Vehicles could build up torque to go up hills and even burnout
Kean__1 replied to Pauperprince's topic in PS4
NIce..... I got just over 100 before I shut it down. I was approaching the C130 but still had some tarmac left. .....then I thought about how bummed I would be if a big lag spike hit me right at that moment. -
.....or my personal favorite, duct tape. 😉 Yeah, the tweaks to bleeding, sickness, etc. have really made the survival aspect of the game more challenging which normally I would applaud. .....if it weren't for all the negative impacting bugs that already make some of our lives much more difficult in the game than it needs to be. If the inventory issues, mag glitches, no damage bug, freezes, lag spikes with cars, etc. were fixed, I could certainly appreciate things like the difficulty increase of the bleeding mechanic much more than I do now. I think it makes the interaction with zombies more intense now as the risk of dying is certainly higher than it was if you make a mistake.

I've got the exact same SSD as Joe although I'm running on an original PS4. Also, I haven't had any of those crashes since the latest update. I think I had two random blue-screens but that was from before. The only new types of related issues I'm having are the freezes while loading but after shutting down the game and logging back on, the issue didn't reoccur in the same session in both instances. This only happened twice since the update. Either way, these are "BSODs" people have been experiencing since the new update so 1.05 broke something. It also seems to be pretty widespread given what I've seen on social media.

....what's funny is that they post this kind of stupid stuff on Twitter just about every day and then get roasted in the comments. It's really kind of insulting to be honest as the lack of communication is bad enough and then instead of news about things like progress/acknowledgement/status regarding bugs / fixes, we get stuff like this:

Thanks Blade. I just hope for hte sake of those affected that it comes in the form of a hotfix rather than having to wait a month for 1.06.

I actually considered sending them a complaint about it. I love the game but these guys really need a kick in the butt. This is not a title that is ready for full release let alone the talk of a physical copy being sold in stores, paid DLC, etc. For folks like us, we knew what we were getting ourselves into. I was going to pass but bought into their renewed commitment as I mentioned earlier. I still didn't think the game was worth $50 but I had expectations improvements to optimization of the game and remaining bugs would be coming on a steady basis. Instead, we get content updates with bugs of their own and no resolution to the more game-impacting ones that persist. Anyhow, yeah..... I was going to see about complaining to Sony but couldn't see where I could do that.

I need to start rummaging through houses again. Once I get kitted, I usually stop bothering with homes and police stations for the most part but the new weapons that spawn there now, it kind of makes that worth doing any time.

Yeah, tons of folks use the iZurvive app so I decide early on I wasn't going to handicap myself by not taking advantage of it as well. ....I ignore the tourists maps. Once I started using the share feature, it has become invaluable to us when locating party members, cars, storage locations, save spots, etc. So as far as the optics, does that include red dot sights as well? I recall putting batteries in those before and not seeing the reticule.

Hell, I can't even find them on my own server. I'm going to try again tonight.

Just read an article this morning that Sony confirmed a 2020 holiday release for PS5. Unfortunately, upgraded hardware won't fix broken code. 😉 Seriously though, I can also see the PS5 definitely helping in some ways with this game.

They just started a transfer of 24 servers today and it will continue it seems for the next few days. I'm not sure if that could be related to your issue but thought I'd mention it just in case:

Do you mean holding down the button to shift gears or the [shift] key as on PC? -

No problem.... I wish I could have seen what (if any) improvements my SDD would make in performance with this game. In regard to the bulletproof zombies, I died twice because of it unfortunately but I think it's a bug like the one where you can no longer open cans or manipulate magazines (load / unload), etc. A relog fixes it usually but if you happen to in the middle of an attack, you can only switch weapons and hope for the best. Luckily the other times I had been with others so any one of us can cover for those who might be glitching until they get to cover or pull out a weapon that works. Glad you haven't experienced that yet. It sucks when you're alone and out of cover. Even when the PS5 arrives (just confirmed for the holiday season 2020), it may help some of the optimization issues with rendering, etc. but not the bugs or bad code. So am I. I finally broke down about 3 weeks ago and rented my own server for just me and my friends. I have also played on other private servers that were PvP and friendly. I also have a character for the public but haven't played on those since I started renting. We're loving it too. Playing on our server has allowed us to experiment and experience aspects of the game we simply couldn't on public ones due to hoarders / dupers, etc. Now with the bleeding effects being increased, disease, etc., it's made the PvE aspect a little more fun to be honest. I thought it might be a little boring without the PvP but it's actually kind of refreshing to do the co-op / "lone survivor" thing. Certain gear is still not necessarily easy to find either as it's random. ......feast or famine it seems. We have about 4 cars now and play with 2 characters each. .....one for solo and one for friends. Well, actually, my friend just glitched himself into a ravine with his Ada so unless we can pull it out, it's going to a parts car. lol Me too. I hope they get more attention in those areas you mention. I would also love to drive more than 20kph around the map. lol .....btw, I hit over 100kph on the NW airfield the other night. I just had to. -
Vehicles could build up torque to go up hills and even burnout

I didn't either and really bought it for additional storage space. However, after a little research I found that even an ext SDD (a good one) performs much better than the factory HDD in these units. I had forgotten that the PS4 uses the faster USB 3.0 ports. I ended up moving all my games to the SDD and using the HDD as additional space if needed. IN games that I had been playing on the HDD, I had noticed decreases in load times and increases in performance. I had a nasty rendering delay with the textures in the Division 2 that essentially disappeared after transferring the game to the SDD. This little Samsung has been worth it. -
Vehicles could build up torque to go up hills and even burnout
Kean__1 replied to Pauperprince's topic in PS4
I have the original PS4 but I'm running the game from an external Samsung 1TB SSD. It's actually helped with rendering problems I've had with other games but I have only played DayZ from it so I really don't know what differences it makes in this scenario. I have video of that "bouncing" bug where the car wouldn't stop for like 2 minutes. The engine also began to over rev but I was finally able to shut it off. The car eventually settled enough that I was able to get out. After that, everything was back to normal. I like the Olga as well. Seems to be the most capable out of the bunch. I usually drive 20kph at most and a lot slower in towns or near hazards. I've been able to keep several cars for a long time just by doing this as it tends to help mitigate the the chance for collisions during lag spikes. I've also been experimenting with trying to drive from FPP to see if that helps reduce the frequency of those events. They really need to get these bugs and glitches sorted out though. I do still find cars useful but without fixes for these freezes / lag and other things you mention, we will never see their full potential in the game. -

A lot of the physics and mechanics are there already which is nice, but they just need to be tweaked as you said. It would be a hell of a lot better if the freezes / lag didn't exist while driving then I could actually get more of a running start on some of those without the worry of wrecking my vehicles because of a glitch. 😉 ....that and the bug that causes them the wildly flip all over the place from time to time. -
Vehicles could build up torque to go up hills and even burnout

Yeah, especially on paved roads like you mentioned. I get the dirt roads and off-roading on grass, etc., but paved roads should be accessible to all vehicles in the game. Likewise, the Ada should give players the advantage of four wheel drive to be able to get up grades on dirt roads better, better traction off road, etc. As it is, it really provides little additional benefit over the Gunter. The Ada should be the ultimate exploration vehicle in the game. ....IMO. -
I've played a few sessions now since the update but haven't noticed an improvement to frame rate. Mine wasn't ever really bad though and I'm also running the game on an external SSD drive which has helped me with other games in the regard as well. If there was an improvement, maybe I'm just not seeing it because of that? ....but yeah, it's the same horrible lag and freezes once I get behind the wheel. What's funny is that the game hardly lags as badly for passengers as they can usually see what's going on. ....it's just the driver. Make me wonder if the dash HUD or something unique to the drivers is at the root of the problem. I mean, everyone in the car can see exactly what the driver sees in the gameworld otherwise.

The thing is, these bugs occur for people on high pop, low pop, public and private servers, solo, with teams of varying sizes, etc. I started out on the former myself and these problems followed me throughout. This attitude some people have that it doesn't occur for them so "let me downplay everyone else's problems or pretend they don't exist" is ridiculous. Time to use the ignore feature on this forum I guess. I started playing in private servers to see if the issues would stop when they were made available. Again, I joined high pop servers, low pop and even exclusive ones locked with a password. .....no difference. I then rented my own for those times I wanted to play with just a few friends as a PvE experience. Again, no difference although you would think without the added load, some of the problem would clear up. I still maintain a character on the public servers as well as PvP private ones. ....still have the same problems with them all.

This is a problem others have reported after the update. As for whether it's a recognized one in the developers eyes, I have no idea. I would suggest reporting to them via the feedback /"Report a.bug' link. I would just make sure you include as much information as you can. There are some that can hardly join a session for very long without crashing. Either way, I hope they address this for you.
-
Sounds more like the slide on a handgun but yeah, I chuckled the first time I heard it too. Yeah, I feel sorry for those with the crashes. Been hearing more of these instances occurring. Luckily (for me), the only similar issues I've had were when loading in usually within a bldg. As textures are loading in the screen simply freezes. I have to exit out of the game completely and try logging in again. Usually works the 2nd time around.

Vehicles could build up torque to go up hills and even burnout
Kean__1 replied to Pauperprince's topic in PS4
I agree with just about everything you mention although the damage bar may not be feasible given the individual components affected (e.g. radiator, tires, etc.). After a crash it's important to check things out to see what may have been damaged / ruined. .....but that's not why I posted here. I think the biggest problem currently are the screen freezes that cause most of the crashes people experience now. My proposal is that until they actually fix this, they should dial the damage way back on vehicles at least for now. I don't find the cars necessarily too fragile but if all else were working as it should, I agree that it could be toned down. .....but for now, the damage makes it way more difficult than it needs to be for players given the lag / freezes. Nerf the damage or remove it for now at least until those problems are finally addressed. -
What's funny is that they'll go ahead and address the crashes in 1.06 but we'll essentially be back where we started before with the same game-breaking bugs that we've had to live with all this time. ....and then wait and hope that in 1-2 months time those will finally get addressed. They really just need to put the brakes on additional content, physical releases, etc. and throw everything at fixing / creating solutions for everything that is wrong currently. Only then should they resume building on top of that foundation.

@SillyJoe, Sorry, while I got the chance to play a long session last night, it was solo. My friend couldn't make it so I was unable to test the AA on real people. The good news is that I was able to pretty well assess everything else in the new update. .....although unfortunately, the old problems still persist it seems.
-
The problem IMO is that they continue to add content but don't address some of the major issues affecting gameplay like the inventory problems (e.g. items getting stuck in cars, tents, etc.), weapon loading / glitching, weapons becoming suddenly ineffective, lag / freezes while driving, etc. Bugs that are really irritating at best and game breakers at their worst. The things is, these core issues persist as they continue to add more content. Instead of focusing on fixing the problems as they said they would, they continue to build on top of them. ....sometimes introducing more problems as they go. I like the game and I'm glad it came to console but I'm really losing faith in BI's word that they were going to get their stuff together. This game is not release ready IMO and shouldn't have been marketed as such. I took the plunge knowing this since I've been a long time follower of the game. .....but I also bought into BI's renewed commitment. That changed when I heard the announcement of the physical copy release and then the paid DLC. I love the game and want to support it, but I really think BI needs to adjust their priorities. Their focus should be on fixing and optimizing this game first and then adding more content, selling physical copies, DLCs, etc. later. It seems they also make the game more difficult by adding new survival features which I would be perfectly fine with and would welcome. ......if I didn't already have to deal with long standing glitches, some of which have led to my death or the loss of gear / vehicles I spent hours or days searching for, outfitting , etc. They said they delayed 1.05 for console because they wanted to get it "right". ......having a hard time seeing what's right about not addressing the core problems with the game though.
