    How bad is this!!!

You can eat more calories even if the apple icon for hunger is "full," as long as your stomach is not. I have run around with a full hunger apple icon for sometimes 4+ hours before it shows a decline. [ So that's not an actual problem at all and is simply a factor of your play-style / decision making / perception. ] My dude, the mod, prior to the stand-alone version of the game, helped establish and fortify the entire genre of survival games. The notion that it was lazily pieced together and labelled as a survival game is, at best, foolish opinion, without factual support. The hunger system has been meticulously crafted from scratch (stand-alone version) and further balanced over years worth of experimental branch testing. [ My only gripe about the hunger system is that I wish it took longer to die from starvation and that your character could hobble around super-weak--the yellow and red states of health--and be far more vulnerable to infected, predators, and KoS folk, whom they cannot out-run! ]

Indeed, the situation, I'm sure, matters.

    Bear Overhaul Qol

Duuuude, solid input. Your points. My thoughts. 1. Very intelligent assessment. This can easily be done. 2. Bears can charge from over two hundred yards away if you are in an open field, for example, when they detect you IRL; chances are they have seen you or smelled you first! 3. The skull of a grizzly (brown bear) can be up to four inches thick! Head-shots are a WASTE on this apex predator. IRL, you shoot for the heart/lungs or the shoulder to immobilize it. It is common for lower caliber bullets to get stuck in their layers of fat and actually never hit muscle or organs (I'm looking in the direction of the .22 LR and the 9x19mm camps). However, I particularly like the idea of the animal loosing blood and dying later. That is highly realistic, and should be applied for all game if shooting with high-caliber rounds. 4. That mechanic is brutal to witness, it can dull the immersion. Watching infected sprint back and forth around a door instead of pouring into it is lame. 5. Yess!!! 6. The fake charge is not something that I know to be a bear behavior. I'm just not sure about it/haven't heard much. However, to intimidate, they will stand on their hind legs making themselves appear larger. I haven't seen enough bear behavior in game to know if they stand like that or not. 7. as it relates to 8. Awesome idea. 9. This is an excellent suggestion. Highly realistic. Incredible, true fact about Brown bears (not Black): Eye contact is a form of challenge and an extremely aggressive behavior that displays dominance among Grizzly bears. When the biggest baddest mo-fo shows up, every other bear knows it and they all look away super nonchalant. This could be an incredible game mechanic based on real life experiences that are documented by professionals. If you see one, you should be able to stop and look away ( but not turn your back or run ) to not challenge it. If it continues to advance, the player could crouch to make themselves smaller and less threatening. And sometimes (more often than not, IMO) the bear should spare you if you use this strategy. Otherwise, get that bear spray ready, haha! And yes this really works in real life -- it's one of the ways they communicate with each other in social situations!

    Can Someone help.

If not kept in a container, items have varying despawn times when dropped on the ground. Items that are kept in a container (barrel, hard case, buried dry bag, or crate) will have a lifetime of 45 days. To reset the timer, just interact with the object. This could be as simple as unbury then bury the item, open and close the lid to a barrel, or just by adding or removing an item in storage.

    No ADS sensitivity setting?

    Yes, we need this badly.
  6. First, I'm going to say something that might sound annoying: learn from each death. It should teach you how to avoid that situation a second time at the very least, even if insight seems lost. Sorry for your frustrations, but DayZ was intentionally made without a tutorial (some will use the term old school game to describe it) by the developers. It invokes an organic discovery mechanic for the curious or those that tinker. If you're not that type, I've learned many tricks and game mechanics from conversing with other friendly survivors in the game itself! That's a whole 'nother can 'o worms though, since there are more than a handful of players ready to kill anything uninfected instantly. I've died many times, not as much as some of the OGs out there from the mod, but enough to say, hang in there. It gets better. There will come a certain sense of accomplishment as you climb the ladder of complexities in the game. Put an item in your hands and try to combine with any other item on the floor or in your inventory. You seem practical and resourceful. That is handy in a survival situation, which is what this game currently simulates much better than any other out there... imo Most important tool: knife [ cut bark, cut bush, kill chicken, craft fishing pole, craft fireplace ] Rain is a bitch early on. Night is really dark, almost too dark. Turning on a light is going to carry both risk and reward. Good luck dude! And play first person perspective hardcore servers only. Unless of course you don't mind seeing, and consequently, being seen from unrealistic angles.

    Apartment buildings.

Ya found a tent because someone set it up a long time ago 😄 I do not believe they spawn up in there.

New player, a few different queries.

I always hot bar mags from the days of gun mag glitching and ghost bullets. That way you can run and reload simultaneously.

New player, a few different queries.

1&2 not a clue! sorry #3: I cannot confirm this officially, but I have noticed no difference between using tape vs. the gun kit for repairs. I am also going to assume that your character's soft skills could possibly affect the quality of the repair; especially when you use the right tool for the job. (Soft skills refers to the slider above your stamina bar with the needle and hammer when you open inventory.) #4: Headshots provide a multiplier to damage and shock incurred. Longer distances will diminish the amount of damage. Headshots with any gun, inside 25m, against an un-armored player, will be lethal. Pistol calibers may not kill a player with a ballistic helmet (blue NATO), or an assault helmet (green with visor attachment), however, if shot at close range may render them unconscious. The two aforementioned head armors are the only two that provide any decent protection for your skull, but will not protect against a high-powered round (.308 + 7.62x54mmR). That Tundra you've found is probably my 2nd favorite gun. It is so reliable, packs a punch, and the attachable scope provides excellent magnification (tip: lay prone if shooting out to distances of 200m or longer). My longest confirmed Player kill (he/she was not wearing armor) with the Tundra is at 326m, Infected at just over 600m. I've hit armored players at 30m with the Tundra and they survived, no knock out, but the plate carrier gets trashed after one .308 round. #5: The bigger the caliber you use, the longer the distance the sound will travel. It has been officially confirmed that high-powered rounds can be heard 3.5km away. Shooting suppressed can decrease this distance to less than 1km for certain weapons. If you are shooting that Tundra without a bottle suppressor, it is almost a guarantee that one-quarter of the map will hear you. The more shots you fire, the better other players will be able to locate where they originated. Without a suppressor, pistols are probably audible out to about 1km, rifles somewhere between that 3.5km max, and possibly 2km. (The last sentence is an estimate, and can potentially be incorrect information.) All this information is based on my personal experience in Offical Hardcore server (1pp Vanilla), no mods.

    Ghosts are recruiting.

Every time I see somebody wearing that skull mask, my brain instantly thinks, "COD douche." I always shoot'em. Sorry this just made me laugh, have fun.

    Fire Barrel Won't stay lit.

That is a predicament indeed! Maybe there really is water in there. Take any empty container that holds water into your hands. Open barrel lid. There should be an option to "drain" if there is any water inside. Could just be a weird bug though...

    8 direction analog stick controls

I must agree, the current console settings for aim sensitivity leave MUCH to be desired. The gun sway makes me feel like my character is a 6 year-old holding a firearm for the first time, not some hardened, adult survivor. Sure, holding your breath helps stability, but the Dev. Team really buffed the sway in the current update, from the previous iteration. Super point brought up here by a couple folks: Gun sway could be reduced as the character is more successful and experienced with weapons. For example, after 3 successful animal hunts, one or two PvP kills, and hosing down an entire city full of zombies, well, now your character has a slightly improved, noticeable reduction in gun sway. Also, an increase to gun sway immediately after sprinting could make the game more realistic, and as your stamina regenerates, the gun sway levels-off to normal base-line. If you get shot in the leg, I'd like to see that my character limps and has reduced movement speed. If you get shot in the arm, your aim should be severely reduced, unless of course (hopefully in the future) your character is very strong and has the skills meter mostly tipping toward the hammer. The skills meter can have SO MANY game mechanic applications it's mind-numbing. After being shot in the arm, the time to bring your gun sway back to normal could be similar to the blood refill time, essentially allowing the wound and tissues to heal.

What's the best weapon to hunt with?

All the animals discussed in this thread can be downed with one bullet if you aim for their heart and lungs. I have been successful with these calibers with one shot: 7.62x39mm / .308 WIN / 7.62x54mmR. @-Gews- was kind enough to post an illustration of the kill zone. Use the front dots (left, in the picture) as a reference. Imagine the torso as having a top third, a middle third, and a bottom third. Aim for the bottom third, below the shoulder of the animal, again, using the red dots as a reference.

    Vanilla Base Raiding Balance

I made a base in a castle. I built 6 gates for protection, one in front of the other, and nothing else. I figured most players wouldn't have the patience to wait it out while raiding. It only takes 10 to 12 minutes to break in with a couple axes and a sharpening stone. Assessment: To build one complete gate: less than 60 seconds when all supplies are on hand. To destroy one section of gate: approximately 56-60 seconds. + In order to get under the lower section and to the other side, both the framing and the outer wall must be destroyed, which equals 2 "sections," so that would be just less than 2 minutes of raiding to breach 1 gate. How long did it take me to find nails and tools, saw planks, haul 4 barrels, craft two crates, and establish a small food/water stash just to have more freedom in actually playing instead of surviving? About 18 to 24 times the length of time it took to break in and ruin everything I created; and the crew was nice enough to despawn most items in storage except a fireplace. I'm not salty, I enjoy every minute of this game. Could it be more balanced? Yes. Conclusion: increase the current time to destroy one section of wall or gate by a factor of 2-4. Please.

    The State of DayZ PVP

It's not the content that encourages this type of behavior. It's not the structure of the loot economy that promotes this behavior. You are experiencing the darkest side of human nature in a situation where rules have been lifted, and any semblance of law is completely removed. Now, introduce a sense of value to the items found therein, and it accelerates this behavior. Today, I was near a great vantage point, heard a rooster far off, and quickly located a survivor running the roads in a nearby town. I kept my distance to over 200m, and watched through my scope from the hillside. The survivor had a Mosin, a splitting axe, bike helmet, mountain backpack, really, a very average setup. I had food, I had water, there was no need to trade, so, I watched. They ran through town, stayed quiet, and killed zombies with their axe; Clearly, not looking to garner any attention. I let them run off and away into the next town. While I watched through my scope, I let he or she fight their own fights with the infected, not giving away my position. I was ready to give this survivor some sniper support for whatever situation they got in, or kill them if they decided to engage in some unsavory behavior or backstabbing. If you don't want to be KoS, the only rule is: pay attention and stay alert. If you don't get spotted first, your chances of survival dramatically increase. Be aware of the angles, the vantage points, the roof tops, all the ways you are exposed to danger. Use cover properly. Look around you and behind you often. Cover your trail by leaving things the way you find them. That means closing doors you open, picking up after yourself, burying infected corpses, disposing of items in lakes or other hard to spot areas, and learning spawn points in houses, all of which will make you harder to track.

    Moving Bodies.

This needs to be added into the game!
  19. I bury guns. They are literal DayZ currency. Just like batteries and NVG, to some extent. Every now and then, you might run into a situation when you can trade with another survivor. Sometimes shit gets found by the lucky few, and sometimes by treasure hunters! I've had two LARs dug up and stolen since last June. If I have two of something, I use it. Buried caches of food let me live out in the woods without going into cities when I don't want to. It's a very cool mechanic, but of course, some players will go overboard with the looting and the hoarding. In my opinion, having a stash doesn't make you a hoarder if the items have a purpose and are commonly used. It also allows your survival strategy to be fluid if you have more than one location. Having a weapon cap makes the game more realistic. It opens up the door for the survivors to dictate what the value of items will be and how to better leverage your trading. Barter cars for guns! Ammo could be more scarce to significantly increase its value. If I washed up on the beach with barely anything but some rags and a piece of fruit, upon acquiring anything more than that, each item would feel like a major victory. Many people seem entitled to having all the loot they desire, but deep inside we all know that's not how a scenario such as this would play out. Manage your gear, measure every risk, know when to quit, make the most of each situation, and never give up the fight! (I'm looking at you battle-loggers.)

    Niggles and down Right Crazy

I just got my dude geared with matching Gorka pants+jacket in addition to NBC hood. Rain jacket is decent, but seems to lack insulation. Need jungle boots! Going to test against the heavy rain soon. A cooked piece of fat in each, pants and shirt, will do you wonders for prolonged activity in the rain before hypothermia sets in!! Firefighter gear gives good protection from rain, I hear. But... I don't use it. OP, you should have planted those seeds for food, it's supposed to grow quickly. I once died during the night waiting for a greenhouse garden to grow peppers as a fresh spawn. I was so lucky to find a shovel! Without warm clothes, the cold nighttime temperature made my hunger drain twice as fast. I didn't get to see the sun come up. I've also perished once from the same predicament of no food in houses and no food from 30+ killed infected. I searched two towns, a city, and Tisy military base. Shit gets picked clean sometimes my man, it's an apocalypse. These types of shit-hits-the-fan situations are cruel and unforgiving. Stay prepared! I like hunting caribou, cooking, and running around in forests. I often stay out of cities. Right now, my character is on the run, a base got raided. Gotta scramble! Good luck, and remember: each death will make you smarter and more resilient. Failure is a lesson.
  21. You want to add an object, which has mass, to another object, which has mass, and want the resulting total mass of both objects together to feel more nimble, more maneuverable, and, for lack of a better term, "lighter" than before the addition was made? What logic is this?

    Night time brightness xbox

Well that is whack about the 1pp and 3pp nights. It felt like something was different with the lighting, but I couldn't pin it. How about sticking to a cohesive vision (no pun intended) instead of catering to nonsensical whining, then dancing at the beckon of the entitled? I just want the game to be sim. As intended. Hopes for the future of DayZ mildly shaken at the thought of what is being considered important in the development agenda. I can't believe the "It's too dark at night" idiots actually won. Without light pollution, nights without a more than half-full moon can be really dark, especially in the forest, and even more so when there are stormy skies. At this current juncture, lighting at night is not immersive. I play on 1pp server and the nights are like some bad cartoon.
  23. It's going to happen. I can feel it!
  24. Official US Server 2392 has not been on the list since yesterday 02.21.2020, and remains inaccessible. I was disconnected several times, perhaps once or twice every hour, for three straight hours, prior to it disappearing off the list. Help a brother out BI!
