I admit I initially came here looking for any info I could find on the console update, I though I would stalk the page a couple of days and never use it again. Met some lets just say interesting people, but also had some pretty good discussion about the game with cool people. Ill definitely try to swing by still, offering what knowledge I can and my humble opinion for what that's worth. Good luck everyone, stay safe. P.S. Ill never forget when the one time they dropped a update on a Friday, it failed miserably, and the devs have the weekend off. Rightly so if you ask me. Someone was complaining (surprise!) and I said something to the effect of "they probably use they're weekend off to consume copious amounts of alcohol and drugs from dealing with people like you". Couldn't imagine being a game dev now days, weekends off, its 6 30 and wheres my update, they are people too guys. Human beings, with families and friends, basic human needs, things they want and are interested in. Not a fan of slavery as a American either. Take your weekends off, enjoy them. While I understand not having it done yet, its 6 30, I hope your up and on your way to work. The one thing I will say is this, please get better at shooting straight with us. Never forget "we dont know" is a answer. Most of us are patient, and hooked.

To each their own I suppose. Personally I side with the devs on this one, and judging by this thread Im not alone. At least you PC guys have a wide variety of choices when it comes to DayZ. Hope the standalone adds some of those maps, the island especially. Not holding my breath though.

They definitely could go further, and I think they will and for what it's worth I welcome it. I do hope, and I have a feeling you'll agree, that they smooth out mechanics and game logic for things already in place. I really want to see them add the things we've been missing. Fishing being a huge one, trapping too, this is a survival situation after all. I feel embarrassed about this one, vaulting/mounting objects. Ive seen zombies jump walls a little taller than their heads...... All that being said, and once again I think you'll agree if you were here for this, lots of progress since .63.

Isnt scheduled maintenance for us lowly console folks either Wednesday or Thursday as well? I say this because I think it supports the overwhelming theory of Tuesday. Drop the update, if it tanks the right people will be there in a day or two.

Please don't take this the wrong way, have you considered DayZ (or at least the standalone) isn't for you? Or at least not your everyday play. I have to say as a console player I find most of those features refreshing, I wish Bohemia would give us a Arma for Xbox. Its important to know what your singing up for, and the devs have said realism is what they are going for. In real life you have to load your magazines, you can put them right in your weapon afterwards. Balistic vest are not reusable, one the fibers and ceramic plate are done they're done. So the fact you can repair those at all is a break for us. Its a lot to learn, and can be so tedious at times. I love it just the way it is myself.

I definitely would not invest anymore time or resources into that myself given the circumstances. I too have been in a weird place gaming wise, there's this game and I think we all know about that. Im also a huge fan of war thunder, dont know if you've heard of it, but the last update for that made things not work right. If you have a DayZ itch that you've just got to scratch I would suggest trying things you haven't, tinker with guns you dont use and attachments for them. Go hunting/gathering/trapping, maybe a little gardening, wish they would hurry up and add fishing. Check out areas you've never gone. You can try to find some PvP, but in its current state take it with a grain of salt. It sucks I know, lets face it a actual zombie apocalypse would to. You'd probably do something really hard for little to no gain every other week.

Not trying to belittle you and your friends efforts, but it is in the end just stuff. You can get all of it back, and maybe you'll find better methods or spots in having to start over. Every full wipe up until now made me a little sour towards devs as well, but we really do need this one bro. Dupers who probably didn't even experience the hardships of .63, have ruined the legitimacy of the game and have outright caused the game to regress in performance. On a high note, besides us finally getting the stable version of the game, I would like to think wipes will be different from here on out.

I second the use of this. Just a side note, you get a in depth explanation of not only everything currently in the game but the things the devs intend to do in the future. Some things, fishing being a example of the top of my head, unfortunately aren't in the game YET.

I learned a rather useful one myself not to long ago, been playing since 3 days after release on Xbox. If you have something to skin a animal you've just killed (knives, machete, for this hunting knife is best. Yes it matters, use what you've got though) you can cook it. Skin/gut your animal (you can eat fat as is, no prep necessary. You wont get sick. Make it last.), cut down 2 bushes (berries are a thing now so keep your eyes peeled) sharpen one stick for cooking and make a fireplace (its small, and you need paper/cloth), combine the rest of your sticks and get some tree bark for fuel. Obviously matches are needed, a flare will do. There are definitely quicker, more efficient and tactically sound ways to cook your food, but it works if your in a jam. One last thing on the importance of proper tools, it matters with canned food as well. You waste a little if your using the wrong thing. Wich is fair. Have you ever tried to open canned peaches with a crowbar in real life? If anything specific comes up feel free to ask. Weapons and medicine are interests of mine. Happy to help.

There's always going to be ups and downs with video games, I myself am a console player (Xbox) who started playing the game 3 days after release for my respective platform, and Ive definitely come to expect it and can even to a degree see it coming. Ive taken my fair share of breaks, longest one being 3 months after the game seemed to be stablizing and some straight bs happened to me. My point I guess is I came back, other people will as well when this is all sorted out. Lets face it, the update situation is really frustrating but come on guys, its DayZ! Fool me once shame on you, fool me 100 times and I don't even know what to say anymore. The second the date for the update got sketchy we should have known it would get here when its here. As for the current state of the game for us lowly console folks, not really the devs fault. Kill, raid, or otherwise destroy every duper you see until the update is released if you want to vent your frustrations at the root of the problem.

I often thought the same thing. What's even more frustrating is Ive seen a zombie jump a wall that was slightly taller than its head. I hope it eventually gets added.

The first post I stumbled across was essentially two *removed* debating the English language, all I wanted was the information you so kindly laid out in plain English right upfront.

I was hoping to find information about the upcoming update for Xbox, heard a unverified claim today that it would not be coming this week even. Instead Ive spent about 20 min watching two *removed* debate language. New to the site as well. Please tell me this is more useful at least some of the time.
