Those bastards! Man I hope something eventually happens to either resolves or prevents this annoying hack that these people are using. It honestly one of my biggest gripes with the game at the moment. No one likes losing everything to some griefing hacker. The worst part is that the hack is a known hack and has been an issue in ARMA 2 for a few years now.

Def sounds like one of your wheels is messed up. Can you visually see any of the wheels looking messed up at all? I know I personally had a wheel go out on one of my vehicles, and it was doing the same thing you're describing. When I mouse scrolled over the vehicle I was not getting any of the tires in red or anything. I ended up having to pull out a flare (it was pitch black out) and looking for the damaged wheel.

Make 24 hours happen faster in game.
AcucracK replied to wolfstriked's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
haha, yeah I don't understand why even get on the forums and post anything if all you have to add to a suggestion thread is "nope." Forcing someone to play a particular server for the duration of their characters life would be pretty rough. There already is the issue where a server you may start to call home randomly goes down for one reason or another. Should a player then lose their things and have to start all over when the join another server because the one they were on crashed? As it is, once players set up a tent or find a vehicle on a server, that kinda starts a "lock" in process you are talking about. Because if you hop to another server, your camp does not follow you. -
Make 24 hours happen faster in game.
AcucracK replied to wolfstriked's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
This could easily be a server side option, and is a great idea. My group I play with all cannot play till around 11pm Arizona time, so the server we currently play on is always dark. Before we played on a server that for whatever reason, it may have been server resets, but it seemed to rotate. Some nights when we got on it was day time, the next night is was night time. Some might say the solution is to just go to another server, but eventually you start making a particular server your home. Either make the days in game shorter or longer than normal, and this could be a server side option easily. -
I have had this happen to my group as well a few times. It comes down to either you got raided and someone took the stuff, or it got wiped and was lost by the server somehow. Either way, the stuff is gone. Some would say it's Alpha, and don't get attached to your gear. I know personally we had a cars gear vanish but everything else in the camp was still present. No one took the vehicles or anything from our tents, just the one vehicle was empty. So it does happen. One thing that may help, not 100% sure but we do it anyway, is mouse scroll down on your vehicle and tent and use the "save" option often. But even then there is no guarantee you wont lose stuff.

Team Up Feature In-Game - A Must Read (Idea)
AcucracK replied to floomoo's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
Isn't alpha the time to experiment with new ideas like this? Personally, I am lucky and have a group of friends I have been gaming with for a long time all playing this game, so we can group up and use Vent for in game communication. But a lot of other people are not so lucky. Other people new to the game are coming in and trying to survive a zombie apocalypse only to find that everyone they meet just shoots them on sight. Then they find there is no way to communicate to these other players, and start doing the same thing. Some of these players may even come to the forums to express their experience, or state they want grouping and some form of communication with others, only to be called care bears or noobs by someone. If the alpha stage is not the time to be trying new/drastic changes in game, when is? -
Team Up Feature In-Game - A Must Read (Idea)
AcucracK replied to floomoo's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
It is just a suggestion to try and change what has become a shoot everyone you see on sight survival game. A possible counter to the increased chance of items dropping would be an increase of zombies that spawn in the area you are raiding. -
Team Up Feature In-Game - A Must Read (Idea)
AcucracK replied to floomoo's topic in DayZ Mod Suggestions
I like the group idea, and have had thought about different ways to do it as well. The other incentive that may work with the group idea would be to increase the drop percentage of the less likely to drop items when working as a team than when playing solo. Another idea might be once you are officially grouped in game, teams have the ability to communicate in game. In game voice chat could be heard by everyone in your group, as well as the group chat. This would help players who meet in game have a way to play/communicate with each other. -

AcucracK replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
That's the results I fully expected. With zero ability to fully communicate your intentions, and no real incentive to not just shoot everyone you see on sight, this is the current state of the game when it comes to encountering other players. We have a community torn on the communication in game issue, when the easy, most obvious solution is to just allow for it to be a server side decision. Maybe later down the line some idea or new in game mechanic will solve the communication issue, or an incentive of some sort will encourage players to group up instead of killing everyone they see on sight. -
Share servers with SIDECHAT enabled
AcucracK replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Should be server side choice, just like some servers are veteran and some are regular. Nuff said. -
Who's gonna toss the "it's alpha!" line? haha Yeah the cheating/hacking is kind of a big let down for me too. What was even worse to find out is that the hacks where people can nuke every player on the server has apparently been around for a while on ARMA 2, and no one has ever bothered to fix it. I am waiting to see what the next round of fixes brings myself, but some friends who I play the game with and I have seriously started considering getting our own server to have a little better control over it when it comes to these types of people who choose to cheat/hack.

No Side Chat turned me into a Bandit and game less fun
AcucracK replied to big_t's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Should be a server side choice, just like veteran and not veteran servers. Really no reason to force others to play the way you specifically enjoy playing the game. Just as an example: I have played a lot of CoD in my life, and back in the day, my clan ran a Realism Mod for CoD 2. We all had a blast personally, but I am sure a lot of others didn't like it. They could just find a server that did not have the Realism mods installed and play it normal. Would it have been fair/fun for other players if CoD was just like "tough shit" and forced this Realism mod down every single players throats? I don't see how or why this would be such a big deal to just make it up to the server admin, and let the players find the server types they wanna play on. -

The problem with setting up some sort of location where you do that is how do you communicate that to the rest of the server? This is basically the main problem with trying to be friendly with any player now in game, you cannot communicate until you are so close that they have already busted a cap in your ass. Let servers decide if side chat is turned on or off, or design some other way of being able to communicate with others. Maybe add a party system. Something. -
Nwa best way to survive
AcucracK replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Yeah because the number of times I have raided the NWA with my group we have encountered one guy, and he logged. I've done it while servers dead and while populated. This field of slaughter I have yet to see. Either way it was my advice and my opinion for the guys question. In the end the guy can do whatever he wants. -
As it is right now, it seems that in order to find ammo for you silenced guns, such as the M4A1 Camo SD or the M9 SD, you have to find the actual gun again itself and take the clips that are typically piled on top of it. It's rare right now that you find any ammo for these SD weapons when raiding any location. I've put in about 100 hours of in game time and have only seen ammo for these weapons when you actually find the weapon itself. Some ideas I had to resolve this: Set it so ammo for these types of weapons spawn on their own like other weapons in the game. As it is now, at least in my experience, these types of ammo do not spawn on their own, only with the weapon itself. Allow these SD weapons to fire the non SD ammo type, maybe with some sort of penalty. Perhaps an increase in the noise made when shooting or a reduction in accuracy.

I love it man. If I ever notice you're gaming on the server I am on, I will make it a point to keep an eye out for yah. Side note, this is a perfect example of how there needs some better way to communicate to others in some shape or form. -
I agree that in the past couple of weeks people have just started opening fire on anything that moves. One of the reasons I think it got worse was the dropping of the side chat. Now it's very hard to figure out if someone is friendly at all, and it's much easier to just take them down instead of waiting to find out, or trying to salute, or use in game VoiP. I am lucky to have 7 other friends who play and we can use vent to communicate. It makes it an absolute blast to all try and survive together. We have had some great experiences for sure. Not sure what could possibly be done to give intensives for working together though... Maybe something like if you are in a group, the drop rates for rarer items go up a bit? Otherwise the only intensive right now to not blow the random guys head off you just met is the possibility of just plain having a unique survival experience as a group instead of just going it alone. Maybe the player killing will start to go down as time goes on. I mean bandits are part of the game for sure, but if all you wan't to do is kill other players in a video game, they have made a few of those types of games already.

Nwa best way to survive
AcucracK replied to [email protected]'s topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Honestly if you are wanting to avoid a lot of bandits trying to kill you, then go play a less populated server and loot the airfield. The more populated the server, the more the odds go up that you are going to run across other players and potential bandits. -
Yeah I was joking about the Alpha comment. But seriously, hacking is one thing, but being able to come into a server and NUKE everyone single player and destroy all their tents and gear? That's a game breaking hack.
-
Woah I think your caps lock broke on your keyboard bro. Yeah, it's a known hack. Have not heard any news on whats being done to stop it, but they know about it. Watch out though, someone might pop into the thread and just post "IT'S ALPHA." :P

People don't take the game so seriously sometimes
AcucracK replied to izodn's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Wow... There are so many games out there right now if you just want to run around and kill other players. These games that's the main focus of the entire game. Death matches, TDM, whatever. I can understand that killing other people is part of this game, but the people who only play this game to kill other players are missing so much of the fun there is to be had when playing with a group of friends. I'm lucky in that I have about 7 others I can play with, and we can use vent to communicate. But now since there is no global chat, and maybe it's also just a combination of more people coming to the server, but everyone has turned to "shoot the guy first, ask questions later" mode. Sucks, because I am sure there could be some great times to be had if some of these random strangers were to meet up, both restrain from killing each other, and work as a team. -
Yeah I am not 100% sure. All I know is I play with a group of friends, about 7 of us, and we typically can only find ammo for these SD guns when we find the actual gun itself again. We have raided airfields, military bases, as well as the larger city's and never found the ammo by itself.

DayZ Hacking and Cheating: What to know
AcucracK replied to Preslei's topic in DayZ Mod General Discussion
Those nukes that kill all players also destroy tents and anything inside them. -
Many threads already posted about things like this if you use the search. It sucks, but they are aware of it. A lot of people a re reporting things coming back after the admins restart their servers again. My group wasnt so lucky however. There is also issue where hackers use some sort of nuke that kills all players and if it hits near your camps, destroys your tents and items.
