Thank you for the recommendations guys! I used to play on Spaggie's back in 2019 but I get like over 200 ping there. I'm thinking at this point I might as well try a VPN and see if it can help the ping issues. Still better than playing on official lol

I've attempted searching for a solid community server that is simply vanilla 1PP for a while but have come up with nothing. I figured you guys might have some recommendations? It doesn't really matter what map honestly. I just can't justify playing official 1PP any longer.

Are bulletproof bushes and leaves still a thing? I know this was an issue for a long time but I swear I remember reading that DayZ fixed it. I'm wondering because leaves on bushes and tiny trees give a visual "hit" indicator and also play the bullet impact sound. But I'm not sure if the bullet goes through unabated, or if it has a loss of strength, or if it just doesn't go through at all. I included an example clip on Twitch. It's hard to tell if the leaves stopped my bullets or not, considering I missed all 4 shots regardless of whether or not the bullets went through.

Someone said that the "extreme" graphics settings should only be used for 4k monitors. For example, they're saying the "Object Detail", "Terrain Detail", "Texture Detail", etc. are all 4k textures when on extreme. So basically it's useless to have extreme settings for a 1440p monitor. Is this true?

Hi, for some reason my mic cuts out pretty often when having dialog with other people. I hear it from their side and it cuts out, then randomly seems to cut back in to finish what I was saying like 5 seconds later. I've heard of it happening to others but not sure what to do and I can't find any mention of this online. I've tried a lot to no avail so far. I have no internet issues, I have a good mic and keep push to talk activated long enough. I changed my push to talk key on discord (someone else's suggestion) but nothing. My mic is the default on windows. I don't have a noise gate or any post-processing effects set up either. I made sure the input gain was high enough and all of that. Anyone heard of this issue or know how to solve it?

I've noticed this sort of problem but not the exact same thing and on my RTX 2060. I have most my settings up at extreme/high besides Hardware Antialiasing (low, have tried medium) foliage smoothing: on (off/on either way doesn't seem to help), AO at low. I run a 1440p monitor at 60 fps and I play in full screen. Have tried a range of setting combos but none seem to help. Can't quite run everything on max haha. Seems this issue doesn't happen to everyone, even some streamers' games look better than mine even when downscaled from 1440 to 1080p. Thought I was crazy.

At the moment there's actually a big problem with how slowly you die to starvation. DayZ devs have stated they're looking into a fix for it. More than likely the killer is dehydration. Or when you are hungry or starving the chance of getting sick is higher which will perpetuate the problem. You're gonna have to start fishing to survive, it's the difference on DayZ right now between life and death. You might get lucky finding hooks in those lil canoes or in cargo containers. But easiest way is to use bones. Knife + bone = bone hook. I try to cut up fresh spawn corpses to get their bones. Then get a long stick, cut up some clothing for rope (or just find rope) use a knife to dig for worms and boom, unlimited food. Then when you get into it a bit, the best bet is hunting. Right now (and seemingly for the near future) you're gonna have to get lucky to survive finding canned food and drinks it seems.

If anyone has a bit more knowledge on this, I'd love to hear it. I've been trying to find a nice blend between the game not looking bad, but running at 60fps. I can run nearly every setting at their highest, besides shadows (Medium), Hardware Antialiasing (Disabled), Foliage Smoothing (Disabled) & finally AO (Low) Do any of the other settings (Textures, Terrain, Object Detail, ect.) have a huge impact on performance? Or is it mainly Hardware Antialiasing, AO and Shadows? If it matters, I run the game at 1440p 60fps. I have an RTX 2060 6GB, i5 10400f (runs at 20% on DayZ), Crucial Ballistix 3200mhz CL16 32GB (2x16) RAM, Seasonic Focus 750w Gold PSU, and only thing I have on my Kingston A2000 SSD is DayZ and my Windows 10.

I've heard a lot of different numbers for both gas extending upwards and gas extending underneath the ground. Does anyone know the actual numbers? I know that, for example, the top of the hospital in Pavlovo is a safe zone. That's 4 floors right?

Good to know, I knew I could count on these forums for a solid answer. Thanks especially drgullen. I enjoy the new rarity of NVGs. Previously (on 1PP Vanilla on PC) I felt the need to find NVGs as great or greater than a proper gun. This was defensive in nature, considering many had NVGs. Now that they're more rare I feel safer traveling at night. It also makes learning the map in complete darkness not completely worthless.

I know they spawn at heli crash sites, but I'm wondering if anyone knows the numeric value of how many can be in the loot pool on vanilla? I don't really know how to look at XML files and what-not, perhaps I should learn. It seems to be the easiest way to find this kind of info.

I am sure this has been reported as a bug already. Just wondering if anyone knows how to fix this. I play on a server that has an excessively long queue after the wipe. Haven't been able to play yet bcuz I wait through the queue then crash lol. Tried verifying my game files, tried completely deleting all DayZ files and re-installing and it still happens. All of my drivers are up to date. I don't join any other servers because after the hype of the new update dies down, this is the only consistently populated First Person Official server for Chernarus on PC. EDIT 2 days later: After a clean install of windows and clean install of DayZ the issue still persists.

I had a pretty large stash that went unraided for months. One night I was playing and ran into the area my stash was in and all the boxes were dug up. I heard a guy call out saying: "Hey bro don't shoot me I'm friendly, look at this base I raided! Grab some loot!" after explaining to him it was mine he told me he has "hacks" that are very easy to find on the internet that allows him to see any type of item he wants within a specified range (anywhere from 1-8 kilometers). This was on the most popular FPP official server at the time. Do a lot of ppl do it?" he said yea and all he did was look it up and purchased it through guys on Discord. To avoid hackers, I'd play community servers, private servers, or white-list servers. The hard part is whenever your stash gets raided you never know if it was a hacker or someone with a good eye so it's always a toss-up. Truly makes the end-game goal of making a base a lot less appealing.
