I agree, the console server browser doesn’t display enough information. Ping, and time of day are very important factors on PC, so why aren’t they there? I also think that night comes around far to quickly in the vanilla game. 2 hours of daylight are just not enough. Everybody knows that maintaining player pop at night is a major problem, but i think people would be more willing to play nightime if it didn’t come around so often. Personally, I think that 3-4 hours of day, and 1 hour of night is ideal. Hopefully you manage to negotiate private servers, and this becomes less of an issue.

I know DUG isn’t in the EU, but the ping is acceptable for someone from the UK. It’s definitely one of the best rp server out there, and there aren’t too many rules, so you still get to be nervous.

1. If you put electrical equipment into your hands, there should be a battery slot visible. If I remember correctly, you need to hold down the button (same button you use to move items) on the battery, and move the cursor into the battery slot. 2. Again, if is best to put those containers into your hands to access the items you want. You should probably fill up containers with your least important items, if you don’t fill them, random loot will go in there when you pick it up. 3. I agree, this is a pain in the arse, and needs to change ASAP. BTW. In the latest PC patch 1.03, consumable items such as batteries have a usage bar, so it’s easier to tell how much charge they have left. PS4 is on patch 1.02 so your issue will be fixed in the next update.

I’m pretty sure he’s talking about the inevitable stable update we will receive, after a few hotfix patches on experimental. I can’t see them delaying to 1.04 because I’m sure they’ll wanna put as much as they can into Xbox/PS4 1.03

Be interesting to see if it has the same issues as Xbox regarding party chat/game chat... does anyone know if this is likely it be the case?

That’s realistic for a shot to the head, but shots to other parts wouldn’t always be instant. I do like the idea of slowly fading out.. For the impatient people amongst us, I don’t think it would need to take much longer than the current respawn time.

To offer an alternative perspective, I sunk 300 hours into the Xbox version. I fell in love with the game, and ended up buying a PC to play that version. The fact is, yes, it’s buggy, and still lacking content, but the core DayZ experience is still there. If you think you’ll like it, buy it! (You’re on the DayZ forums, so I’m guessing you’re keen) Very few games will give you your money’s worth like DayZ.

Did you try holding F? Tapping F now puts items in your inventory, whilst holding puts them in your hands. Tapping F won’t work with a lit flare because you cannot place it in your inventory. -

The melee actually works well! The only problem with 1.02 melee was the left fist not connecting, but that seems to be solved now... I’m actually running up to every zombie I see and punching the shit out of them. It feels so good! -
You press , I’ve since been told that it’s not for vanilla. Probably a request for the modded servers.

If you spawn in with something in your hands, your character automatically performs an action associated with that item. It's happened twice now... Yesterday, I spawned in with a jerry can and started drinking the petrol, and just now I spawned in with a knife and shaved my face.

Make the standard melee attack the one with the stationary animation, and the strong melee attack should be the only one that drives you forward (if any?) I don’t think anyone would mind if none of the attacks moved you forward... I don’t know if the locked camera is due to the introduction of bayonets? But if it’s not necessary, I think the consensus is to get rid of it. Since we now have a stabbing animation, PLEASE make the spear, long stick, etc, do the same. The melee combat isn’t terrible, but we need the ability to maintain distance, so consistent stationary attacks, plus stabbing weapons would be a big help.

You can change the free look key binding already. I thought this was an issue at first, but have found that looking above the door brings up the ‘get out’ prompt. I agree with this, but it seems like they have replaced it with the ability to use hotbar whilst in your inventory... which is a poor trade if you ask me. A few more bugs: No sound when filling up a canteen at an pond/river Blank muddy green screen when using certain scopes Auto walk feature doesn’t work. Have only been able to get it to work on the offline mod. Can no longer perform stationary melee animations Also, the character stats say that I’ve killed 1 player, but have no recollection of this. Is this a bug, or can you think of a reason why it’s the case?

Ok, so I’m noticing EVEN MORE new things regarding the melee... Holding the attack button now makes your character continuously strike (pretty sure this is new?) Also, tapping the attack button makes your character perform a jab-like attack that DOESN’T drive your character forward. Once again, it’s gonna take some getting used to, because pressing the button too long makes you swing and move forward. It actually seems a little bit temperamental at the moment, and certainly doesn’t seem to work with all weapons. I just punched a zed to death without any forward motion, so at least fists work. Thought it was worth letting people know, because I know the forward motion drives a lot of people crazy. I know the devs seem to like not over explaining stuff, but I feel the new melee system should be better communicated, because it’s clearly driving a lot of people crazy.

The more I use the new melee, the more I’m liking it. It now seems that the fire axe is, once again, one of the best weapons to use. I’m easily taking out zombies in 3 hits. Previously, it was near useless compared to knives. The locked animation makes punching zombies a nightmare, because you need to be so precise. Bigger weapons are the way to go. The baseball bat is also an absolute beast, with the nailed variant dropping zeds in 2 hits. It’s not perfect, by any means, but it seems to me that you need to get yourself a decent weapon to survive. No more relying on your fists!
