It's not a bug as the boy above said, it's a way to stop server hops jumping into your base and switching servers to loot the same place multiple times. I would rather that character get stuck on the server. But this anti hopping feature does not bother me, after all I always play on the same server and I am not afraid to play the night even without night vision.

On the contrary I don't find dayz an experience at all hardcore or as realistic as you mention. I wanted more complexity and more hardcore feeling. I say this because I found it very easy to find guns, ammunition, military equipment, food and weapons recoil as unrealistic as a COD. And that gave me some sadness, because I bought dayz looking for a hardcore experience of a zombie apocalypse. And all I got is a buggy game, with easy mechanics, looting everywhere, life and disease system that doesn't make much difference.

Dayz is like a walk in the park where you are no longer afraid to die because your character is an x-men with a healing factor, where items exist in abundance instead of being scarce.
