No in-game guide spoils part of the game
EzyStriderPS4 replied to justonce01's topic in General Discussion
That is the beauty of DayZ! I have had to experiment with item combinations, use my imagination, and best of all, I have learned many things from other survivors. If I had just shot those people mindlessly without remorse, I never would have gained their wisdom. I would argue that it is quite the opposite of bad game design. You said that this design “flaw” strips you of the experience of discovering it for yourself which seems, at best, illogical. In fact, you negate your very argument with such rationale. Use your brain, not Google.- 1 reply

Why are the shovels so brittle now? It’s ridiculous that after 5-6 uses that it becomes damaged. This hurts immersion and could be more realistic. In Soviet Russia, shovel is made well and lasts a long time because your family can only afford one. Why can’t shoes last longer? I’m always repairing my shoes 2 or 3 times per hour. This also hurts immersion imo. Some of these changes are carelessly applied, it seems. The food thing was strange at first, as if they hit the reset button completely, but I believe that change is for the best.

Experimental Update 1.10 (Changelog)
EzyStriderPS4 replied to ImpulZ's topic in PC Experimental Updates
Awesome update !! @ImpulZ Thank you !!! QUESTION REGARDING: "Adjusted the default comfort temperature of the player character (now 28 degrees Celsius)" Why is the player comfortable at an equivalent temperature of 82F ? Will this make it more challenging in-game to get warm, as far as clothing choices or lighting a fire when compared to v1.09? Personally, I think this value is WAY too high. Most people will prefer a room temperature of about 70 - 75F (IRL)... which is equivalent to 21 - 24C. 28C is uncomfortably warm (for me). Again, I don't know how this balances with clothing insulation values and formulae used in-game; it just seems really hot rather than comfortable. -
1 Hour is correct. All things on the body will despawn, including the weapon/tool in your hands at the time of death.

Infected could really use some polish. Imagine being tackled by one and having to fight them off you? Their attacks are very bland in nature and they still clip through player models at times. I dream of the day when an actual kill animation will be present. It has to be situationally fluid and not unnecessarily theatrical. Axes embedding themselves into a skull, a knife through the eye, head severed by machete or sword, a slice of the throat from behind with silence and extreme prejudice...

For a long time I would have agreed with you, but recently, I've come to think that with humans being absent for "X" amount of time, many wildlife populations would increase as a result of diminished threat levels and non-existent general human activity. Quiet roads, few planes and helicopters, would lead to natural reclamation of the land. In some cases, populations could possibly boom if given the right environment, which is apparently the Tisy forests! Just a thought, what do you think? Still a dumb game mechanic? Probably too frequent, but possible in this alternate world of DayZ. I'm not arguing, just interested in perspectives and good conversations. @JVLFC1 / @aux7

@BARB4 : Didn't realize you got totally shafted by a group you don't even socialize with! I feel ya man, a former comrade of mine got his base posted to Reddit because we sniped some nosey survivors in Novo. Needless to say, the next two weeks were mayhem on the server! Starcraft I'm assuming. The Zergs were always the best rush-attack-oriented race.

It's so annoying after they get damaged. I can't even stroll the town without reaching for the duct tape. From worn to damaged in less than 2 km. Help a brother out! Instead of wear/degradation per step being ~0.33, please adjust the value for Vanilla servers to approximately 0.12. Thanks guys! Keep up the great work!

I'd just rather have one pair of boots last me one session, brosef.

Time for a new controller! :(

Sometimes the AK weapons will spawn with it attached. That's how I found the last two up at NWAF.

I am just comparing statistics. What I said was rational. I was not being sarcastic, nor do I intend to devalue anything you have said. I was hoping to be encouraging... I am against stashes degrading over time. The alternative to underground stashes is tents and bases. I don't want either one. You have to try to understand and respect my hermit in the woods play-style. I have seen what you are talking about, because I play on only one server. It goes through cycles. In my opinion, the C.E. is working properly. This game is extremely dynamic and socially complicated. I really enjoy it.

You found 1 KA-M in about 175 hours. If I had to approximate, I've played 2,100 hours. In that time, I've found 16 top-tier guns, like KAs, M4s, VSS, LAR, et cetera. That translates to 1 every 131 hours. I'm only doing somewhat better than you in this category of DayZ. Keep at it, bud.

"...Not a game, not a game ...we talking 'bout practice." --A.I. Your original post came off as extra salty and tediously whiny. I apologize for possibly offending you because I despised the entitled, defeatist tone you took. I am willing to admit that I was wrong. Sorry. However, trophies (a.k.a. your precious guns) are won through hard work, determination, and sound strategy. They are not just handed out. There are solutions for the "problems" you are having--some of which you admittedly listed--but apparently they don't appeal to you because of the effort you have to undertake. I believe and support the idea that the C.E. ( @Parazight , hahaha!! ...and thanks for correcting me, seriously. ) is intentionally balanced this way so that rare guns hold a true value to other survivors. There's no money in this game! That shit is worthless when Infected roam cities freely, there's nobody behind the counter at the local supermarket, and the government has abandoned the region. Trading with other survivors becomes important to the mission at hand if you are not self-sufficient enough. There are strategies for this also. Which brings me back to what I was saying: It's a bloody apocalypse, put on your big boy shoes and get tough.

@aux7 You da man! Thank you for your time.

Great idea, yet it seems boring and tedious to implement as a mechanic. Many players might quit. Permanent hearing loss is realistic, but would be awful. Again, I support this, but it would detract from the game in my opinion. Maybe soften the ringing to be temporary and not 100% hearing loss in-game? Each time you shoot, it could create a stacking effect. It's hard to implement this as a game mechanic without changing so much. Think about inventory and existing equipment spaces. From a dev standpoint, it sounds nice but won't fit. How about a nice bow with arrows instead of ear plugs in the next update?

Think you will ever get to use all of them? I still have an M4-A1 from early 2019. Recently, I've been obsessed with the KA-74, I just found my third one in two years playing the game, and it is currently the only one I have. I'm going to rock that until I drop.

3 VSS, 4 VSD, 4 LAR ( counts against Maximum if carried by player, buried, or spawned on map ) 5 KA-101 ( counts against Maximum if buried or spawned on map ) 10 KA-74, KA-M, M4-A1 ( counts against Maximum if buried or spawned on map ) 15 USG-45 ( counts against Maximum if buried or spawned on map ) Everything else is uncapped. These values are from 1.04. I am unsure of the values that apply to the Vaiga. Some of the listed values may have been altered. Would anyone with access please provide the community with updated xml file values? Many thanks in advance!!

Boo f#¢&!+$ Hoo. Hoarding is bad, real lame, but having a stash to stay prepared is vital. I'm talking about a sea chest with canned goods and some chlorine tablets. I don't want to build a base. I like to hang out in the woods. Many players on PS4 are despawning, automated half-wits, no matter how modest your cache may be. They just like to be griefers. You can't keep anything above ground. I have 8 guns buried, but those are as good a currency as you will find in DayZ. They are vital for trading, or has the pc crowd been spoiled by greed-fueled NPC trader mechanics? Don't be a fool. This is a bloody apocalypse man! Get your shit together.

All of you that "enjoy" stamina-off gameplay will never know the joyous preparation that goes into packing your backpack with all the heavier-but-unnecessary-in-a-gunfight loot so you can drop it at a moment's notice, and have 70% stamina available even though you are wearing a plate carrier. Cars obey only the rules of quantum physics!

I see it as more of a psychological element that changes your character, rather than a physical agent which takes time to develop. To me it's very different than getting "sick" from bacteria or the cold weather. Just my opinion. P.S. @Sgt 45 bravo 246br : There is waayyyy more chlorine than you will ever need in the game. @Tonyeh is right, make sure your hands are clean. I have never gotten sick from water out of the well. Either that, or your contagious friend is giving you the illness at a time that seems synonymous with drinking at the well.

Best advice: practice with the gun you have. This will help you be decisive when the time calls for staying sharp under stress. Do some infected target practice. Remember: don't kite them, and keep it honest. You will soon discover that movement is life. Take enough time to line up your shot properly. Be fast, but remember that sometimes fast is slow too. Keep conscious of your ammo count. Take careful note of the advantages and disadvantages of each weapon and optic to use your environment wisely. Oftentimes, someone else got there first. Other players' activity has to be accounted for and included in your expectations. Regulars on servers will keep guns as currency or as trophies. It can get out of hand as it does in the real world. Each server generally has a different player-base with their own priorities. On the server I play on, I find an Assault Rifle at inland military locations 5% or less of the time I have made an effort to search. That's less than 1 out of 20 missions, which consist of going to more than one military location. SEARCH EVERYWHERE IN THAT LOCATION! Players who stash weapons in bases or underground stashes affect the spawns of the high-tier ARs. Oftentimes, the number of guns on a server (all areas of it) is less than the numbers I will discuss, and will climb over time (every half hour to a couple or so) until reaching these amounts: 3 VSS / 4 LAR and VSD / 5 KA-101 / 10 KA-M, M4-A1, KA-74 Once one of these values is reached for a particular gun, a new one of that type will not spawn. Which means you will have to go treasure hunting with a shovel, or gets some friends and raid a base! (The first three guns are also affected by players who are carrying them!) Helicopter crash sites give you a good chance to find nice weaponry. I've found an AR about 1 out of 3 times I am lucky enough to find a crash site in the last two years of playing. Be persistent and patient @Agrivo ! But if that doesn't work, buy Livonia DLC, go to a persistence off server, and you will be instantly "wealthy," as you might measure, if you survive of course...
