If you do find it, how do you despawn it? If I find any on my travels I want to make sure that I despawn it.

Ok cheers for that I will try it out. I will change to 1080p in the Playstation menu and also disable HDR. Someone here has exactly the same issue and it mentions HDR. This is on PC though I think. I just googled "HDR making games look dark" and there is a ton of content on it. May be onto something here... Really need a fix for this, it is becoming something of a deal-breaker for me. Sometimes I literally cannot see much in front of my character at all, and this is during the day time.

I have a 4K TV but a standard Playstation 4. Do you think this could be the issue? Should I change to 1080p when playing (if I can that is?)

I spent a good two hours trying to optimize my TV to this game at the weekend. The problem is certainly not my TV (LG UHD 4K which is only about 6 months old) I have tried every adjustment I can find online and none of them fixed this issue. This type of problem does not happen on any other game that I play, or anything else I use on my TV (everything from a Blu-ray player to an old Nintendo Wii) I am convinced this is an issue with the game, and how it optimizes itself on certain TV's. I will try to post some pictures.

I think you are correct. A full hour of night is far too long, if night was 30 minutes I would stay on the server, settle in somewhere, and get on with repairing my gear/ loading mags/ sorting my inventory/ crafting/ cooking etc. and the sun would probably be close to rising by the time I had finished. At the moment I just server hop with my fingers crossed for daytime. I would prefer not to do that.

Another difference that I’m sure will be fixed with the next patch is there is something weird going on with the lighting in the game. It will be the middle of the day, super bright out but while running through the woods it looks as though it’s dusk especially if on the move and you happen to scan behind you and then look forward, everything turns really dark and lightens back up slowly. There have been plenty of times where I almost decided to light a torch in the middle of the day because visibility was that bad. This one is really doing my head in. I literally have to make my character "look down" all the time in order to see anything that is near me, if I look down, the immediate area brightens up. The area about 10 to 20m around my character is almost pitch black when I look straight forwards. Hope they fix it sometime soon. I have almost missed out on good loot because of it, and one time I totally missed the fact that a player was near me.

I seem to be having issues with the lighting in dayz. During the daytime, even in bright sunlight, when my character is looking straight ahead, the immediate vicinity around me is very dark, pretty much to the point where I don't even notice loot that is there. When I make my character "look down" the whole area brightens up and I can see. I am pretty sure this is some kind of problem, and not intended. Anyone else get this?

Nope, Gas lamp is self-igniting too.

Character 1: Spawned on east coast, made my way through a railway depot, got a shovel as a weapon, met a guy and fought some zombies, died from blood-loss that I did not know how to fix Character 2: killed on sight by a guy with a shotgun about 5 minutes after spawn Character 3: killed by Zombies (night-time) Character 4 killed by zombies (night-time) Character 5: Actually made my way inland and got some decent stuff, a pistol, a water bottle to refill, MP5-K, Gas stove and cooking pot. Went on a supply run along the coast and ended up dying of hunger. Character 6: got a shotgun and ammo pretty much straight away, tried to help a guy being attacked by about 5 zombies and got killed myself Current character: spawned near Elektrozavodsk. Currently doing ok, got Pistol, Rifle and Shotgun, decent amount of food and drink, gas lamp and canister, and some other stuff. Gonna stock up on more food and drink, hopefully find more ammo, then head North and see what happens. This game really does make you analyse where you went wrong and ended up dying,. I seem to do a little bit better each time, unless I have bad luck of course, which can happen very easily. I think dayz is a great game with massive potential, I hope it goes in the right direction.

I would also like the ability to find and brew hot drinks like tea and coffee 😂

I understand what you mean here, but perhaps I explained it wrong. I am pretty sure that this is not intended, it just seems odd and I have never seen this in another game. it happens all the time during the day (in sunlight or not). I have a friend who plays on Xbox and he says he does not experience this, I have watched videos of him playing and it is true.

I think the splint/ broken leg thing is already in. I would like to see: Icon on the server listing to show whether it is day or night time. Selectable characters or customization A complete overhaul of the inventory management system to make it a bit more user-friendly Motorcycles and pushbikes (they have to be repaired before use, and not too many of them around) A few more options to make it better to navigate at night (or make night time slightly easier to see)

I think you can make torches last longer by adding resin from a tree. I think you just use the torch on the tree?
