Some observations on sickness
EzyStriderPS4 replied to Mookie (original)'s topic in General Discussion
Something strange happened to me with sickness... Exact order of events: I found a plastic water bottle, emptied it out on the ground, then discarded it because I had no room in inventory. Climbed a ladder, way up high, glitched getting off, and fell three stories. I thought I was dead! I had been knocked on conscious instead and my health went into the red. I came to, and hobbled my lucky ass down the road. My water indicator dropped to yellow so I pounded a fresh canteen, which I know I filled at the well in town and had used before many times without any problem. I started throwing up immediately and had the bacteria icon. I know for fact that my stomach wasn't full. I wonder if that water bottle interaction somehow bugged up my canteen? Does town well water have a small percentage of infection also? Tetra took illness away very quickly. -
Finding car parts but no car battery
EzyStriderPS4 replied to IxGeTxStIs's question in Troubleshooting
No bug, it's just hard to find in your region. Keep on keepin' on, you'll get one. Sometimes it feels like the game is hiding the thing you need the most or right then. I find them more often in smaller storage sheds, not the industrial kind. -
They may have recently despawned on your server! I just found two in Troitskoe two days ago. I believe the CLE will spawn 10 of them. So you have a decent corner on the KAS-74U market!

Congratulations, etaab! I'm still looking for the mega-stash on my home server. I swear, they have all the M4-A1 / KA-M / LAR in a base somewhere. Every base I have found (11 or 12) has been broken into and abandoned. My next mission will be to Prison Island and the other island that has a castle, down in the South East of the map.

This image brings a skilled samurai to mind. You are in an elite class of melee combatants! To have the grace and maneuverability of a sword with an ax is nothing short of astounding.

Just remember, IJ70 is not the only gun here, so yeah, one per 5.6 km squared, but there are other firearms to fill the distance between IJ70s with. Currently, if you take the total number of weapons from the nominal column, there is a 3 guns per square kilometer density! In your opinion, what could be a better figure, guys? I'm curious, not arguing.

Trouble inserting a new mag into SMG.
EzyStriderPS4 replied to CottonHill2's topic in New Player Discussion
Haha! I know, I'm so lame. When my friend asks to meet me at 6:45, I tell him, "No, that doesn't work. How about quarter of 7 instead?" As you can see, I fire for effect. -

I'd say it's more like 4 out of 5 times. -
How do you handle other survivors?
EzyStriderPS4 replied to CottonHill2's topic in New Player Discussion
There is NO etiquette, this isn't a Country Club! Hahaha, but kidding aside, this game forces you to stay aware of your surroundings and navigate social situations with extreme care. As a good starting reference: check out and research John Boyd, an F-86 fighter pilot during the Vietnam War. MiG fighter pilots had the upper hand in maneuverability and speed, however, the Lt. came up with a mental advantage which completely upended the aerial dog-fighting theatre's mechanics. He called it "the OODA loop." Observe/Orient/Decide/Act. The reason it is a loop, is the second you finish doing "A," you go right back to "O." A good secondary reference: Read Chapter 10: Terrain, in Sun Tzu's Art of War. Now that we have that covered, NEVER rush in blindly without having a Plan B at the very least! There are many different types of players out there: we could talk at length about human psychology, stress responses, and coping strategies. Nonetheless, each of these different player types may react unpredicatably given a number of varying situations. Many players suffer from material attachment disease of the brain in DayZ---I've heard of players simply killing others so they can get the gun or coat they wanted off another survivor's back. NEVER spill your guts and talk about where you have stashes or have a base. Trust is earned. -
Yeah, the Zeds have a hard time going through doorways too, its easy to pick them off if you have enough lead in your clip for the oncoming wave.

Doesn't it seem like there are too many guns? I know everyone bitches about ARs. I think its a great system. But for example, why have 150 IJ70s? How about 40 instead? 70 Mosins? How about 25? And what about 60 MKIIs??? That should be a bit more special because of it's suppression, in my opinion. Give me 20, like the FX45. It just seems too easy to find a gun. It should feel more rewarding. Like when you find a flippin VSS. I miss that gun...

It crashes all the time! I feel ya. Still a great game, though. Stability will improve as we progress through development. New features create new problems to solve.

People logging out scared of a gun fight is silly, but can't really be controlled. What is an acceptable time to make someone wait on server? 15 seconds may not be enough time to catch up and murder your prey, especially if you expect a fortified position after retreat and move in cautiously. However, is 30 seconds enough time to catch them? Possibly. And is it too tedious to force everyone to do that? Probably.

The Devs are putting in hours and hours of work; because, every update, things improve. The stench of entitled assumption is pervading this forum thread. The gun list is longer than what is featured so far in the game. If you're not putting in the hours, you don't even know half the nightmare of acceptably porting this game to console, so you shouldn't even be talking shit. Some of you guys sound scared to go to military bases with your "Give me more guns in police stations" argument. Pick up your SK 59/66 and deal with the apocalypse! It's been 6 weeks and I found a couple KAS-74U's finally. Keep on L-I-V-I-N out there survivors, alright, alright, alright.

You didn't get the prompt to empty the bottle when on the road or by the water fountain? I wonder if it only works on grass, which would be strange to say the least...
-
You have to be standing outside.
-
In the past, a friend and I once made a fire just so he could extinguish it with the dirty water in his pot, which he allowed me to pour out the unsafe contents of my newly found water bottle into, so we could each fill our containers safely from the well. Pouring it on the ground is sooo easy.

I have noticed more of my wolf encounters occur when the sun goes down at dusk and early night-fall. I've been attacked standing during midday while looking at my inventory and I've been attacked jogging. I don't believe player behavior triggers them, however, it seems more likely that the type of terrain the player is on, and worn footwear affect the variability of a wolf spawn due to the noise generated by player movement. I'm only speculating. Once, I spawned wolves out West, sprinted to a shed, shut all doors, and they passed by howling. They never found me that night, but maybe it would have been different in the day.

This is a joke! Get this $#@& outta here. The reason to hate console shooters like CoD is because of this and only this reason. User-only input please with wireless squanch.
-
That would annoy the heck out of me! Did you notice aim assist helping in PvP, aiming at other players?
-
Gotta say I'm anal retentive with stuff. I was lining the shores with suicided corpses trying to spawn in the character model I wanted!

Yeah, it really does. Repair gets tedious once shoes become damaged and the cycle begins between being worn, and once again damaged. The rate should be adjusted. Even if you are trail blazing, boots, especially military, should wear after 20 to 30 k. Which still isn't much. Basically, every item of footwear is like a cheap pair of sneakers, or joggers, for those in the UK. I'd really like to see the developers add a condition between pristine and worn. For example, fair. This would nicely open avenues for expanded item use and value. The leather repair kit could bring shoes to fair, but duct tape only to worn. Same with the gun cleaning kit. Pristine 5k / Fair 5k / Worn 4k / Damaged 2k / Badly Damaged 1k. This could be a Hiking boot. The worse your item is damaged, the greater the repair cost for the next tier. If damaged, shoes could slow you down slightly. At some point, you should no longer have the option to repair your shoes, because the sole will have worn away. You saw it here first! Send me a Jackson, and I won't say a word, BI (; Big thanks for decreasing item size for pistols and gloves!

Similar solution as the helicopter randomization: Only several, or how ever many you deem fit, gas stations have fuel reservoirs. They persist through restarts until empty, and get randomized once cleared by the CLE. Gotta be able to siphon from wrecks! Gasoline is quite volatile, so most tanks should have 0-5% left. You should feel lucky to find anything that's 50% or more full.

Site no longer works. Might be the server switch.

I feel like it wasn't man. That's just me. I've always noticed the gun sway, but not AA. If they nerfed it, it's very noticeable with [ON] setting. Edit: I do play on the first person only servers, which are considered to be hardcore. Is that a real thing, and could AA be [OFF] in this situation?
