not hotfix) my friend and I had to tap R1 every 30 seconds or so. -
That's great news @tuco330 . Thanks for sharing.
-
It's funny that you mention that and I know it's going to be a "YMMV" kind of thing, but I was watching a video today where a guy was playing on his PS5 alongside a friend with a PS4. His PS4 friend was reporting lag and you could even see his character stutter but the gameplay for the PS5 player was silky smooth by comparison. Something else worth noting is that when my friend and I play on my server (both PS4s) he experiences lag while driving to the extent where he can only travel around 20KPH most times for fear of freezing and crashing. I used to but no longer do when I bought an external SSD. All other issues with lag in towns, etc. we share though.
-
No problem. I'm hearing mixed experiences from folks. I watched a few videos from some who were having lag / stutter issues and have noted huge improvements with their PS5s in that respect.
-
@supernick So, now that you've had the chance to play around with the game on PS5, what improvements or problems can you share?
