@General Zod I agree with your sentiments relating to the adverse affects of the loot economy from occupying traditional buildings, but as a base-builder myself, fortification of existing in-game structures is the best way to both conceal a base and limit its breach-points. If a survivor or group of survivors build a free-standing base it’s much easier to raid, pure and simple. In addition, it takes far less resources to fortify an existing building than to erect a free-standing compound. Base Building definitely needs expansion and improvement, so I’m all for OP. I try to be aware of how my bases affect loot economy and don’t build in structures that support valuable loot such as weapons or medical supplies for instance.

New basic clothing patches to help avoid friendly fire
WOLVERlNES replied to Jordi Altimira's topic in Suggestions
From a development and practicality perspective, I think the arm-bands are the most practical way of implementing a visual system to track friendlies, and the granular level of customization and detail needed for what OP is suggesting I don’t think is feasible. I myself, one-time accidentally killed a friendly survivor—but the reason that happened was due to lack of communication in that situation when I called out the target, and there was no response by my friendly until he reacted to his death. If he would have had situational awareness and responded to my visual description of my target, and say hey 👋 that’s me, don’t shoot. It would have been avoided. So, the BEST way to avoid friendly-fire is simply: communication. In the US Army, we say: Shoot, Move and Communicate. -
Nah mate, I used to PC game, it was a money-pit of upgrading hardware/software every time you turned around, plagued with cheaters using mod-menus and doing things such as flying through the air like Superman in a first-person shooter, and the line between what consoles can graphically achieve vs gaming PCs is blurred more and more as time has past. I’d rather spend $500 every 3-5yrs on a new generation console than thousands on gaming PCs and hardware upgrades.

Update 1.21 Xbox Experimental (Change Log)
WOLVERlNES replied to Kyiara's topic in Xbox Experimental Updates
DayZ plays much better on SeriesX than Xbox One. I think frame rates, graphics pop-in at long draw distances are still an issue along with flickering textures on roads and certain sections of the map regardless of which generation console you’re playing on. I think the game looks better at long draw distances with foggy atmosphere and I recently played Valheim, one thing their game engine does that I think could help DayZ for long draw distances is to add a depth of field to the game camera causing objects far away to have a blur to them. This would require less details in polygons and textures at greater draw distances for landscapes and architecture far away. Plus add a stylized visual aesthetic to the game as well. -
I play on Xbox, I would never see an email alert in-time.

Damn, I didn’t get a chance to design something. And it’s what I do for a living, I’m a senior graphic designer lol.

@iDW13N NUEVAVIDA Community server rules have nothing to do with vanilla game, keeping a log of who drives a car isn’t a realistic endeavor IMO. However, lock picking car trunks and doors should totally be a thing and I’ve suggested it in the past.

Back in the day only PC games offered custom key-bindings for controls, but it’s starting to become the norm on consoles now too. Would love it if Bohemia allowed console players the option to do user defined button mapping for our controls. Which would also help address accessibility needs as well.

The vanilla game in general doesn’t have nearly enough infected, hopefully with the infected re-working they plan for this year they amp-up the infected numbers. Your request already exists, server admins can simply reduce the infected spawns in the xml files or increase them. Same for loot tables, server admins can increase, decrease or remove all together resources they don’t want to spawn.

I play on Xbox and I only lean to slice the pie around corners or to enter a doorway. But I also don’t go out of the way to PvP either, I play to survive cause… it’s a survival game. So, if I hear or see a firefight between survivors, I’ll stay clear of it unless they engage me with shots. I don’t know if this is abused on console, but will pay attention moving forward to see if I notice.

DayZ 2023 Roadmap communicates there’s plans to expand upon clothing and gear customization by adding varieties of “backpacks and survival themes and outfits that exemplify the DayZ brand.” I’m all for these updates to expand survivor’s cosmetics in the game. But would like to suggest that as part of these updates include fixing clothing items that have clipping issues or incompatibility problems. Examples of this include: Hair of character models clipping through various hats that’s like berets Helmet straps that awkwardly clip over ski masks Head-torches that clip through baseball caps Backpack straps that clip over and through various vests Masks that extend down the neck and clip through the shoulders and collars of jackets/shirts GPS receivers that clip through pouches on tactical vests The bulky appearance of armbands over sleeves looks terrible compared to how they look with no sleeves How longarm weapons clip through tactical gear like plate carriers and attachments when equipped Knife Sheaths and Knives clip through shirts and jackets awkwardly Knifes attached to boots clip through pants I’m sure there’s other examples I’ve not mentioned here, but you get the idea. To identify and correct clothing bugs over the course of the year whilst introducing new goodies. It sucks to have a look you want to put together be ruined because your survivor looks stupid when their blonde locks poke through that blue beret you snagged from an infected at a heli-crash. -Cheers Link to: DayZ 2023 Roadmap

Does anyone know a good resource for high-quality renders of in-game products?

What’s DayZ ‘SA’?

I just started playing DayZ again about 4mo ago after burning out from MW2 Platinum Gun grinding. Our hiatus from DayZ was about 9mo, my friends and I member the ‘God Tent’ days and seeing loot floating across the sky and lagging servers out to no end! But I thought wall glitches and duping were remedied long ago.

I think this in a lofty ask and never something that would be implemented. This would require servers to keep track of when a breach occurs, and what defines a breach? Someone could destroy a fence, hop over your fence if they can use something to climb over it, guess your combination, etc… Then developers would have to ask players for personal information to obtain phone numbers, nobody will agree to that type of disclosure. Somehow, the game would have to be tied to an SMS notification delivery system which would also require players to opt-in for it to work — and this piece alone is probably impossible to execute. So, this ask in probably the most unrealistic request I’ve ever seen. The best base defense is a base that’s hidden out of site. Once it’s discovered by others… it’s just a matter of when it will be raided, not if.

I can drive them just fine, but they require allot of finesse to drive. So I concur, they need more torque at lower gears in-order to up shift to lower rpm’s once momentum builds.

Server’s I play on ate fine. Sounds like community server owner messed-up the .xml files somehow.

Will the billboards be displayed in-game on both Livonia & Chernarus?
-
@Pyongo Bongo does it actually show gameplay footage of a survivor getting killed?
-
Since when has DayZ had killfeeds? I’ve been playing since console launch. But I only play vanilla servers so, if it’s not on official or vanilla community servers I guess that’s why I don’t know anything about it.
-
How do kill feeds work?
-
Sounds like you’re not playing Vanilla version of the game to me. Maybe just play a vanilla community server or official server?
