I don’t think the game is dead, far from it, but I do think its changing and I think consoles have affected this. (im also a xbox and PS4 player as well as my PC so im across all 3 formats) Consoles tend to be (but not always!) younger players or more casual players that are sat on their bed or sofa and want to pick up a game, run around and shoot stuff, then log off and play something else. That’s why games like COD, fortnite etc are so popular and HUGE cash cows for publishers. They are easy to play, theres a grind but its got rewards for it etc. People here on the forum tend to be the more mature/adult players as they care enough to post about it but are a minority. To provide much needed funds (games like Arma 3 cant keep a studio going forever) so they release it on console for the cash cow. They then hit a problem as Dayz doesn’t fit with the typical console players idea of a game. (the older, more mature console players that ‘get’ Dayz are rare). My 14 yr son and his mates fall into this and they have no interest in Dayz as they see it as boring. So to try and appease this important mass market, they start to alter the game mechanics. Its starts to become more PVP orientated and slowly the PVE and survival elements start to fade away. To then save work/time for the devs, they align the updates across all 3 platforms and suddenly the original market of PC players find Dayz is no longer the game they had seen developing. Console players by their nature will have moved on when the next COD or fortnite update gets realeased or they get bored before then and the cash cow starts to disappear. That’s when the devs need to pull another rabbit from the hat or the game falls into the ‘not financially viable’ bracket. I know they can do it as Arma3 is like a game that never dies. It keeps getting refreshed and has a huge following, even after all these years. Maybe it’s the DLC that keeps people coming back while at the same time generating funds for the next development. Maybe that’s the way Dayz needs to go?

You know when you’ve played too much Dayz when a lass just walked into our office with a small red backpack on that looked like the school ones on the game and I thought to myself ‘ I bet that’s just a 32 slot’ Lets hear yours...... 🙂

Nespesney just quit DayZ...

Sarcasm is clearly lost on you but in any case, you tell that to Doris and see what happens next time you need your bin emptying..... On a mildly serious note, theres a podcast in the uk by a premier league footballer. He said the most important person in the club wasnt the manager, the players, the CEO.... it was the kitman. He was the backbone of the club. He was one of the only constants in the club and knew everyone and everything. The players confided in him, the managers asked him how the players were really feeling etc etc. The players and managers just moved on whenever they got a better offer or out of contract. With that in mind... maybe you want to re-address your cleaner is not as important as a lead designer comparison. Sometimes the 'insignificants' are quite the opposite. -

Doris our office cleaner just quit.... should I be worried? She finished the toilets then handed her notice in..... what the hell is going on? -
Thanks for the reply. Ive had a look through but theres loads that state RP/PVE, its hard to find one that actually any good. I agree, pvp is a must in Dayz or it would become boring. For me its more about HOW the pvp is done, rather than amount or where. When you get taken out by a fully kitted pvp camper just sat waiting for people to come by, it just kills the immersion and is nothing more than a crap version of call of duty.

Is there any servers out there that try and steer players away from KOS? I currently play on a server with a friend from the forum which is meant to be a RP server but its becoming more and more KOS from non RP players. When an RP server becomes KOS from campers, it makes it no different to any official public server. Its now just making us more inclined to KOS ourselves, rather than try and hail the players we have spotted and try and interact Ideally an EU server based on vanilla or few mods. We are a couple of mature/sensible players

as you need to connect to a server (where your character is hosted online) then I doubt you can play offline.

I actually agree with you. Just giving basic skills to everyone but needing specialist skills to do the more advanced stuff. Rebuilding a car would be advanced, treating disease etc would be advanced, base building would be advanced etc. It would create an environment where people have need for other people. 'want to build a base?' ok you need to find a construction worker to join your gang', 'got a bad case of vomiting or a broken bone?' ok you need to find a medic etc. Does your gun need repairing ro do you need more ammo? find a gunsmith etc. It would stop a lot of KOS. As with other MMO's people could advertise or trade their services. Hell, I can even think of some good roleplay of kidnapping a mechanic to get him to repair your car etc. or maybe I'm just dreaming too big...

I love Battlefront 4! Only played it on PS4 though as I had bought BF1 and it gave me free access. Im now a PC and xbox player so may have to rebuy a lot of my fav games For the OP though, I hope this is showing that if you play a lot of 1PP shooters where you generally run solo, then you are likely to be very good at this game. If you are a Dayz player like me that like to take their time, then you tend not to be so good when it comes to PVP, even if I was in a group. Tino/DayzDayz, we sound like similar types of player. If you fancy joining myself and Aux7 on the barely infected village server, just add me on steam. (andysuter1972). We play very cautiously. Im a lot more gungho that Aux, who likes to sit back and observe for a while before going in. Im usually half way into the buildings by then -
sorted it. was a bit glitched...

so ive finally got a gas canister. The white line underneath is full. Ive attached it to my stove. All fine so far. Ive now found a cooking pot and am struggling to get it all to work. I can put the assembled parts on the floor, ie gas, stove and pot. It gives me the option to 'turn on' but when I press F (turn on) it doesn't do anything. Am I doing something wrong. Also, ive got some raw chicken, that's in the pot. Ive got a bottle of water too. How do I add that? do you chuck it all in, plastic and all? so close yet so far..

Fair do’s, I just thought your videos were quite funny and thought if youd found a good server then its good to share 😊 . I wasnt on the discord or in the clans so no idea on the toxicity. I didt even now there was a war haha. Anyway, looking forward to your new vids. Please don’t make them as funny as it’s a bit embarrassing laughing out loud while at work.

Im in my 40’s and have 14 yr old son whose playstation mad. Ive been playing games since I was a similar age to him back in the mod 90’s. I thought I was quite good. I played battlefront 2 recently and got an amazing 8 kills (or so I thought). I asked my son if he wanted a go. He said yes and on his first go from even seeing the game, chalked up 39 kills and ranked 6th place on the leaderboard. I tried not to show it but I was blown away. The difference between old crustys like me and sharp eyed, young teens where the controller is just an extension of their arms is a world apart. I tend to play games like city builders and Dayz that are slow paced and get deeply upset if I get shot. He plays all action first person shooters and doesn’t suffer game rage as hes used to it. He just starts up and goes again. If you are like my son, then even with basic weapons you’ll blitz people on Dayz. Most guns are 1 or 2 shot kills. If the groups were made up of people like me, then its like walking into an old peoples home and challenging them all to an arm wrestle. However, if you meet a group made up of people like my son and his mates, then its likely to be a different story Watch some of the base raid videos on you tube. Some of these guys are spotting people in the distance i cant even see let alone hit with a sniper rifle -
As I found out myself and advice from another player, it depends on what you got sick from. If like me you got sick from eating raw meat you could have caught salmonella. Theres no cure for this other than waiting it out. Different sickness types react to different treatments
