Tanning leather in a barrel with gardening lime currently works. I have not tested other items. Spray paint has not been implemented in the current version of the game as far as I know.

No guns spawning since 1.04 update in military areas...
EzyStriderPS4 replied to Kokyy's topic in New Player Discussion
I actually haven't found any of the top tier guns in military zones either. I play on a 1st-person NY server. I just assumed that people have looted these areas recently or just before me. So far, the only item that is actually annoyingly plentiful is the head torch. I found 7 in one village yesterday! I wish they would make food more scarce. -
Get Dayz Unbanned in Australia -- Petition
EzyStriderPS4 replied to Cammo's topic in General Discussion
I read the RC classification in Australia is for the in-game use of illicit substance as incentive for specific benefit, such as healing. The files haven't been implemented, nor do we know any effects! It's a load of craps. Sorry you guys had to deal with that. -
No guns spawning since 1.04 update in military areas...
EzyStriderPS4 replied to Kokyy's topic in New Player Discussion
The player has no Top Tier weapons... clearly, they will starve or die of dehydration. Unplayable. Broken system. Rare loot is just so... rare. Player is bored and goes back to Call of Battlefield 7. -
There are certain surfaces that your items can clip through when dropped. I was in a hunting tower, and switched BDU pants for Hunter. My BDU's seemingly disappeared with all the gear inside nowhere to be found. I got down from the hunting tower and about two feet below the floor were my BDU pants... suspended in mid-air. They were SO hard to get back in hand. I couldn't get to them by standing under the tower, and ultimately after many failed attempts, was able to jump and balance on the first crossbeam on the tower to retrieve them.

Yes, I've one-hit the zeds with knives and such, but if you are comparing how many strikes it takes with a hunting knife, for example, compared to the bayonet, when face to face, it's awkwardly under-powered.
-
I have a bayonet on an SK 59/66 and it takes so long to kill a zed. The melee option with a bayonet is EXTREMELY weak and only good for knock-back. Please balance this! The OP presents coherent and worth-while points in (1), and (2). Not a fan of (3), except the bit about bleeding.

For sure. It was a minor setback.

As a sniper, you will have to be aware of your environment; therefore, the type of flora (plants) will dictate what to wear. I find the hunting clothes to be proficient for camouflage, paired with black or brown hiking boots. Consider ghillie headwear and possibly the ghillie wrap for your rifle. Lying prone near a similarly colored bush or tree can make for highly effective camouflage. The ghillie items are crafted from burlap and netting. An SK 59/66 can be effective inside of 300 meters, but isn't a great weapon at range due to the fact that PU scope optics are inferior in magnification to the Hunting scope. Do not discount the Mosin 91/30 rifle chambered in the beefy 7.62x54mmR caliber. Again only PU scope available for Mosin. The two best rifles are also of high caliber: M70 Tundra is chambered in .308 Winchester rounds, and the VSD is chambered in 7.62x54mmR rounds. The rounds are nearly identical. Happy hunting!

Ever been outside during a full moon and a clear sky? Think before you type. To be clear: I think it would be cool if every twenty-or-so in-game days when there is a full moon that you could see slightly better at night as long as the weather isn't cloudy. It would add to immersion for me and create interesting opportunities for emerging gameplay. DayZ is supposed to be UNFORGIVING. That is why no one should be complaining about the night. "OMG its not like every other game where I don't have to think about anything differently when the sun goes down because it just turns gray," is an entitled way of thinking. Maybe I'm a little masochistic.

Everyone is so salty now that they have to actually play the game... and everyone is so wrapped up in their personal exploits that their ego won't let them gain any perspective on why this system is leagues better than what it was before 1.04 patch. GusHaines, I am in accord with you, bud.

I like that idea, Pugman. The option should be available whether the other player is deceased or unconscious. Then the reading will let you know how to proceed.
-
I was using NVG earlier and while holding R2 to look through them like binoculars, they just vanished.
-
The dark is perfect the way it is, except when there is a full moon and no clouds, then it's too dark. Anyone that whines about the dark is crying tears of entitlement. Seriously man, pull it together and cope! Use a light source or NVG. Know your in-game strengths. Balance risk and reward.
-
Yeah man, don't get attached to your stuff. I logged in, it was night, but I had nvgs in hand luckily. I checked player count. Hit circle to exit, and my guy crouched, but the menu was still on screen. It took an extra circle press to get out of the menu. Hit circle a few times to figure out if I was crouched or standing, then as I held R2 to look through nvgs, they vanished in the process. It was pure magic. That's the only thing that has disappeared on me since the update. I've had an FX-45 magazine glitch in the gun and I couldn't remove it.

You have one character for all official servers, and a separate character on private servers.
-
Haven't tried this! I will let you know what happens, Marky.
-
Re-logged, no issues! It could have been a synchronization issue, or possibly the surface I was attempting to bury these items in had an aggressive slope, preventing burial. No idea, but everything is in the ground and [presumably] safe.
-
I can't bury a damaged sea chest, nor can I bury the dry sacks that hold 20 storage capacity (they are pristine and both are green). Is there a way to repair the sea chest? Anyone else encounter these issues?

The duping has stopped. I don't believe playing on one server is a bad thing. Whatever reason any player decides to switch servers for, is a valid implementation for the current system. Other players knowing more about what you do, and where you go means you're slacking, OP. But don't worry, I'll watch you through my scope while you hastily drink at the town well, my finger off the trigger, in accord that your heart's every beat, for a short time, churns fear at a gently elevated pace to your periphery and back. Nah, I'm just messing with ya. I'd rather hunt caribou. Been on two hunts. Haven't bagged one yet. The first time I ever saw them in a group, I had a perfect shot, but didn't need the food, so I passed them by. I'll drop you off some jerky when I get one if you don't KoS. But seriously, Devs, the ability to dry out and cure meats would be cool.

My suggestion would be to stay covert and observe your party/quarry if possible without alerting them. At a distance, you can decide what the intentions of the other player(s) is/are and decide for yourself if you want to put 'em down, or approach with caution. TRUST NO ONE. I've seen players kill folks for nothing, just to rummage through their junk, I know how it goes. To be frank, I believe the way you describe your interactions OP, well, that's how things would play out in a real life apocalypse of similar nature. You can't be naive and think that others wouldn't be desperate to get your food and water and protect themselves out of fear, shooting others first, not risking getting shot themselves. Find cover or go indoors and lock yourself in a house with a lock pick, confront others on your terms with as much leverage as you can possibly have. Always do recon before jogging into the open. Good Luck!!! I don't shoot others and try to remain observant. I like travelling at night with a compass and universal flashlight (kept off 90% of the time)... maybe some NVGs, if possible. My rule for travelling at night: Never explore new locations in the dark; make sure you know the area of the map well. Know your surroundings and don't let your vitals slip past yellow survivors! I almost died due to lack of food a few days ago... which was whack. A human can live for several days, even a week or more without food if properly hydrated... my stamina dropped so fast when my stomach was in the red and my health immediately started dropping too. I literally almost died in 30 mins after my stomach went to the red. I like the stamina drop when hungry and this can be expanded to further penalize a large carry weight, but your condition deteriorates too quickly and you can die from starvation in an unrealistic way.

That is so rough....
-
You have no idea how hard the programming involved is. Be patient and stop whining. I have noticed a marked improvement in performance since update 1.04.
-
I can't tell you how many times I've screwed up item selection already! Just getting used to it, learning curve wasn't as sharp this time around, hahaha!! It's definitely better than it was though, that was so weird.

I was getting this today, after a few exits to main menu and a few refreshes of the server list it became normal. I got error code 9 about 4/5 times trying to log in. Keep trying!
