I am in Tisy m.b. as a gas bomb blows up directly overhead! I bolt out of there. No illness, so I make my way around the death cloud to the next set of structures. Then I hear what I believe to be something completely outlandish being played over the loudspeakers! This got me both excited and stressed as I checked the area for a crew or some kind of activity. Nothing. I’ve left Tisy, traveling South. I see a beacon of blue light which piques my curiosity. It’s a crashed sleigh. I wasn’t aware that Santa made clones of himself. Must be how everything gets done in one night. I hear the same outlandish audio coming from the North. Now I realize what has transpired. Disillusioned but not stupefied, I sprint to Santa’s clones because I want that FAL! As I approach, my heart begins to race; I’ve spotted a slain buck near the sleigh. Strange spot for a hunt, but stranger things have happened in DayZ. Must be a suppressed shooter nearby! Tricked again. After more investigation: it’s a dynamic spawn from the crash. Yay! There’s unopened presents. I savagely rip them open because no one is coming here to make sure they reach their intended destination. Instead of sweaters and toys, I find grenades and mines and ammunition. I remember dreaming of those things for Christmas as a kid. No FAL. Damn you, clones. A truly immersive experience. Replacing helicopter crashes with holiday nonsense was time well spent in development. In conclusion, %#$!?@#+$!%!...?..?

My experience with VehicleZ (excluding when I was a passenger) sample=about 8 Volga, 2 Gunther, 5 ADA internet=200+ Mb server=vanilla official / 6-30 pop 33% Shot At or Killed by survivors (overlaps with other categories) 20% Lag Teleport to undriveable position, nothing wrong with engine 33% Lag Freeze warps vehicle movement causing a wreck 20% Dice Roll / Bouncing without wreck or death (overlaps with other categories) ~7% Dice Roll / Bouncing with wreck ~7% Straight GTA’d when I got out and left it running, back when you still could 27% Stolen while offline or in a different location ~7% Solid Performance (reckless speeding resulted in wreck, vehicle was Olga) 00% Death from Lag / Dice Roll 100% Minor to Major Lag / Loading In my experience, driving in DayZ will result in some sort of car trouble more than half the time, and the rest of the time you’re getting shot at or waiting for someone to steal it.

It’s one million clone Santas sent to South Zagoria by a psychologically ill super villain whom has clearly subjugated the infected in the part of the world he or she is from. The craftsmanship on the sleigh is worth remark, as the runners look undamaged after crash landing. I suspect a sophisticated propulsion system with evident landing capability and an audio device in the burlap bag which plays the villain’s unhinged message. -

Are the toxic areas like rify and Pavlovo m.b. considered Tier 4 or Dynamic Event? I’m reading it right now as NVG being strictly a heli spawn. The “count_in_player” flagged as “1” is a poor way to make an item rare. Once five or more people have NVGs, they are no longer available. Not very equitable. A better way to increase rarity and still maintain fairness would be to make it a Tier 4 item, min=1, max=1-2, restock=7200-14400 (2-4 hrs).

The hit marker adds clutter to the screen, and I don’t like that it is red; that color should be reserved for a bleed. The hit marker should simply be the shock vignette because it is indicating pain. It should only indicate front, back, or sides (the four edges of the screen). It could turn red when you suffer a cut/wound. In my mind, anything more than that, is greatly pushing the sim aspect of DayZ away from hardcore, to essentially CoD. An example: You are not wearing armor and you get shot in the center of your back from your 4 o’clock. You would feel pain in your back. There is no way to tell the angle of entry in any realistic scenario, unless perhaps you are an elite-trained fighter and are sensitive to the inertia you experienced at impact, which you are not. With the hit marker, you know the shooter is 120 degrees to your right, and remove the possibility that the shot was from between 160-200 degrees (behind). Furthermore, the issue with suppressed shots is a no-brainer... yet, somehow, here we are. Can we do away with it completely in 1.16? Yes, everything was fine before.

Exactly, food is overly abundant. I thought this was shtf... Also, too many guns. You lose that sense of accomplishment when the loot is remarkably common. -
@lemmac My camel, the shock I feel is overdone. It was better before they changed it a few versions ago. The infected used to slaughter you without reprieve, now it’s lame.

To make sure you are drinking clean water, boil it, get it from a well, or use chlorine tablets. It makes no sense to use alcoholic tincture or disinfecting spray to “clean” water, that shit would make you incredibly sick, the tincture could blind you. (Real world applications in SHTF scenario.) -
Yes, this is intended. The devs changed these values in 1.15.

I may be mistaken, but on 3pp servers the hit marker, which is just awful, is present. But, I don’t recall seeing it in 1pp server... I will double check this. edit: it is on 1pp! How unfortunate. Ever been cut and not feel it because your adrenaline was pumping during that fight-or-flight moment? It’s a nice idea, but I disagree with a visual effect in the HUD. Just look down at your body, it shows blood spilling out. -
If you look down at your body, you can see blood spraying out of you. This is enough for me. My eyes don’t fill with blood when my foot is bleeding.

Since the community is so split on this... Here is a possible solution to the serious issue the hit marker creates: use the shock vignette that is already there, tweak it slightly, and remove that nonsensical red splatter. The tweak: slightly reduce shock vignette edges (so that it is thinner) in all areas except the direction from where you were hit. Imagine the face of a clock, and the thicker portion (from where you were shot) would account for “3 hours” space. Even then, this is highly unrealistic. For example—the shooter is at your 4 o’clock but hits you in the back, you would feel that you were shot from behind, but actually the shooter was more to your right than behind you. The hit marker ruins this “shot from an angle” realism. At least with the change I propose, the location of the shooter would not be given away exactly but more generally, and panic/stress of the player getting shot may not notice the subtlety of the vignette. The vignette should NOT rotate if the player turns. TO BE CLEAR: I have no problem with the current state of this mechanic in 1.14. It does not need to be changed to include a hit marker. I rely on the sound origin of the shot. It’s more than enough to figure it out. “But what if it’s a suppressed shot, waaah?” Take cover you idiot. Am I the only console player that enjoys the hardcore aspects of DayZ? -
What better way to hide a vehicle?

I have several parking spots. If I’m lucky to possess a vehicle, every few days, I will try to move it to the next spot. If I’m lucky, it will be there next time I check. The longest I had a car in one spot without theft was 3 weeks! But that is absurdity. Usually, it won’t last 5-7 days in one spot. -

Currently, the way the bullet ballistics are, and with the newly re-balanced damage numbers, gunplay is lacking the hardcore elements, leaving much to be desired. Vitals? Upper limb damage? I would like to see suppressors by caliber. Complaining about gun cleaning and trying to pawn off a bastardized system based on Metro is a waste of everyone’s time. -

Clean your rifle. Often. Similar to the real world, if in the game the state of the weapon says “damaged,” and visibly it looks ruined, it does not mean it is no longer serviceable. It won’t be as accurate or reliable but it will still work. 100 rounds is more than enough reason to clean and oil the barrel of a firearm, you must know this! Especially since you have served mandatory military time and have experience with weapons. A PKM is not a rifle, it is meant for more sustained rates of fire. Even then, barrel degradation is a legitimate issue. In the real world, you would replace the barrel. In DayZ, you use an universal gun cleaning kit for all issues. The reason I said M4-A1 was garbage compared to AK-M is due to the design of the extractor and spring. We all know the M4-A1 also suffers from poor stopping power, unlike the longer barrel M16 which uses the full potential of the NATO ammo. The mechanic is fine. At least we don’t have to clean our weapons every time it rains. (Which you should, if you’re hardcore.) -

Yeah that is aweful in the video. I have never had an issue with hearing the general direction shots are coming from. No one needs this in a hardcore title. Really watering things down, first with shock, now this garbage.

Location change when switching servers

Yea, that blows when it’s your ping. To further my previous point, if the time penalty when switching servers was only 15 seconds you and your friends could hop in and out until you are close enough to each other to reasonably meet up. Which could take 10 to 15 mins instead of 40, like you mentioned, @General Zod.
