Never played before 1.02, but the night is dark and full of terrors. The night is pitch black as it ought to be with humanity not spewing out light pollution at night after the Zombie outbreak. I personally think all server day/night cycles should be synced so we have to deal with it, rather than server hop to find a daytime one.
