    Console Update 1.05

Duct Tape refresh was THE glitch, other than duplication. Now you have to actually use the intended items in the loot table responsibly and carry a complete kit. I'm extremely happy that tie-up / break free to 100% non-sense is over with. Maybe you should use the auto aim feature if you're missing your shots so much instead of blaming it on desync! =D I'm JK. Try playing on a server that is based closer to your location. I'm only assuming this, however. I live in MA and play on NY server and have NEVER had the bullet issue others describe.

    Aim Assist???

Really?!! I believe you can disable it under options, it's next to look inversion in the controls tab. I hit disable and it seemed good. This setting [ON] is a nightmare for trying to snipe at a specific spot long range when leading your shot, it will pull you "backward," or away from your lead direction. Just non-sense catering to the crying. BI, please, be not the sheep, lead the flock.

    1.05 Update Coming Tomorrow 10/2/19

I can't believe that they would announce an update but not say anything about whether they will wipe servers, characters, or both.

    Beware of wolves

Get some slugs for that Shotgun! Wolves are terrifying in larger numbers, hahahaha. 2 or 3 of them aren't bad to deal with. I was ambushed by a pack of 8-9 a few weeks ago running in the middle of the woods with no cover. It was ruthless. Lesson I learned: Never move and shoot, always take dead aim. I missed about 7 shots in a panic while trying to avoid the wolf attacks. I had 6 bleeding lacerations before I eventually died. The best part is that I had recently died, was now a fresh spawn, and had just retrieved a dry bag I had buried three days prior with some decent hunter clothes, a canteen, a Tundra, a compass, and hiking boots for such an instance as a starter package. Not 5 minutes later, I lost it all to those wolves. That was rough.
  5. You missed out on our conversation mostly thanks to whatever personal bias you have in making your point about balancing. You don't think PvE could be harder? I never said that DayZ was a PvE game. DayZ is a fine balance between both PvE and PvP, and that was always the vision. My thought was that without a complete list of features, the mechanics are a little watered down. Rather than adding in more guns, give me a fishing rod. Allow me to break my legs, like before the engine switch instead of giving me ten more kinds of grenades. Did you even read anything I wrote?
  6. There is WAY TOO MUCH food found on the map in my humble opinion. There is zero necessity to hunt. No way to fish yet since the engine changed. Currently, the survival is extremely watered down. PvE should be their focus when implementing 1.06 patch. I don't need more stupid guns!!! DayZ is delicious, but right now, it leaves a scummy Battle Royal after-taste.

Loot Spawning, Empty Servers and the playerbase

To the best of my understanding the CLE will not include Player Inventories. I am not sure about buried stashes, barrels, crates, or tents. I'm leaning towards the fact that they do, but in the past, Q&A with developers revealed they did not count toward minimal, nominal, and maximum CLE counts. But that was pre-1.0, it may now be different. I believe stashes and tents do count towards the total available on the server. The game does a CLE check every 5 seconds and respawns loot to create shortages, supply&demand, and balance throughout different regions! The highest tier and most rare items have a maximum cap, and when reached, those items will NOT spawn. Duplication is apparently still possible, as players have openly admitted to it. I'm not one of those jive turkeys, nor do I know or care for finding out how. That $H1T breaks the game for others. The possessive mentality is poisonous to community survival. I am in the process of searching out camps, investigating practices of other survivors through observation, and making informed decisions to restore balance on my home server, on which, I haven't found AR's, or SMG's in the last month.

    Bicycles

For sure, let's fine-tune what needs to be fine-tuned before adding more features!
  9. EzyStriderPS4

    Bicycles

I'd like the bikes to be able to have optional storage pouches mounted to them. Survivors would find them as they would any other item from the CLE. The extra space would be essential to role playing as a nomad or just lugging lots of gear from a big score.

Ideas and fixes for smoother gaming experience

#2 YES! We need melee finishers for downed players. Would be excellent. Solution for #1: Drop the item, take what you need from it to your hands, use, put item back if necessary, pick up to inventory.
  11. EzyStriderPS4

    Bicycles

Bikes should be re-implemented in a future update. Still probably trying to figure out the physics... It's kinda strange they added cars before bikes, no? It WILL happen though, it's so important to the core of the game.

    Console Server Machine Switch

I believe the Central Loot Economy (CLE) is working properly. I have not found any ARs at any of the Military Bases yet, but it's very rare that you will be the first person to loot these areas. Server restarts also seem to be less often, on my server, it happens twice a day maybe. Many people will create stashes in tents and bury items in the ground. There was a HUGE rush the first week when v1.04 dropped, and many of these guns have been claimed by hoarders. When the limit has been reached on your server, these guns will not spawn. I do not believe duplicating these weapons is still actively happen, unless somehow certain groups have found ways to intentionally crash servers. It is my personal belief that these guns are around, but reside in private collections. When it seems like people are duping, remember that there has been enough time and server traffic to snag these guns up already. Player inventory does not count toward CLE limits, but stashes and items in tents do, in my understanding. Thus far, I have had the best luck finding good weapons when I go searching for helicopter crashes. Found a VSS, an AK-M, and VSD over the last 6 weeks at crash sites. (Estimate: around 100 hours played.) So go chopper hunting, my friend, or get crafty and seek out bases to raid. I wish you luck in your search. But keep perspective in mind, you don't need an AR to enjoy this game, or to survive. This far into the update, so many survivors have created large stashes in bases that the guns you are looking for are extremely rare and may actually not even spawn at all depending on your server CLE. p.s. YOU ARE NOT ENTITLED TO AUTOMATIC WEAPONS, THIS ISN'T BATTLE ROYALE.

    Keybinding

Console needs the ability to customize controls, and what you are describing here would be integral to that feature. I hope the developers can make it happen!
  14. EzyStriderPS4

    Broken Tent

Yeah, forget about folding it back up. BodyCount is on the right track... Depending on this tent's surroundings, it could be a good trap or ambush spot.

    Barrels

Oh snap! You can manufacture planks from trees??? I had no idea! Can 'O Beans my friend, Can 'O Beans to you. I will be mildly deforesting my home-zone this evening.
  16. EzyStriderPS4

    Broken Tent

Devastating. Hope your site is a good one because it doesn't sound like it's getting folded up. That's a rough learning lesson.
  17. EzyStriderPS4

    Barrels

Crates are clutch. I have a hard time finding planks though.
  18. EzyStriderPS4

    Barrels

What's the farthest you've carried one so far? I lugged one about 6 clicks the other day. I was desperate.

    Ps4 fans

Mine always sounds like that when I'm playing CoD:BO4 and DayZ.

    Silencers are #$&+@?!;$&$ pointless!!!

So far, I have had positive experiences with Suppressors (not silencers) due to my realistic expectations. Suppressors only reduce 15-35% of audible gun noise, that's a personal ball-park estimate. I have found that shooting from inside a building creates a natural suppression for gun sound whether you use a suppressor or not. They ruin too quickly from over-heating. If you shoot with an automatic rate or in very quick succession with a semi-auto, the suppressor gets toasted. However, I have had excellent longevity from only firing off 1-3 rounds and taking time between infected kills. You should be allowed to repair them with a gun cleaning kit. Anyone try that yet? I have not had a chance.

    Sniper

That's true of armored players wearing a vest, and especially the further out the bullet has to travel. Upper-torso hits with high-caliber rounds such as .308 WIN or 7.62x54mmR will knock armored players unconscious more often than eliminate with extreme prejudice. The armor doesn't reduce shock damage as much as I thought (25% for Plate Carrier, and 50% for Police Vest according to the Wiki), but both will reduce damage taken by 50%. I've seen video of other players surviving a head shot from near point-blank range when wearing an assault helmet. I forget what firearm was used, sorry. Do you have any experience with the VSS and the newly-introduced 9x39mm AP rounds, Christoffer? I'm not a KoS player, but I certainly won't hesitate if self-preservation has been seriously threatened by an aggressive or non-communicative survivor. I haven't been through a conflict with another player to test it's efficacy yet. I'm running around with the VSS and it's great for taking out infected without alerting more. The internal suppressor excels at reducing dB from gunshots; it's quite impressive. IMO, better than suppressed pistols.
  22. EzyStriderPS4

    Sniper

I agree with what However, a true sniper shoots at the target's center of mass, the upper torso (rib cage area). Doing damage to internal organs is just as effective as opening up the skull and gives you a larger target to aim for.

    Barrels

Yes, the barrel must be empty to take into your hands.
  24. Running from the coast, my search for boards bearing no fruit, and the dawn breaking, the loop to my make-shift home was almost complete. Not a bad lap, I found a normalized suppressor and some grub in the city. I see what looks like a strange morning glare near a road sign half a click away. Scoping in with my Tundra, I clearly see a fresh spawn with a flare trying to geo-locate. I begin my pursuit. I sprint my way to the town edge and begin skillfully tracking the other survivor. I walk instead of running, knowing that my quarry would be slower than I because of the time they would be spending to look at loot, organize inventory, et cetera. Staying on the periphery of the village, I see the survivor slip behind a stone wall into an industrial area. I remain patient and keep watch over the area where I anticipate the survivor soon will appear given their previous direction of travel across town. 3 to 5 minutes pass, and I am now becoming anxious that the trail has gone cold. I scan the environment and decide to remain on over-watch for a little longer. Bambi emerges. He or she stops at the road edge, and then scampers across. I wanted to get a closer look, and bring up my scope. White screen. Frustrated and skipping frames, I decide to relocate. I catch up with Bambi in another 60 seconds. "Hello!" I shout. "I have been tracking you through the town, how are you?" I approach with caution, even though I had observed the survivor had no weaponry in hand at any time. I felt safe, and in control of the situation. At any moment, I was ready to raise my FX-45 and blow some holes in his sweatshirt, keeping the center of my screen trained on my new friend. "I'm new to the game; only been playing for a couple days," he says. "Let's get inside this house," I caution. Shutting the door behind us, I say, "Looks like you have a shitty school backpack. Want a better one?" "Sure," he obliges. After shuffling my inventory, I remove the ultra-high capacity military backpack's straps from my shoulders and lay it on the floor. It was all I really had to offer. He wanted to know where to get good gear. I asked if he had any melee weapons for protection. That was a negative. I then pointed out the baseball bat on the floor next to him. "Pick that up and let's get moving, I'll show you a decent military barracks location where you might find some good stuff." On our trip through the woods, he asks me some beginner questions about looting. I warn him of a KoS player that frequents my home-area. Things are going smoothly. I teach him how to free-look and zoom. We check a hunting tower. "How are you doing on food and water?" I ask, knowing that where we were going would be out of the way. "I'm good!" he said. We arrive to the barracks location. I say, "Keep close, I will scout." Bambi's first lesson: Don't run in blind. We sneak closer through some pines to get a better view. "Looks clear. Let's move in," I say without definitive evidence. "Okay, I'm right behind you." With a baseball bat. The thought of him bludgeoning the back of my skull-piece never leaves my mind the entire hike from town to our present location. As we near the first barracks, I see another survivor already looting. I turn to my friend, "Stop! I see another guy in here. Are you friendly?" I shouted. No reply. He is crouched and moving in a small room, trying to hide behind a wall. BOOM, says my Winchester, sending a round through the window near the survivor's head. I quickly switch positions to the corner of the building. "That was a warning shot! Are you friendly? Respond or I will shoot to kill!" I yell. The adrenaline is now pumping. I sidestep to the hall window to see the other survivor is crouched in the hall, and I give him a final chance. I pause, no gesture, more silence, and so I put a .308 round through his chest. My friend and I reconvene at the body. "I'm sorry you had to see that. He never responded to me." He laughed it off as if it was all good. I just took a life. I didn't want to do it. I quickly bark, "Hurry up and loot the body, those shots have alerted others in the area. We may not have much time. I will go to the tower and keep you covered." I climb the tower and start scanning. Almost two minutes go by, and I begin to build some anxiety, knowing the sands of time are falling quicker than before. I climb down and run back. He's still in the first barracks. "We have to go now!" I command with urgency. I grab a 9-volt off the body. We leave the barracks, and I check my back: Bambi is now limping. "Are you hurt? What happened?" I inquire while backtracking. "I'm low on water." Well that's just perfect I think to myself in mild frustration, the timer ticking in my head. We have to leave--immediately--and my anchor and I are out in the open. I realize suddenly that I have made THE mistake. I drop dead; shot by another opportunist just seconds after the thought occurred to me to take cover. Bambi's cold lifeless body would soon be on the ground next to mine unless my killer had an ounce of mercy left. Everything is black. I've learned a valuable lesson even though I was in the role of teacher. I wake up on the coast, alone.

    Barrels

Just a bug, my friend. When you can't see the inventory, go to the tabs where you can collapse and open the different inventories of the barrel and just close and reopen the stash tab. It's the last tab. Damaged barrels do the same job as the other quality barrels, the difference is cosmetic.
