    It's called "Alpha" you retards!

I am sure this thread will go well...

    Server Nukes dont matter

You are not alone with your fear of even logging into play. It's no biggy to die to bandits or a zombie, or lose everything from a wipe, but this Nuke shit is real low blow.

    Rampant Hacking

Another global ban would be good first step. It's really ruining the game for a lot of people. I play with a group of about 7 people and we are all fine with dying and losing shit from bandits, zombies, and heck, even server wipes (it's alpha, yes we know) but to just die and lose everything from some nuke hack is just frustrating as hell.
  4. Quick, someone post that this games in Alpha! Shit, people already beat me to it. What does the game being in Alpha have to do with this obvious increase lately of people using this hack to ruin the people who are trying to test this game?

    Rampant Hacking

To add another blow to the balls with the "Nuke hack" it also destroys any tents and the items in them if the nuke hits in that general area of where they were placed.
  6. I do not see why they are even in the game yet honestly. They don't stop zombies, and are pointless if you actually were trying to build some sort of base because it would be obvious someone had some sort of camp near by once you ran across them. Instead they are only being used to block things off in main towns so people cannot get into them. It's mixed results with the vault function, sometimes you're fine, other times you get hurt bad. The other problem is Toolboxes are a super rare spawn compared to the wire fence. My group and I have come across one in easily 100 hours of game play.

Bad luck, wipes and hackers in DayZ

"I didn't mean don't use the tents I meant that I don't know why people want to call one place on the map home. You get too atatched to your gear and then get all emotional when it's gone. This is an alpha so things dissapear from time to time." Again I am not talking about setting up a kingdom, house, or some huge main camp for my character and my party. We personally had about 6 different locations with a tent or so for when we would do raids on certain areas. Or for when you were moving from place to place, you could stop in and gather supplies you may need. No one in this thread is over reacting or getting emotional. The big kick to the balls, the final straw, whatever you wanna say, was after just setting up another tent and then going off to do a raid, in less than 24 hours a hacker nuked everyone on the server and this wiped all tents and items. That has nothing to do with a server wipe, or Alpha. That's just some asshole griefing people who are trying to just enjoy and test this game the way it should be played.
  8. It would incite the "Mad Dash to the Crash" among all the players who saw it. Imagine the tense moments when it finally crashes and there's about 20 to 30 survivors quickly gathering around it. Side note: Jackel2072, is that Agent Dale Cooper from Twin Peaks for your avatar?? Awesome!

    My ATV disappear

Chalk it up, and move on. It either got wiped by the server, or someone stole it. Be happy you have your health and whatever you have on your person. It sucks, but that's life on DayZ.

I think at this point, with the lack of being able to identify if someone is friendly or not, and even then, not knowing if they still might kill you after pretending to be friendly, most of us have already become bandits to a certain point. I play with a group of friends, we do not kill each other of course, and we do not get in game to just try and hunt people down, so we are not bandits in that sense. But, with no way of knowing or being able to trust another player when you come across them, it has made us all more likely to shoot first, or attempt to avoid the contact altogether.

    Need more hackers

My theory on all of this is people are starting to grief more, whether it be with these insta kill hacks, disconnecting/reconnecting, or by using wire traps and sandbags to block off loot points. These people who are doing these things want to make sure that everyone else is as miserable as they are when it comes to this game. It also seems like this griefing has increased with the removal of global chat, and the tweaking of starting gear. Now these people have no emotional connection, or way of communicating with others on the server. They are dying more and more, whether it is from bandits, zombies, or glitches. They are frustrated, angry, upset, and taking it out on us, the people trying to play the game as it is intended. They may even come to these forums and vent, only to get called a "stupid fucking noob," or told "ITS ALPHA DERP." This is just my opinion/theory on why these issues are increasing across all servers, and we are seeing an increase in these things being reported here on the forums

Bad luck, wipes and hackers in DayZ

My opinion, people are hacking in the alpha because they are mad, angry/upset, or just no longer having fun. Even the mood on these forums... a lot of pent up rage most the time. So you have this guy, who for whatever reason just didn't have a good experience playing this game. Something ruined it for him. Maybe a bandit killed him after he finally found his dream gear. Maybe just all his shit got wiped. Either way, we are starting to see an increase in this "griefing/hacking." That's why I think we are seeing an increase in posts regarding these hacking issues. That's why we are getting an increase in posts about the annoying use of wire traps and sandbags. These people are no longer happy with the game for whatever reason and want to make sure everyone else is having a shitty time playing it with them.

Bad luck, wipes and hackers in DayZ

See, that wasn't so hard was it? Actually explaining a little bit more instead of tossing the "it's in alpha" grenade into a quick reply. The OP even states " I understand DayZ is in alpha but all that happened just left a bitter taste in my mouth." Honestly, it's in the discussion area to be discussed. You can easily not open the post or choose to not read it all. Free will.

Bad luck, wipes and hackers in DayZ

"We're in Alpha. Got it ?" No shit Sherlock. Does the game being in Alpha mean it's perfectly OK for people to use hacks and kill everyone in a server? Way to be constructive and add something to this discussion.
  16. I'm with a group of three, we are running low on medical supplies and are out of morphine. One person in the group gets a broken leg. We are all communicating verbally via vent. Those of us with two functioning legs then make a raid on a hospital in the pitch black dark. My heart was racing a number of times during this experience. We eventually successfully raided the hospital and returned to our downed group member and injected some good old morphine into his body. This is just one of many of my personal experiences working with a group of survivors. The adrenalin pumps through my veins, and I get those same "feelings" you're describing while you hunt us down. Another time, one of my survival mates was murdered south of my location. He told us of his last known location via vent and we hunted down the bandit. He actually did the good old "log out and log back in" trick, but after he spawned back in, he crept up slowly next to me and then was crouched about 3 feet in front of my character. I was prone under a tree limb, and put 3 AKM rounds through his upper body. Pure bliss.

Bad luck, wipes and hackers in DayZ

You're kidding right? The game gives you tents for a reason, so you can set them up and store items for survival. A player can only carry so much at a time. Not everyone playing DayZ is having a life span of a couple of hours or so. Once you start getting past say 10 hours of being alive, you start to run out of space for things. The game gives survivors the ability to place tents down, so we are playing the game "for what it is." It's been a combination of the game itself not playing/behaving as it should, and now people blatantly using hacks to mass kill everyone on a server, and in the process blow your tent and it's precious items you have scavenged off the face of the plant. These people are not playing the game for what it is. The servers are not letting us play the game for what it is.

    Entire Server Killed

Not only is this killing people, but if this hack/whatever you wanna call it, hits near your tents, it essentially blows up your tent with all it's gear stored inside.
  19. The OP was just making a point that after removing the global chat, people started killing each other on site more often than before (I know my group did) and generally became less friendly when encountering other players. It has changed the way the game is being played and some like it, some don't. Seems like the easy fix is allow for servers to make this choice instead of forcing it upon everyone. Not everyone has a group of friends to play with in game, and it's pretty hard to give random person you just found in game your Vent server info.

    Barricades

My group has found one Toolbox in my in-game play time of about 73 hours. So the ratio spawn rate of toolboxes to wire fence and other crap makes it so it's a lot easier to just put this shit up then take it down. Not to mention that taking them down is no easy task either.

Bad luck, wipes and hackers in DayZ

I can confirm these experiences Milk is talking about as I am part of the group. Lucky for me I work today and dodged the hacker, but still was shocked to learn that in the past 48 hours we have basically had to start all over after a lot of in game hours. Re-finding tents, re-setting up camp (for the third time), and re-scavenging towns for supplies. Not looking to get all of our stuff back, I understand it is gone, but would like to feel some comfort in knowing these issues are being looked into/resolved soon.
  22. I'm not sure what you're specifically talking about here, but I personally am still having a blast with the game. Maybe go a bit into detail on exactly what's wrong and ruining your experience.
  23. AcucracK

    Ok Seriously......................

People are getting a little out of hand with this stuff, and lucky for my group, I found a toolbox once so we have one. But I have never seen another spawn, so I am sure there are plenty of survivors who have no way of dealing with this griefing, minus logging on to another server, moving into the building, then logging back into the server. Like it has been noted before, it doesn't stop zombies, it just stops players.
  24. I understand what the OP is saying 100%. I even play with a group of friends and now we pretty much have a shoot first, or avoid all together mentality when playing the game. Yesterday though, we stumbled across a server with side chat still and it brought back some great memories. We always use vent to talk, and we were laughing at some of the stuff being said in side chat. I think it should be a server side option in my opinion. Just like some servers now are Veteran and some are Regular.
  25. I know I see people who are obviously killing themselves on purpose, coming up as dead every 30 seconds or so. That could be a big part of it lol.
